Imagine having a horrible disease from less than 1 year old. Imagine spending the first years of your life in a hospital. This is exactly what Peter Zucca (“Peter Powerhouse”) had to go through. But, instead of being bitter, he used his experience to help other people, and that makes him a hero.
Peter is a hero because he has used his experience with cancer to help other kids who are dealing with what he did. In the text, “What is Heroism,” It says, “... It may be a well thought out series of actions taking place over days, months, or even a lifetime.” This connects to Peter because he went through cancer and ever since then has been working to help people. In the text, What is Heroism,” the author states, “First heroism involves some kind of quest, which may range from the preservation of life… to the preservation of an ideal…” This relates to Peter because he was preserving an ideal. He knew that nobody, especially a child, should have to go through something like cancer, so he wanted to make things a little easier for them. In the text, “Peter Powerhouse Foundation Kicks off its Fight Against Childhood Cancer,” Peter does many fundraisers to raise money. The text says, “On September 20...the Powerhouse Putt… was held at the Freddy”s Fun Center…” That fundraiser brought in $3,450, which was enough to by 34 wagons. Peter has done many other fundraisers and has even hosted a blood drive, all to help kids in the hospital. Many wagons and even a movie headset to relax kids while getting an MRI scan have been bought due to Peter raising money.
