I wrote this inspirational book to persuade all those negative thinking substitute teachers to begin right here. Begin what, you might ask? Begin to embrace a keen pride of your professional role as a substitute teacher. Start to erase those damaging thoughts that a substitute teacher is the most disrespected job in the educational system.
Listen to me: “As a substitute teacher, you are a significant entity of the education diagram. This learning chart branches extend outward and link to many variables. The variables include, but not limited to, teachers, assistant principals, principals, security officers, physical facility and environmental services, cafeteria workers, counselors, para-educators, and parents. Each variable has one major priority, the “student.” You along with the categories I listed, (i.e., teachers, assistant principals, etcetera) must strive to ensure that every student graduates from high school. They should leave their high school carrying a burning interest to pursue higher education, and a compelling desire to become productive citizens.
To get the higher education ball rolling, your instructional duties toward your students include: positive relationships, nurturing, mentoring, and unlocking engaging learning opportunities.
Your presence inside that classroom is influential. Did you believe what I just said? I hope so, but if not, imagine this: “If every substitute teachers
I have been a substitute teacher for eight years. Being a substitute teacher has exposed me to various types of teaching strategies, as well as, different methods of applying classroom management rules and procedures. My experience with substituting has helped me gather resources and ideas that I will implement in my future
Attention Grabber: Jeremy Bloom is the youngest man in history to make the “U.S. Ski Team, he was national champion while still in high school and world champion and Olympian at age 19 (Pullen, 2015). He nearly missed medaling in the Olympics. I wonder what he might

Hello, my name is Susan Stewart. I am a member of the Wheatland High School Grad Night Committee. The committee is comprised of Volunteers who plan and facilitate the Safe and Sober Grad Night event for Wheatland High School graduates. Committee members are meeting with local community businesses and leaders like yourself, to ask if they would be interested in supporting an event aimed at keeping our local teens safe on such a celebratory night.
The largest homeless shelters have had to start limiting the amount of time a person can stay because of the increase in demand.
Despite my somber interest of my temporary workplace, I still yearned to do something different. Therefore, I took a clean shot at substitute teaching, but little did I know that the captivating adventures of Substitute Teaching, Up-Close and Personal were in steady progress.
Thank you for being my substitute today. Make sure that students are sitting in their assigned seats and take attendance for every period and turn it into the office. If you have any problems do not hesitate to call the front office at *500 and have the student removed. Let me know what happened so I can take care of it on Friday when I return.
Substitute teachers must quickly adjust to the classroom schedule and may not know individual children’s needs. An appropriate orientation can address these concerns. The teacher can help by preparing written policies, procedure, and emergency list placed in visible sight. The teachers can keep copies of emergency care plans for your students in a secure place that you and substitute teachers can get to easily in an emergency.
Thank you for your dedication to providing an excellent education system for all students in District 203. Your hard work has made the district have very high rankings and be one of the best districts in the state. As a student at Naperville Central High School, I understand that all school days are important and that they all count towards our grades. In spite of that, many Muslim students have no choice but to miss school due to an Islamic holiday called Eid. Therefore, there should be a day off on the only religious holiday that is celebrated by Muslims.
I learned quickly that being an effective teacher is an art that takes time and devotion. Many times, teachers are not provided with the necessary materials in order to maintain the various learning styles in a classroom. It is up to the teacher to create an environment where students can succeed. This is a full time job, meaning that a teacher’s work is not done once they leave the school. A teacher must contribute a significant amount of time and effort in order to see positive results in the school and in his or her own classroom. After observing my cooperating teacher’s strategies and learning more about the profession, I knew that I was going in the right direction with my life. I took a significant amount of knowledge away from this experience and have continued to strive to be the type of educator that I was blessed to work with during this experience. .

Ask any highschool student what the powerhouse of the cell is, they’ll reply “Mitochondria,” without processing the question. Ask what slope intercept form is… “y=mx+b”. High Schoolers will be able to tell you the precise structure of an atom, or the names of all three ships Columbus sailed on in his exploration. Ask them why they have a social security number? What a credit score is? Or, how do you do taxes or apply for a loan? And they will stare at you in a blind gaze. If we take a step back and think of what we really learned in four years of high school… what does it amount to? What does a good education look like? Why are we questioned what number/percentage we received instead of what did we learn? Education today prioritizes what scores we receive instead of what we have actually taken away from the work, and fails to provide us with the most basic life skills that we need to succeed.
You may think that selling is complicated and confusing but I’m here to tell you
This past semesters has been an eye opening experience that has changed my views on teacher. Ever since I was little, I have always wanted to be a fourth grade teacher. However after being placed in a second grade classroom my views have changed. I liked the idea of teaching fourth grade because my fourth grade teacher was my inspiration in life. When I was in Ms. Petro’s class I enjoyed being able to watch the students progress over time. Being able to see the drastic improvements in little children is very rewarding and that is why I want to continue to teach lower grades. I have learned that being a teacher requires a special someone, a person who knows that sometimes you will have to deal with tough situations leaving you exhausted and feeling like you are not able to help more. But at the same time, being a teacher allows one to be a visionary for the world and those who surround you.
There are many steps to becoming an educator. It is a process that is not easy, it is challenging. Many times, you will find yourself wondering if you are cut out for the education field. Once you have become an educator, that same questions will come up many times throughout your years. Being an educator is a not a field you go into knowing exactly what you need to do, you will be, thrown many curve balls and face many obstacles that the long process you went through to become an educator, could never prepare you for many of the situations you will face.
