Good evening, everyone I want to start by doing a quick poll, just raise your hand once I asked the question. Has anyone here ever saved a life from ending? If a good portion say, “you can save even more people by becoming an organ donor.”
If not a good portion say “who here will save someone’s life if it is as easy as writing two word?”
You are all in luck. Becoming an organ donor, you are entitled to be able

What organ donation is and how it works
Most of you probably do not know much about organ donation. Organ donation is the act of giving your organs to an ill patient after your passing. Organs that you can donate are your kidneys, heart, liver, pancreas, intestines, lungs, skin, bones, bone marrow, and your cornea. Organ Donation doesn’t often happen, but if the patient accept a organ transplant, he or she is put on a list by the United Network for Organ Sharing, or UNOS. The way hospitals decide if you’re a good candidate for an organ transplant is yours and the recipients blood type and tissue type has to match. Of course, the longer the patient has been waiting for an organ is a big factor in choosing who gets which organ. I know this sounds very disturbing, but it does not outweigh the outcome of giving someone another chance in life. Organ donation saves many lives that would otherwise end. For example, Gabriel Clark, a Twelve-year-old boy who received a kidney transplant when he was only two years old. Nine years later, thanks to the organ donor who gave Gabriel a kidney, he is able to have a second chance to have a bright future. You could be one of this people that save a child’s life like Gabriel.
Arguments against organ donation and refutations I know that there are many misconception about organ donation such as If you donate your organs, the hospital will not work as hard to save your life. This is false; doctors
Specific Purpose: I want to educate my audience about organ donation matching process, the requirements to donate and to receive organs, and how donations can be found.
According to United Network for Organ Sharing (2010) organ donations and transplantation are the removal of organs and tissues from one person and placed into another person’s body. The need for organ transplantation usually occurs when the recipient organ has failed (UNOS, 2010). Organ donation can save the lives of many individuals who are on the waiting list for an organ donation. Becoming an organ donor can be a difficult decision. Many people have the false beliefs about being an organ donor. An example would be if organ donor is on their driver’s license and a person is in a life-threatening accident everything will not be done to save their life. There is an increase need for organ donors and unfortunately the need for organ
I’d like to talk with you today about how easy it is to become an organ donor and the multiple lives that are benefitted from just one person being an organ and tissue donor.
Another reason why organ donation should be mandatory is to encourage medical and scientific breakthroughs. The Center for Organ Recovery and Education states that, “Research centers all around the United States are always in need of donated organs and tissues.” These donated organs and tissues can help cure diseases such as: Cancer, Asthma, Hepatitis, Diabetes, Neurological diseases, and more. (CORE) In addition, connectusfund.org states, “Medical schools are always in need of cadavers that students can work on during their training period.” Despite beliefs to the contrary, uwhealth.org, a website for the health program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, states that even if your organ isn’t viable for transplantation, it can still be used for research, including being used for medical schools as cadavers. These irrefutable pieces of evidence are yet another reason why organ donation should be mandatory in the United States.
1. Organ donation is a selfless way to give back to others, and to be able to make a huge difference by giving another person a second chance at life.
If I agree to donate my organs, the hospital won’t work as hard to save my life: When you go to hospitals for treatment, doctors focus on saving your life, not someone else’s, and the doctor in charge of your care has nothing to do with transplantation.
Organ donations not only save lives but also money and time. If organ donations became prevalent the organ recipient would no longer need dialysis. Since there is no need for dialysis the cost to use the machine would lessen; this means that the cost of equipment would decrease, saving the hospital and insurance company’s money. More lives would be saved as well as benefit from those that no longer need an organ. In the book titled “Elements of Bioethics” adult organ transplants are only that have medical insurance. If organs are taken from recently deceased the cost for those that has no medical coverage was lessen. The process of organ transplantation is life changing and time is crucial. With shorter waiting time it would put ease on the person’s heart to know that this lifesaving event would happen sooner rather than later. In addition, when the organ is taken from the recently deceased the risk would be eliminated from
I am a registered organ donor myself and have researched numerous scholarly articles, testimonies, and academic journals in the process of developing this speech.
Organ transplantation is a term that most people are familiar with. When a person develops the need for a new organ either due to an accident or disease, they receive a transplant, right? No, that 's not always right. When a person needs a new organ, they usually face a long term struggle that they may never see the end of, at least while they are alive. The demand for transplant organs is a challenging problem that many people are working to solve. Countries all over the world face the organ shortage epidemic, and they all have different laws regarding what can be done to solve it. However, no country has been able to create a successful plan without causing moral and ethical dilemmas.
Preview: today I would really like to speak to you about the need of organ donors all over the world, how you may come to be an organ donor when you die and in the end, how your own family and organ donor recipients gets advantage from your donation.
Many people have the false assumption that organ donation is against their religion. Most religions actually support it. Organ donation is giving the gift of life to somebody else, and that is one of the best things you can do. Not only is it
Hi, my name is Casey, and I will tell you of the Extreme importance of becoming an Organ Donor.
D. Thesis - Organ donation and Transplants are the most remarkable success stories in the history of medicine. They give hope to
Every thirty minutes someone gets added to the waiting list for an organ transplant (‘Frequently Asked Questions”). Not only that, but the number of patients being added to the waiting list is growing larger than the number of donors (“Organ Donation Statistics”). Many people are in the need of some kind of organ donation, so anyone who donates can help to save many lives. Organ donation is also such a great way to give back to people. Another thing is that to donate an organ a person does not have to pay money (“Organ Donation FAQ’s”). The only part that costs money is for the funeral if they are a deceased donor (“Organ Donation FAQ’s”).
According to the US Department Health & Human Service website a person will be added to the donor list every 10 minutes (Why Donate?, 2014). What if one of those individuals were in your family? Wouldn’t you want others to offer a life-saving opportunity to you? While making the choice to donate any organ is difficult you have the power to offer the needed organ to your own family or another family that may be losing hope.
