Convincing someone to acknowledge the wrong they are doing is a difficult task. Proving that racism is still a problem is near impossible in the world today. As a child I made no decision on dealing with someone just because of their race. Being silently raised to think differently has caused tension for me now, but I am not the only one facing this issue. With all the violence and hatred being thrown around it is not difficult to see that line between white people and colored people. Just recently, many NFL players have been “taking a knee” during the National Anthem to protest police violence and inequality with all colored people. Half the world cannot accept that it is true while the other half is screaming that it is. There are so many different opinions on the subject that half the world is against the other half. The biggest problem is neither race wants to accept their fault in it all. Is it possible to convince someone of the wrong they are doing? There is a way, and that is to first convince them to acknowledge the problem. Peggy McIntosh successfully persuades most of her audience to acknowledge their part in white privilege. In Peggy McIntosh’s article titled “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Backpack” she argues that there is such thing as white privilege but white people do not see it.
