We as coaches must learn to bridge all the elements around us to make one functioning unit.
I believe a coach is really a teacher and not just a teacher of athletics but also education and life. I believe the ultimate goal of a high school coach is to send their athletes into the next phase of their life ready and prepared to succeed.
Athletes need to be taught about hard work, dedication, discipline, intensity, desire (and how to reach that desire), goal setting, confidence, enthusiasm, faith, teamwork, rules, and of course, the importance of education.
I also believe that the best philosophy is to have a commitment to excellence in everything that you attempt as well as a commitment to victory that will unify everyone on the
A coach of any kink is important for any team to run and function in an appropriate manner. They keep the team in good condition, ready for the next task, and how to have an open mind about anything that comes their way. Coaches need to be flexible and be able to move things around as things and people change daily. Coaches are leaders and have the potential to inspire many people they come in contact with. With the right coach people and teams can get many things accomplished in a fast and appropriate manner. This is a skill many employers look for.
It is my job as a coach to help develop athletes physically, psychologically, and socially while helping them have fun by playing a sport. I will do this by being enthusiastic and having a positive attitude in practice, games, and while not coaching. This cooperative approach to coaching will create a sense of community within the team I coach, and the athletes will feel more welcome to discuss their thoughts, ideas, questions, and concerns with me. Creating this setting and relationships with athletes will only benefit the team by creating a team culture necessary for the well-being and success of high school sports’ teams. Success in sports means accomplishing goals set by the team, not winning. Winning is important, but just striving to win is even more vital toward the success of teams. As a coach, I will also be a motivator for athletes. Athletes will see me come to practice with a positive attitude, displaying my passion. This is the beginning of how I will motivate athletes. Motivation starts with my attitude, and athletes pick up on this. In order to motivate and want to be motivated, there must be a reason, a why? I will use the teams’ goals they will set, in order to motivate them to give their best effort in order to achieve success by reaching their
What is your coaching philosophy? (The beliefs and principles that will serve as your guide to action)
Values and beliefs are a product of an individual’s own unique history, experiences and education, the essence of everything they do and the reason they place importance on some things more than others. A coach’s values and beliefs have a major impact on their coaching behaviour as they motivate them, help them make decisions, show us who they are and better understand them. In the sporting environment, they keep them motivated whilst they deliver and perform their sessions and help to develop their knowledge and understanding of people they meet on a daily basis. Values allow the coach to decide how to deliver each session and how to choose the contents and equipment for individuals they coach. As they can affect coaching performance,
A coach is someone that has to be organized and everything that's happening around the game. I try to find players that are good enough to try to go somewhere in life and I think that would be good for my
In the past 40 years, extensive research has been done on the process of maneuvering strategies, methods and techniques that you can use it, and this IS the impacts, and the strategies and tactics of business is in alignment. Instead, coaches coach education discussion is often disconnected from conferences and magazines, which is a strategy to deal with the coach.
Coaches are important because they push you to be the best and teach you what you need to know. Good coaches will teach you got to play, but great coaches will teach you how to win. In order to be able to win your coach must push and teach you as best as they can.
A Coach is somebody who develops, improves or promotes changes in a persons ability and understanding. Coaches work with another person or a group of people and develops them as people using sport to progress them in their development. All coaches have certain responsibilities towards performers, their sport, their profession and themselves. Below I have identified what a coach may be required to fulfil.
Setting a solid coaching philosophy is very important when you are coaching youth basketball, because it will serve as a sound foundation for your team's and your coaching's efforts. A coaching philosophy must sum up your standards, values and expectations, the basis of all your practice sessions. Setting objectives and strategies is essential, so all efforts go towards the same direction. When figuring out your coaching philosophy, first of all take into consideration the age group you are coaching. You cannot set the same standards and expectations for children under age six and players over 12 years old.
Coaching is a form of development in which a coach supports a learner in achieving a specific personal or professional goal by providing training and guidance (Passmore, 2006). In sports, a coach is a person involved in the direction instruction and training of the operations of a sports team. Bad coaching is the use of verbal abuse, intimidation, humiliation or threats practiced by coaches in order to exert some amount of power over the players.
Sports are not for everybody, not only because of talent level, but because a certain mindset is to be had to be successful at any sport. A commitment is made. Forty hours of practice a week, the average amount of time spent practicing for football players, all for a one hour game, the average time of one game of college football, takes dedication. That is not even counting the time spent icing, resting, and studying the playbook or film, not to mention the school work to be kept up with for college and high school students. Most athletes have become used to the grind and juggling three or four time consuming activities all at one time while being successful at each. Waking up at the break of dawn, following a schedule, and suffering consequences when a bad choice is made creates character and discipline that is often needed for many little league, high school, and college athletes. The most important non tangible thing sports teach anyone is how to get back up after falling, how to get knocked down but get right back up and keep going, how to move on from failure and overcome it, focusing on the next important part of life. These skills of determination and courage taught through sports are essential for being successful in any part of life and are hard to come by anywhere
My coaching philosophy is centered on development, education, hard work, advancement, and a team first mentality. It is extremely important to me to help those around me develop physically, physiologically and socially. I know the value and excitement an education brings. Challenging athletes to do their best and giving them realistic goals will help them develop their skills. I love to say do everything you can to do the best you can. And by this I simply mean strive to give everything you have to what you are doing, while not putting yourself in harms way by over doing it. The team development as a whole is essential. We must help each other succeed and in doing so help the team succeed. Be courteous to your fellow athletes and an example
Have you ever been in a situation where you just want to speak what is on your mind? Assistant coaches get this awful feeling more times than what they should. In all sports at any level, there are always going to be the people who help the head coach. These people are known as the assistants. I find it quite fitting that these individuals are given the title assistant, given the fact that their role is exactly how one would define this word.
First off, what is a coach? A coach is an athletic figure who instructs, encourages, and trains athletes to accomplish a goal, more specifically, their personal goal.
Sports have been a very big part of my life ever since I can remember. I began to participate in sports when I was about six years old. Now, thirteen years later, I’m a sophomore in college playing basketball at a Division 3 school. Through the years I have seen many different styles of coaching and teaching done by my mentors. The variety of different styles and how each one taught me throughout my years is astonishing to look back at. My coaching philosophy I believe would hit many aspects and could teach athletes important values in their life.
