Sometimes saying thank you once isn’t enough!
The continued support that you offer to SBCC is more than a source of general funding. To us it says, “I believe in your cause.”
While we work to Connect, Support, Educate and Advocate for families living with Spina Bifida in the Greater Cincinnati area, we know that we do it in partnership with those who care and have compassion for our community.
Because of your sponsorship of $700, a person with Spina Bifida can participate in a recreation or therapeutic activity of their choice to improve their physical and social health. This year, SBCC paid for 53 families to attend conferences, camps, adapted sports programs, and gave direct financial aid to several families when bills overextended

Where would you rather live, the United States or Qatar? Easy, United States, but what if you had the choice between the United States or Qatar, but if you chose Qatar you will be given five million dollars and you only had to be there for 3 weeks. Okay, most of you reasonable people would choose Qatar, and I would imagine most of you would do it for the money. FIFA or the International Federation of Associated Football (Soccer) was bribed into making that same decision over the 2022 World Cup (Berlin), which is without a doubt the most watched and visited sporting event in the world, and now it will be witness in one of the smallest and hottest countries in the world. Now this raises the question on how these very prominent issues such as corruption (Berlin), Doping (Drepper), Money Laundering (FBI 24 Years Bribery and Corruption), the Violations of Basic Human Rights
I have been a part of Best Buddies here at WKU since my first semester of college. Best Buddies is an organization that pairs college students with people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Best Buddies gives people with IDD the opportunity to get involved with things happening on campus. It also allows them to build different friendships. Through Best Buddies, I have had the opportunity to start volunteering my time at the Buddy House. The Buddy House is a place where people with Down syndrome can go to hang out with their friends. The Buddy House offers classes for all ages. They have literacy classes for elementary and middle grade students, adult skills classes, fitness for teens and adults, Zumba classes, and much more.
One organization in particular that has large involvement within the community to help disabled kids is this organization called Miracle League of the Triangle. This organization is country-wide organization that is located in multiple parts of the country. In particular, one location is in Cary, North Carolina. This organization is specifically related to the sport of baseball. This league operates like a real baseball league where there are multiple teams and each team plays against each other. Each player has some sort of disability where it’s a physical disorder or a mental disorder. The good thing about the involvement is that each player is assisted by a person known as a BUDDY where they help the player run the bases and hit the ball. It’s a real bonding moment for both the player and the BUDDY. It shows that the BUDDY really cares for the player and it makes the player feel more appreciated. The mission statement for the league is to create positive life experiences for children and adults with special needs and for their families through baseball. The league also has some core values in which they take and consider in this organization. Some values are that everything that is done should be player-centered and create an accepting, safe, and fun environment. The world sometimes responds in a ways not to accept people with special needs because they think they don’t fit into the society so they simply exclude them from most activities or other involvements in the community. To change this issue, the leagues organizes the baseball games to give kids a chance to participate in the community even if the league is a specific minority group. It gets these kids more involved to have exposure of interesting things in the world. The league gives everyone the opportunity to participate which creates unity among each other. The BUDDY system helps the staff, board, coaches
“It's an important thing in our community. We support it and I'm glad the community supports it,” said Commissioner Rob Ault of the Training Center and services provided by the DD Board. “It's very important to the community. It affects a lot of families. We appreciate everything you do. There's not one of us who doesn't have some sort of disability in our family.”
“We are very community oriented. Each member must actively participate in the yearly fundraiser where all of our proceeds go towards DECA’s state-wide philanthropy, Muscular Dystrophy Associated (MDA). Our local chapter also requires members to work five community service hours per semester.”
I personally thank you for your generosity in giving me your Corps of Cadets Scholarship. My family and I are grateful for your Support
Maintaining a caring and compassionate relationship is not easy, especially a complex one like Nick and his father’s. In the story, “Ten Indians” by Ernest Hemingway, taken place in the twentieth century of rural America, Hemingway portrays the complex relationship between a father and son. Nick is verbally abused and is deprived of attention and concern for his well-being. Due to the lack of a mother figure in Nick’s life, Nick’s father does not show compassion nor nurture him, which leads Nick to be neglected and isolated.
To eliminate bias and hatred against autistic or differently abled children and individuals, it is important to educate the masses about the endless possibilities autistic people are born with.
So you’re thinking about joining FFA, and you don’t know if it’s a good fit for you. You don’t think you fit the stereotype that is meant to be in FFA. First let's start off with what FFA stands for, it stands for Future Farmers of America. While FFA is the traditional name we had a name change in 1988 to show the diversity in agriculture that it is not only farming but a variety of different focuses. So even if you're not into farming there is more then likely something that you would find that you would enjoy.
Eleven years ago, when I was two-and-a-half years old, I went to to the University of Chicago Autism Center with my mom and my grandma Susan.
With the help of teachers and my efforts, I have been successful and was even a recipient of an academic achievement award for students with a 3.6 GPA or higher. It is not always easy learning the materials, studying and placing my thoughts onto paper, yet I will continue to advocate for myself in any circumstance necessary. Despite having learning challenges in the classroom, it does not limit my activities outside of the classroom. I love to volunteer! One of my favorite activities includes being a volunteer buddy for the Miracle League of the Fox Valley. The Miracle League is a baseball organization for children and adolescents with physical and/or cognitive challenges. My role of a buddy is to assist my fellow buddy in any needs she may need, protect her from possible injuries and make sure she is having fun! I love having the opportunity of being a buddy, it has formed a forever lasting companionship and provided smiles that touch us all! Addition to the Miracle League, I’m a member of National Honor Society in which I volunteer in several community organizations to help better the community. I was honored to be selected as a Link Crew member. It has been one of my greatest opportunities to advocate for my peers with disabilities. This is a first time that Appleton North Link Crew created a program for students with physical and cognitive challenges to be included in a freshman transition program in
The ancient practice of tattooing, once considered a trademark of social outcasts and criminals, has steered back into mainstream culture at an alarming rate (Irwin 2001, Swan 2006). In western society, tattoos are often associated with antisocial behaviour. In 1895, Cesare Lombroso concluded in his study that the art of tattooing is most commonly found on the bodies of criminals (Putnins 2002). The frequency of tattoo’ are predicted to be found at higher rates in criminal subcultures than in the general public. According to the 2003 Harris poll, nearly 40 million Americans’ have at least one tattoo. The practice is becoming more popular with teenagers.
For example, using a leftover coffee can for loose nails or screws, or even washing and reusing a plastic zip-loc bag instead of throwing it in the garbage. Thrift shopping is a way of reusing someone else’s unwanted goods. As I spoke about in an earlier speech about thrifting, I included many locations and ways to thrift, also the benefits to the shopper and the donator. One place in particular was shopping at the local boys and girls club. I personally shop there, keeping my eyes open for a good deal. For example, the pair of jeans that I am wearing today was purchased from this store just a few months ago. I paid only $8.00 for this pair of Lucky Jeans and according to buckle.com, a retailer for lucky jeans the retail price is $99.00 that is a savings to me of $91.00.I am not the type to worry about name brands, but quality usually does cost more. If I can get a quality pair of jeans at a fraction on the price, I am glad to shop at the thrift store. I am thankful to the person that made the donation of the lucky jeans and they can benefit from that donation. According to the IRS webpage, IRS. Gov it explains that an individual can donate items like clothing, household furniture and furnishings, a car or boat, even taxidermy. The donations are appraised, by the donator, and recorded. At the time of filing taxes if the donation equals at least $500 for the year, the donator may take advantage of the
