PREPARATION OUTLINE
Purpose Statement: To persuade the audience to enlist in the U.S. Air Force.
Thesis Statement: There are multiple reasons to join the Air Force ranging from sense of duty, educational benefits, specialized job training and world travel.
Introduction
Attention Getter: “I am an American Airman. My mission is to Fly, Fight, and Win. I am faithful to a Proud Heritage, A Tradition of Honor, And a Legacy of Valor.”
This is an excerpt from the Airman’s Creed adopted by today’s Air Force, where warriors are made and leaders are born.
Overview of Main Points: First I am going to talk about the benefits of joining the Air Force where I will go over the education benefits, specialized job training and lastly the opportunities of world travel.
Transition:
I. What can the Air Force do to help me with college?
A. The Air Force has the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) which is a nationally accredited associate’s degree program. Degree program is based off from your Air Force Specialty Code in which you receive credit for technical training but still basic courses such as Math, English, Public Specking, etc. Tuition assistance and tuition re-imbursement options are available for most colleges and universities. B. Montgomery G.I. Bill can be used to pay for tuition, apprenticeships and vocational schools. 1. According to the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) website:
Attention-getter: “School ownership is our goal.” Who on earth would want to have full control over a school and its students? The military would
I would like to attend a military academy because I would like to be the best that I can be, while at the same time, serving my country. Education at the AFA is comparable to the best universities in the country, including my prospective major, Astronautical Engineering; so, the service academy is an excellent academic choice for me. Additionally, only the best-of-the-best attend these academies, and being surrounded by such great people will be terrific to make new friends and network.
ct to gain from the Air Force Academy experience and how will it help you in your Air Force career? (250 to 300 words, 3000 characters max)
The reason why I want to attend the U.S. Service Academies is not only the goldmine of opportunity I will receive of an educational standpoint including benefits, but also the enrichment of character and self-development, into becoming one of the nation's most exemplary citizens through attending a military academy.
My goal in attending a United States Service Academy and becoming an officer in the military is to provide myself ample opportunities to reach my established life goals. I plan to pursue a career in aerospace engineering, and developing that career through one of the academies will help me to achieve the dreams I had as a child. I have many strengths that will help me stand out in the application process, but at the same time, I have challenges to overcome. However, these obstacles will not hinder me from from pursuing my passion.
Many people are concerned about the U.S. military because of how many risks come with joining it. However, the U.S. military also explains the benefits that one could receive. Joining the military is a decision that should not be taken lightly. One must understand all aspects of the military. In order for a voter to be fully informed about joining the US military, one must consider both the risks, like mental illnesses and commitment and benefits, like education, and experience.
Being in the military comes with plenty of benefits. Free education is probably the number one reason (how do you think I am paying for my school right now). You get to travel and see things you thought you would never see. Not only do you become physically tough but also mentally tough. You become prepared for the tough civilian life. Markos Moulitsas Zuniga repots that, “The Army taught me the very values that make us progressives--community, opportunity, and investment in people and the future.” Although many feel that they should not join the military it can really improve our lives and they way we think.
Moreover, the military also gave me the opportunity to travel abroad. Living in countries such as Korea, Spain, and Germany and immersing myself in their cultures has given me perspective on the differences between the United States and other countries. Each place I have lived has been unique in some way, from the different languages to the variations in cultural practices. Dealing with individuals with different backgrounds has helped me develop a good rapport with people.
Thesis Statement: A few females are joining the military, and those taking leadership roles is even small, caused by existence of limited information about the Army and less combat roles, and this can be addressed by lifting ban on women on combat and creating more combat support jobs.
Have you ever thought about joining the Air Force? Well , if you haven’t, just imagine the respect you’d get for serving our country, the pride you’d feel for helping keep America safe. Imagine flying all around the world and meeting so many varieties of people, seeing lots of different cultures. (Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Quincy) Although the USAFA has its disadvantages, it teaches future service men and women many qualities that they can use in their lives. It also shapes these cadets for the military by teaching them discipline, responsibility, and good work ethic.
I am sure that everyone of you have heard about aliens and UFOs. Indeed, we all have heard about the famous case of aliens and UFOs in Roswell, New Mexico. Most people might be interested in the topic of aliens, but I know that the majority of you just think of it as rumours and the existence of them are impossible. Therefore, I am standing here in front all of you to make you change your perspective. I am strongly confident that I have found the evidence of their real existence to convince all of you.
Soldiers should live “Duty, Honor, Country,” but what does that entail? The speech given in 1962 to the young cadets at Westpoint was an influential piece still referred to today. In General MacArthur’s address “Duty, Honor, Country Address at West Point,” I will identify the rhetorical devices, persuasive appeals, perspective, and tone used, as well as the impact those devices have on the meaning of this speech.
Duty, Honor, Country is what every soldier wants to be able to say with a purpose. General Douglas McArthur repeats those three words multiple times throughout his speech. They are the focus
Yes, have our current military. Provides a safety net for all and makes sure that we have no foreign threats. Keeps our freedom and independence. It is an extension to providing a free environment for all. 81% support and like the military overall (Forbes.com)The military is there to serve and protect America as a whole as well. They defend the constitution when oath is taken (Opening phrase is, I will support & defend the Constitution (In Military.com) ) Without that, there is a sense of vulnerability and others may perceive us as weak and easily manipulated. With a force, we will have a chance against others and a way to protect our citizens. Our current constitution provides Congress the authority to shape the different military branches & their conducts, basically support the military. Without basic protection, how can we even have a slim chance of surviving? Not everyone can protect themselves like the young, old, sick, & disabled. They play a huge part in promoting political agenda, protecting economic interests, internal population control, construction, emergency services, social ceremonies, and guarding important areas. Also plays a huge role in power projection. Also function as a discrete subculture within a larger society through the development of infrastructures such as housing, schools, utilities, logistics, health/medical, law, food production, finance, & banking. NECESSITIES. Gives unfortunate a chance at a job with support and honor. 1.4 million serve (Time)
The US Air Force’s mission to fly, fight, and win in air, space, and cyberspace is accomplished by over 300,000 enlisted and commissioned personnel enforcing and upholding all rules and regulations set by the Air Force Instruction and Uniform Code of Military Justice. From the way we dress to the way we perform in our jobs, on-duty or off-duty, on-base or off-base; everything is part of the whole picture.
