Imagine 10-20 years from now you are married to someone of color, with 2 Kids that can be recognized as mixed. You pick them up from the bus stop and as they walk towards you, the red puffy eyes lower as they had been crying. After asking them what is wrong they describe to you that, kids and adults at school treat them differently and wrongly because of the color of their skin. What would your reaction be? What would you do to stop this? Although to many American people it may seem that Racism is no longer prominent, it in fact it takes a huge toll physically and mentally on children, and how they view the world, and because racial difference causes violence almost everywhere, it creates an economic divider, and lowers self confidence.

Racism in Australia is a big problem and needs to be stopped. Racism refers to anything that has the effect of disadvantaging someone from what their racial background is. It affects peoples well-being along with it not being a good look for our nation to have. Is it really okay for people outside of our country to look and us and think that there are still people that are being racist? Opportunities for people should not be judged on their race. This is not fair. Racism is definitely not okay and should be stopped.
Overall, it is saddening that we are still living through this today. As Rosa Parks once said, “Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare our children for what they have to meet, and, hopefully, we shall
For centuries a disease has plagued our nation just like AIDS has Africa, I bet you all are wondering what this disease is. You probably think that it can be treated with limited breakouts every few years. The virus I'm talking about is racism. Imagine living every day in fear knowing that where ever you go, everything you do is being observed and judged. Imagine walking into a store or a boutique and having someone watch every move of yours thinking that you’re going to steal something, or expose a bomb from under your clothes. Imagine being mocked and hated at school because you're "different". Imagine being left out because of your skin colour. No one enjoys being left out, but then, why do people judge? Why do people set a fire of
As a child, I’m sure almost all of us have had mini class field trips to the library. We go in and pick the brightest, visually appealing, eye-catching book cover and convince ourselves that the deceiving beauty we see on the outside, will certainly define the content inside of the book. We avoid picking the books that are simple with fewer pictures and have pages that are either colored on by our naughty little selves or aren’t attractive enough for our seven year old minds, and simply toss the book back onto the shelf without even bothering to read the content that it holds inside. The librarian notices and tells us the seven-word response that we as kids forget: Don’t judge a book by its cover. We carry on those seven words every library visit but we forget to use them even in real life situations as adults. Racial profiling is targeting a person based on a stereotype about their race. To convey my position in this speech, I believe Racial profiling is morally incorrect. Racial profiling sends a straight forward message to all individuals that judgment on criminal felony is based on pure skin color; it violates the fourteenth amendment; and it also leads to racially - motivated violence. For all these reasons, I stand against the act of racial profiling due to the negative effects it holds in our society.
Lifting your head up from a nap from the cold wood-finished desk, trying to overcome the haziness from your eyes as you look at your teacher, turning your head to the right your friend is taking a colorful page of ocean-blue, rosie-cheek-pink, lime-green, purple heart majesty colored notes and you wonder why you are doing the same. You suddenly hear loud thuds coming up the metal-rusted ramp outside leading to the door. The door swings open with a powerful “swoosh” and an eerie creek from the rusted bolts follow. A gun walks in, following a middle-aged white man who has a distorted look in his eyes.
If you’ve been living in anywhere but specifically America during the past three to four years, you most likely have heard of the statement Black Lives Matter. The movement began in the wake of the July 2013 acquittal of George Zimmerman after the Florida shooting death of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed African American teenage boy. Co-founded by three black activist : Alicia Garza, Patrisse, and Opal Tometi(blacklivesmatter.com), the Black Lives Matter movement has become an empowering movement that has spread and is still awareness and bringing a change to racism. All Lives Matter is something we all know. We know no human being deserves to be wrongfully murdered or treated with unnecessary disrespect. This is what
A hoodie, a bag of rainbow-colored candies, and a can of tea—all items that dictated Zimmerman’s suspicions of Trayvon Martin and ultimately led to the death of the seventeen year old. And the question that must be persistently asked by oneself in the wake of recent acts of hate that Obama asks us to evaluate is, “Am I judging people as much as I can, based on not the color of their skin, but the content of their character?” Sandra Bland. Alton Sterling. Philando Castile. More lives, brothers, sisters, and INNOCENT black individuals stripped of their existence because of prenotion prejudices placed because that question was not assessed properly. Though racism is still breathing down post-racial America’s neck, the nation is continuously improving its judgement based on how light or dark one’s flesh is colored because America’s youth is becoming more informed, America has come a long way from the once slave society, and black individuals are rising up; furthermore, America can only become a more perfect by moving past stigmas painted on minorities and the negative circumstances that have resulted from them.
The most recent case in the news that involved a live stream on Facebook of an innocent black family. Diamond Reynolds recorded the whole thing. How her and her boyfriend Philando Castile got pulled over for a broken tail light by a Chinese police officer. Philando was shot four or five times on the arm. He did tell the officer that he did have a weapon in his car (a firearm) but that he was licensed to carry. Philando’s girlfriend Diamond claims that all he was doing was reaching out for his license and ID. While she is talking and recording she moves the camera across to show her boyfriend how bloody and how he was losing consciousness, and the cop was still pointing his gun while the officer saw that they had their young daughter in the
The Black Lives Matter movement has been around for several years, but this year, something has majorly sparked up more of the movements controversy. This is an international activist movement, originating in the African American community. This Black Lives Matter movement campaigns against violence and systemic racism towards African Americans. Racial justice activists are concerned that the cause is being slaughtered by the case emerging form the football stadiums. Colin Kaepernick made headlines by remaining seated during the National Anthem at a NFL football game. From inspiration, the MLB, Major League Baseball, followed suit. The Oakland Athletics catcher Bruce Maxwell took a new. Many Americans were outraged, claiming that standing for the anthem is honoring those who have fought for America. These protest are not helping the fight of Black Lives Matter, it is only helping to guide negative attention towards the movement.
Topic: The idea I want to talk about is the purpose of Affirmative Action in America, who it represents, and how it affects them.
It was during the first week of INT that I started to feel more in depth with the racism and its different terms. We talked in detail on intent, reverse racism, and white supremacy after watching few videos for each matter. It turned out that there are deeper meaning and context to these terms than the mere definition.
"Hands Up, Don't Shoot", black Lives matter. This is the slogan that the black man has taken on to
Great people of the United States thank you for voting this year. Specifically I will do my best for you not to be dissatisfied while i am in office. For today we start a new era of greatness. For I would like to thank my mom for being there and telling me never to quit. My goal in these speeches is to turn my opponents in my direction. I will face a big issue in these for years but I will be strong. This issue is racism and mass shootings. Witnesses to Sunday's mass shooting rampage at a pool party in San Diego are pushing back against the idea that the shooting was not a hate crime.
Racism is contagious to this society. It has been a growing concern in the United States for many decades now, however, no major improvements are made by any political officials in reducing it. Many individuals of color are treated unfairly just because they are of pigment. Not too long ago, many individuals in the African American communities sparked out in outrage when individuals such as Michael Brown and much more were racially profiled by were brutally attacked by the law enforcers. Racism does not only limits individuals of color their freedom and rights but has further impacts on health. However, when one mentions inequalities and racism, people may look at it in terms of a justice problem, but not much attention is given how racism
Thank you for your dedication to providing an excellent education system for all students in District 203. Your hard work has made the district have very high rankings and be one of the best districts in the state. As a student at Naperville Central High School, I understand that all school days are important and that they all count towards our grades. In spite of that, many Muslim students have no choice but to miss school due to an Islamic holiday called Eid. Therefore, there should be a day off on the only religious holiday that is celebrated by Muslims.
