There is one thing that President Gerald R. Ford; the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong; filmmaker Steven Spielberg and I all have in common. We are all Eagle Scouts. Since 1911, there have been more than one million Boy Scouts that have earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank advancement in Scouting. However, only about two and a half percent of ALL Boy Scouts have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. It is a very long path, but one that is well worth the journey.
Attention getter: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. (mission statement)
I sit around a table of familiar faces: my fellow scouters, good people I have known for almost twenty years. But the faces are contorted with anger, and their voices are filled with acrimony because of the issue being debated. Should girls be allowed to participate in all programs of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), allowing them to earn the Eagle Scout Award? I feel conflicted as a woman who has been denied entrance to an all-male organization, but my greatest concern is whether this will be the final blow to the integrity of a great American institution. Research about the origins of this controversy brought me to the story of Sydney Ireland, a girl from New York who has called on the BSA to end their discriminatory ban against girl

After researching this topic, I’ve learnt that there are many ways in which individuals interpret the meaning of being a Boy Scout. After carefully listening to the responses of Scoutmasters and Troop 1 members, I was able to come to the realization that even though there were variations in the responses when the same questions were asked, each one of the interviewees offered a sincere perspective on the meaning behind the Boy Scouts of America.
Hello, my name is Susan Stewart. I am a member of the Wheatland High School Grad Night Committee. The committee is comprised of Volunteers who plan and facilitate the Safe and Sober Grad Night event for Wheatland High School graduates. Committee members are meeting with local community businesses and leaders like yourself, to ask if they would be interested in supporting an event aimed at keeping our local teens safe on such a celebratory night.
Boy Scouts of America is one of the largest youth groups in the nation that is was well known and popular. But in recent years is has faced a decline in members and donors as American public gradually moved to support LGBT rights. The boy scouts policy did not support these rights so they attracted a lot of attention. I read that in 2012, perhaps in an attempt to reassure conservative church groups, the BSA forcefully reaffirmed its commitment to ban openly gay youth and openly gay adults from scouting. In response, LGBT groups escalated their campaign against BSA's discriminatory policies. Activists gathered thousands of signatures on petitions calling for an end to the gay ban. They called attention to many news stories of the BSA kicking
William D. Boyce was a business man who hired hundreds of young boys, Newsies, to sell his newspapers. He has a great love of young men’s rights. In 1909 while on a trip to London he got lost in the thick London fog. A Boy Scout helped him find his way. He offered to pay the boy for his service but was refused, when asked why, the young boy explained that he was a boy scout a was doing a good turn. Because of this Boyce brought the Boy Scouts program to America and started Boys Scouts of America, BSA, on February 8, 1910. Because if this man I am a Boy Scout
War is a very tough thing to handle. There is sacrifice and death, and yet peace is still not found. Now countries like the U.S. might fight with others but they don’t use children to do it. Other countries like Sierra Leone are using children to fight their battles. Their horrible methods are immoral and unsafe, so it is only safe to say that child soldiers are the victims of this unspeakable act. The goal should be to rehabilitate these children, not punish them. We should give these kids a chance at a normal life. Some of these children have watched their parents die in front of them or have been victims of rape and abuse. They have nothing and if we punish them even more by taking away the one thing they are still trying to hold on too,
While Canada is the 5th most prosperous country in the world, we are ranked 17th out of 29 affluent nations for our children’s wellbeing, and we drop to the bottom ranks for key measures on children’s health and safety, as well as child poverty. The facts are deeply alarming:
Specific Purpose: To persuade people to stop the bullying and help the people that are dealing with it.
Camping has been one of the main events in the Scouting program ever since it was first made. Camping at a locally owned or troop owned camp has also been a big thing. Sadly, many of these camps are dying out due to budget and low income of scouts. Ferris State Bulldog and Eagle Scout Raymond Sundquist has a solution. Sunquist believes “If we were able to get more kids involved in the Scouting program, we wouldn’t have such a huge problem in not finding enough scouts to run the camps” (Sundquist). Sundquist also believes that one of the biggest problems of not having many young boys and teens in the scouting program is because there has been a mixed feelings in the community for scouting. He stands on the fact that many families think that
(Waves to Witten, Warren and Boone) Thank you, Jill Stein, for your very eloquent address. (Stares at Jill) Throughout my time as a public servant I have never met a more distinguished legislator and I will truly miss you. (Pauses, turns to the Audience) My fellow Americans, when I stood on this stage nearly two decades ago, I addressed this convention for the first time. (Reflects, points toward the Audience) I asked you, the American people, to renew our government's commitment to economic justice, to inspire the fair and lasting prosperity of our nation. (Slowly raises Hand) Today, I ask you to continue that commitment, as I endorse Kyle Kulinski, the next President of the United States! (Pauses during Applause) Thanks to Kyle’s campaign,
"The best way to make children good is to make them happy." This popular quote said by Oscar Wilde should be something everyone lives by. People always say how children are the hope for the future; how they should be raised right in order for them to prosper in the future. While many adults do see the importance that kids hold in our generation, many do not. If you think about it, who will be going to be doing your job once you retire? Children need to be given the best resources for not only themselves, but for the benefit of the older generations. If children someday will become the future of this world, they should be treated as so. While most kids are treated fairly and given the rights they deserve, others suffer from abuse and neglect from a parent or guardian which can easily affect how they will prosper in the future.
Thank you for your dedication to providing an excellent education system for all students in District 203. Your hard work has made the district have very high rankings and be one of the best districts in the state. As a student at Naperville Central High School, I understand that all school days are important and that they all count towards our grades. In spite of that, many Muslim students have no choice but to miss school due to an Islamic holiday called Eid. Therefore, there should be a day off on the only religious holiday that is celebrated by Muslims.
