For a second, try and picture yourself in 6th grade and realizing that you won't get recess anymore. Now, a deeper question. Do you remember how much fun you had in those 30 minute breaks? All the joy that you always felt while playing with your friends. Well I am a kid with ADHD, and it’s people like me who can’t stay still who need it the most. I was always the one who got in trouble, because I physically cannot stop moving. So I got recess taken away, which only made the problem worse. Which is why I think that we should still have recess.

Most high school students go to sleep later than 12 AM due to homework, and they wake up early as 5:30 AM to study for a test. According to the National Institute of Health, 90 percent of American high school students are sleep deprived. It also reveals some shocking news that a whopping 20 percent are getting by on less than five hours per night. Students need homework, but they also need the right amount of time to finish it and get an adequate amount of sleep. Schools should start after 8:30 AM so that students can get the right amount of sleep they need.
Do you want to have fun at Middle Park? Well, if you do that's great, because we are thinking about some fun things you can do while you’re here. How about a snowman building contest? This is where families can go against each other to build the biggest snowman,and whoever wins get there picture in the newspaper. Now that sounds like fun!

People often say that the reason middle schools don’t have recess is because it will take away from learning time, and since in middle school you can get gym every day so you don’t really need it. On the other hand recess is a physical activity that can give you a good amount of exercise in a day, better than gym can. Recess is also a fantastic way to improve your social skills, and your fitness. Recess is a good, and exciting way to improve your health, social interaction, and it is beneficial for you to focus better in class.
Class time is over, and it is finally time for recess! Thousands of children all over the world go out for recess in the middle of their school day. They go outside and just have fun! The younger children play on the playground, while older kids and teens either play athletic games or socialize. But, after 15 to 20 minutes, the whistle blows. It is the end of recess. “Awwwww!” most kids and teens say when they hear the whistle. “We need more time!” other kids say. Well, children and teens are exactly right. They do need a longer recess. According to researchers, studies have shown that children and teens need more recess time. A longer recess time would be helpful because it would help children and teens with many things.

Marjory Stoneman High School, Florida, Italy High School, Texas, Marshall County High School, Kentucky and more to name. These are the schools where recent shootings have occurred. The New York TImes stated that 66 people were killed and at least 110 injured in 2017- 2018. Even though schools have been taking action and doing helpful procedure’s, it's not enough. Schools should be more involved then they are now, in case of a real shooting were to occur at our school and must take the right steps to safety.

Your hard work has made the district have very high rankings and be one of the best districts in the state. As a student at Naperville Central High School, I understand that all school days are important and that they all count towards our grades. In spite of that, many Muslim students have no choice but to miss school due to an Islamic holiday called Eid. Therefore, there should be a day off on the only religious holiday that is celebrated by Muslims.
Ask any highschool student what the powerhouse of the cell is, they’ll reply “Mitochondria,” without processing the question. Ask what slope intercept form is… “y=mx+b”. High Schoolers will be able to tell you the precise structure of an atom, or the names of all three ships Columbus sailed on in his exploration. Ask them why they have a social security number? What a credit score is? Or, how do you do taxes or apply for a loan? And they will stare at you in a blind gaze. If we take a step back and think of what we really learned in four years of high school… what does it amount to? What does a good education look like? Why are we questioned what number/percentage we received instead of what did we learn? Education today prioritizes what scores we receive instead of what we have actually taken away from the work, and fails to provide us with the most basic life skills that we need to succeed.
