Reaction Paper #2 Physician assisted suicide is a touchy topic that is constantly brought upon discussion in the world today. The topic has become more common than it has ever been in the past. With complications due to religion, morals, social, and even financial issues, it becomes a topic with much controversy. Whether God deemed it a sin. Whether it is fraud upon in society. Whether it is financially a realistic option. These are all major topics of discussion with many different opinions nationwide when it comes to physician assisted suicide. The first major topic comes down to religion. I am catholic so I will use Catholicism as an example. People reflect on scripture saying that the bible does not seem to talk about suicide but I have found a verse that seems to speak otherwise. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 states "Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple". Yes there are its pros and cons, but it seems that the majority are all cons. When people hear suicide they immediately think death. Death usually puts people in a negative frame of mind. Killing oneself however brings upon both negativity and sorrow. What the majority of people don't understand is what the suicidal person is going through. He/she could be mortally I'll and doesn't want to continue suffering. He/she could also just be in the frame of mind to where he/she no longer wants to live in this world any longer. Why make the people that don't go through these suicidal thoughts make the general assumption on physician assisted suicide being a bad thing. It should be nobody else's choice besides the person that is agreeing to end their
