Persuasive Speech On Volunteering

Attention getter: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Today, we stand as proud Americans, and use our free speech as a weapon, the government is concerned about gay marriage, abortion, and many other issues. Another issue that is usually neglected is that many of our beloved veterans are homeless, even after all that they have done for our country. This is not what this was meant for and I believe we are abusing our right of free speech. Our veterans did not fight these wars for us to bring another war out of something won. That is what we are leading to. Another war all because we don’t know how to use our valuable prizes.

Surrendering my free time to serve others, is often times not something I crave to do. Selfish ambitions take over, and consequently, I participate in activities I find pleasing to me rather than others. However, when I take the time to assist others and take action in my community, I have found that it is a rewarding experience. Volunteering has never led me to anything negative, and it has allowed me to be a part of a positive and uplifting experience. My desire to volunteer may consume my time, but the countless rewards I receive from volunteering are priceless. Offering my time to organizations has allowed me to become more humble, see the happiness it brings to people, and improve my social skills.

Hoy (2011, p. 29) believed that internships and volunteering allow students to have a taste of the environment that they hope to be employed after they finished schooling. In fact, it is through internships that students are provided with the sufficient skills that would help them in the transition stage- from study to work (The Centre for Volunteering, 2015). In line of this assertion, this paper will identify the workplace opportunity I have chosen, and provide for four soft skills that I can use in the said internship opportunity.

On January 4th, 2017, you issued an emergency call for blood and platelet donation because the severe winter weather was eating up your blood supply causing a shortage and once again you issued a statement on July 5th, 2017, saying that, “The decline in summer donations is causing a significant draw-down of our overall blood supply, and we urgently need people to give now to restock hospital shelves and help save lives,” (Mandal). So, if I am understanding this correctly, the nation is still experiencing a blood shortage? Ok, here’s the part that I find funny, there’s an entire population that is able to donate but yet are deferred by your system. Can you guess what that population is? No? Well, it’s gay and bisexual men.

Yes, you heard correctly; and, here’s a news flash for you: these mass manipulators that reign over us are stopping at nothing, even so that the homeless community are being dragged into this opinion-filled arena.

Service learning has given me the new opportunity experience helping others and including myself. I enjoy volunteer work because It’s a way of giving back to the community, but also I’ve become confident in public speaking. In addition, volunteer work is a great rewarding experience, and it 's also helped me develop social skills, by supporting others. The contribute can make a positive impact in many ways, Barack Obama said, “ the best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the work with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.” There are element that could promise will succeed in life, however, I believe to learn and discover. I will continue volunteering work whenever I can, and I strongly encourage people to join volunteer work because the meaningful impact the lives of their and help thousands of the students confront in reading. It was a great pleasure for me to contribute to the organization to the development of the community through Political Science class volunteering work. The impact that was able to make our community better future.

I grew up in a quaint yet homely apartment that had paint chipping off its walls and a musty, mold smell that permeated the air in a downtown Brooklyn neighbourhood where the stench of sewage was a daily occurrence and it was unremarkable to witness two asian grandmas up at each other’s throats. I wasn’t raised in the happiest and privileged place in the world yet I didn’t let my adversities throw me down to the ground. I appreciate that Columbia is like a plane. It contains people of all walks in life and educational backgrounds, but what matters most is not where we from, it is that we are all reaching the same destination, the destination where we all become open minded, educated adults.

Homelessness is the condition of people that do not have a permanent place to live, like a house or an apartment. The issue of homelessness is not subjected to one area, but it is a worldwide problem. Homelessness can result by depending upon a countries economy, and their government because the officials often ignores the issue. Manila, Philippines has 22.8 million who reside in the slums, and 1.2 million of those people are children who live by peddling, or begging on the streets, (Castillo). The Philippines is not the only country that has many homeless children that beg to live or peddle. The number of homeless children in the world is unnatural, and by being internationally intertwined we should put an end to homelessness, especially

Just imagine if one of your brothers or sisters was born with a heart defect and had to have daily transfusions of blood in order to have a chance of survival. Unfortunately, things happen like this everyday and some of you may have experienced them already. In this essay I am going to persuade you to become a blood donor. I try to donate blood every two months or so because it makes me feel like I am doing something good and saving people’s lives. Do you know that 95% of all Americans will need a blood transfusion sometime in our lives (Red Cross web site)? That statistic means that there is a possibility that you, and your family and friends could need support from volunteer blood donors. In this essay I will discuss the need for blood donations, solutions that can increase blood donations, and actions that need to be taken to increase blood donations.

Thank you for your dedication to providing an excellent education system for all students in District 203. Your hard work has made the district have very high rankings and be one of the best districts in the state. As a student at Naperville Central High School, I understand that all school days are important and that they all count towards our grades. In spite of that, many Muslim students have no choice but to miss school due to an Islamic holiday called Eid. Therefore, there should be a day off on the only religious holiday that is celebrated by Muslims.
