The modernize approach of religion and traditions of the old African culture now converted into an Afro-Brazilian culture that still has an impact and exists today which is also still celebrated in Brazil. I believe that without slavery, many of the importance of both sides of society selling slaves and buying slaves would not have shaped humanity in the modern world. “Two centuries had seen African and European cultural religious and linguistic habits merging into unique Afro-Brazilian social and religious customs, music, and storytelling (Nellis 62).” The cultural influence of Afro-Brazilians has persistently grew from celebrations like carnaval into a mainstream popular culture. Brazil holds a variety of different ideas, culture and people. These ideas and traditions include musical interests, dancing, different food dishes, literature and art, festivities, and religious practices.

To fully understand the role of the biennial today, we must look to its past. The earliest Biennials were assembled informally; easy groups of artists and museum personnel made the selections. Most of those in the show lived in New York City, although many had originally come from elsewhere. In 1937, the format was changed and the exhibitions became Annuals, with one year for painting, one for sculpture and various media. Some years, a single Whitney curator chose pieces; sometimes an outsider was added. In 1973, they went back to Biennials. Today the tradition remains the same as was begun fully in 1973. Increasingly in current shows curators search out a wide range of ethnic and gender varieties to fully grasp the breadth of American culture that is represented in current art work. Their has been much criticism of the Whitney and their exclusion of non-American artists. There are sections of critics who believe that the Whitney is only

The Canterbury Tales is a piece of literary work written by Geoffrey Chaucer that involves the stories of a group of pilgrims on their pilgrimage journey. Throughout the book, each pilgrim tells a story in order to win the best story telling contest. The Host, who thought that this contest would be a fun way to pass the time of the pilgrimage, created the contest. He told all of the other Pilgrims the rules of the contest, as well as the reward, which was free dinner in the tavern. According to the book, due to all the pilgrims agreeing to partake in the contest, the reward was an important one to them; many wanted to win, therefore told the best stories that they had.
“I like the ephemeral thing about theatre, every performance is like a ghost - it's there and then it's gone.” Perhaps I should not begin with the words of someone else when introducing and presenting myself, however as an actress, adopting the words of others is something that has become second nature. Maggie Smith’s words are very true to me as I know that this is all I will ever want to do. To immerse myself in something that takes so much preparation and which will merely be ‘ghost’ like soon is definitely what enthrals me. Like Bertolt Brecht I prosper to be in something incredible, theatre is about collaborating with the resources available around you to craft a moving work of art. It is this great love for theatre, the spoken word and
