During the Anne Frank play and the Anne Frank movie, Anne Frank: The Whole Story, a viewer could notice difference in the personality and actions of the main character, Anne Frank, and whether the portrayals of the well know icon were accurate and fair. Some difference in the movie and play between the Annes are: her love life and her attitude. Her love life is much more exaggerated in the play, where, since Peter is the only boy around, she tries to pursue him early on. Like when she got Peter to tackle her after she teased him. But, in the film, she is seen to have a curiosity directed towards him, and is shown to be less forward.
Anne’s personality is also different. It’s generally optimistic in the movie while not being overly hyper, obnoxious,
In conclusion, there are many similarities and differences to the movie and book we studied. There are many forms of The Diary of Anne Frank but all of them relate the her diary. Everyone that helped with the secret annex are very brave and courteous to everyone that was hiding there. In the end there are many people that did everything in their power to keep the secret annex from being found by the green police.
In this play Anne had made a relationship when she was trapped in a attic for two years. In this movie they need to see how Anne and Peter first met and reacted to one another. Then to the end how the felt about each other. Although the play and the movie have different actions. Both works contain the same major conflicts.
hen a conflict arises persevere and come upon the perspective as for where positivity can liquidate any obstacle in your way. Many examples in history prove that having a positive outlook can help the situation such as “The Diary of Anne Frank” and “Dear Miss Breed”. In these two pieces of literature, they show the ability to persevere through conflicts with having a positive attitude moreover, having a perspective on the conflict which bettered the situation. The best way to respond to a conflict is having a positive attitude and persevere through the problem consequently the dispute could escalate and worsen the situation.
While reading both the play version and the article about Anne Frank's diary, I believe the play version was much more meaningful. I think this because when reading this version Anne described a lot that was happening while they were hiding in the annex. Which made me feel how she was feeling. One part that I really felt like I was there was on page 314 when Anne says, “The air raids are getting worse. The come over everyday and night. The noise is terrifying. Pim says it should be music to our ears. The more planes, the sooner will come the end of the war. Mrs. Van Daan pretends to be a fatalist. What will be, will be. But when the planes come over, who is the most frightened? No one else but Petronella!...” When Anne says this I can picture in my mind the plans going over, just hearing the sound. I don’t think that the article is the most meaningful because in the article, I never really got the feeling that I was feeling what Anne was feeling.
The Diary of Anne Frank shows the changes in behavior and maturity for the main character, Anne, as she stays in the annex for two years. In Act I, Anne was more energetic and playful as a thirteen-year-old. Act I Scene 3 highlights Anne’s playful and clumsy behavior by talking about her pranks. On page 552, it states “Anne: Who cares if it’s dignified? I don’t want to be dignified. Mrs. Frank: [To Anne] You complain that I don’t treat you like a grownup. But when I do, you resent it” (Goodrich and Hackett 552). This shows that Anne is not ready to be treated like an adult. She dislikes when her mother expects her to be mature and she has a teenage mentality. She does not care that her behavior is not dignified and mature. She wants to have fun and frolic, much like what a child would want. Therefore, in the beginning of Act I, Anne acts childish and immature. However, in Scene 4 of Act II, it mentions how Anne has matured. “She is no longer a child, but a woman with courage to meet whatever lies ahead” (634). This quote shows that change that Anne has gone through as a
In the play, The Diary of Anne Frank, Anne is a dynamic character who is disrespectful and immature in the beginning of the play. When Anna had a nightmare in the beginning of the play, her mother came into her room to comfort her. Her mother offered Anne water and to stay with her until she fell asleep, but Anne said it wasn’t necessary to stay. When Mrs. Frank stated, “But I’d like to start with you . . . Very much. Really.” Anne replied, “I’d rather you didn’t” (398). This scene demonstrates Anne is both immature and rude because she rejects her mother’s help. Her mother is likely very hurt by this rejection, especially since, as her mother leaves the room, Anne asks for her father instead. In the end of the play, Anne shows she is a dynamic character by displaying the character traits brave and thoughtful. While Peter and Anne
Number 1: Throughout the play Anne has different feelings towards each of her family members. As Anne becomes older in the play some of her feelings also start to change. Towards the beginning of the play Anne feels jealous of her sister Margot and often wishes she could change and be like her. Anne feels that her Mother likes and values Margot more than her. This of course makes Anne jealous and makes Anne more jealous of Margot.
One of the most notable differences between the play and movie is the way the characters developed. Miller and Hytner portray many of the characters and their roles differently. For example, Abigail, her character was so different from the movie and the play. In the play, Abigail was a liar, and when confronted by the Reverend Parris about her actions in the woods, lied to him. Her bad reputation is not shown in the movie. In the
And how exactly do they show Anne’s mistakes throughout the play? I think the playwrights chose to do this so they could make a more interesting play and keep the play historically accurate. To start off with, Anne Frank is a young girl. Would a story of a perfect 13 years old be realistic at all? No one would be able to relate to that, and the play would not be as interesting as it would be if it were relatable.
Towards the beginning of the play, Peter and Anne have a teasing and kind of playful relationship. They don’t totally like each other, but they’re also very different. Anne is closer to her father than anyone else, but she doesn’t really enjoy her mother. Anne and Margot are fairly close, but Anne seems pretty jealous of Margot and her looks. Mrs. and Mr. Van Daan seem kind of rude to her.
You wouldn’t think about how when turning a play into a movie and making a slight change can affect the overall message of the plot. Often at times lines can be changed from the play once it is made into a movie sometimes even the whole scene or the morals of an actor may differ. It can be easier to relate to a character when your understanding of their ways or you feel you have been in a comparable situation nevertheless you may be able to relate easier than you think. These differences from a film verses a book can completely change or enhance how you feel towards different people that are in the play and movie. All these aspects can be seen and understood in Cat on A Hot Tin Roof and these play a part for me when both comparing and differentiating the play
the play. The “Anne Frank” play was very similar to the “Anne Frank” movie, but they also had some
The theme, identity was a significantly shown throughout the play. Anne Frank specifically, had many personality traits that goes along with her identity. Her identity is displayed through her independence, her relationship with others, and her conflicts that make her who she is.
What is oppression? According to Oxford Dictionaries, oppression is “The state of being subject to unjust treatment or control”. But oppression is certainly more than this, for it carries more emotional and developmental side effects than anyone who has not gone through hardship could ever imagine. Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, by Anne Frank definitely helps us to understand the impacts of oppression. This autobiography is the real diary of a girl named Anne Frank, who goes into hiding with her family to escape Nazi persecution during the Holocaust. Their circumstances are tough, but the eight residents of the “Secret Annexe” are able to survive for two years. Anne demonstrates that although oppression is hard to cope with and can
Anne Frank and Peter Van Daan have a relationship in both the play and the movie that helps both of them through the tough time of living in the Secret Annex. This movie helps us understand Anne and
