The teacher can only dream that maybe he or she will be able to help a child to find his or her place in the world and make a change to the betterment of our society. In composing my philosophy I will share why I am compelled to teach and my philosophy in regard to the education process. My Educational philosophy is defined in becoming a teacher as a set of ideas and beliefs about education that guide the professional behavior of educators. Also included in educational philosophy are one’s beliefs about teaching and learning, students, knowledge and what is worth knowing. My five general purposes for philosophy of education are: to set goals of plan, to teach useful and relevant information, be aware of students learning styles, modeling positive cooperative behavior, to look for solutions and to make sure those solutions are working.

The overall purpose of education is not only to shape society, but also to shape the individual. I firmly believe that education is capable of making a person better and improving the quality of life. Through education, a person can achieve unbelievable goals, and live a life that is fulfilling and successful. In this particular area in which we live, people have neglected to become educated and live in ways that are not necessary. An education can give a person opportunities of a lifetime. Education is such an important aspect of success, and can take someone farther than they ever dreamed.

Now let’s take a look at the overall purpose of education. Education is the process of knowledge being given to those previously unfamiliar with a certain matter. It lays a foundation for the future of the students, and it helps them to prepare for careers and for life in general. However, it is my opinion that education is not only a way to prepare one for the future, but it is also a way to support growth in the way a student thinks, acts and feels. Once a general border of knowledge is put forth, I think students feel encouraged to try and gain more. They will yearn for more information if it has been previously taught to them in a way that they can understand and feel enthusiastic about. I hope that once I become a teacher, I can give students that desire to learn. I want to make a difference in young lives, and help model them into the people that they are destined to become. I want them to be eager to learn and excited for their futures. I hope that they will be able to not only accomplish tasks related to basic scholarly subject material, but also have knowledge of concepts needed for life after their schooling is over.
