Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the most common cause of death, claiming 7.4 million lives in 2012 (2). Prompt identification, early intervention and appropriate disposition is possible with rapid and accurate risk stratification (3). The aim of this study is to determine the efficacy of using the Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) score as a risk stratification tool for patients presenting to ED with chest pain. According to the current guidelines of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association and National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, the use of a risk stratification tool such as TIMI risk score for patients with chest pain has been supported (4). It is a widely approved tool for risk stratification of patients with unstable angina or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (5). TIMI score is an aggregation of seven variables; age >65, three or more CAD risk factors, known CAD, two or more episodes of angina chest
