Planning education training programs Planning involves, among other things, interaction with people, organizing resources and having in mind the interests of people. It is, therefore, inevitable that there will be issues of influence and power that would result. Some areas that conflict may arise include cross-gender interactions, inter-ethnic or inter-racial interactions, committees, and decision making forums (Munduate, 2003). There arises an issue whenever one power tries to exert influence over another person. Therefore, one must be open to these instances that may result in conflict or attrition. Determining sources of conflict in interactions is an essential aspect in managing power issues (Munduate, 2003). One's reaction should enhance the value in individuals and minimize conflict by using language and body language. This means that careful choice of words is essential to exert influence despite conflict. Although power imply control, power is significant to ensure implementation of plans. Therefore, there should be a positive outlook to power issues. Power issues spill over into negotiations and influence the outcomes. There are different skills in negotiation, but it is necessary to ensure a win-win situation. There are several things that one should have in mind.
