St. Juan Diego lived a simple life as a weaver, laborer, and a farmer. Every day, he would walk to daily mass, which was 15 miles from his home. He would rise before dawn to begin his journey to daily mass. One of these days, Juan Diego found out his beloved uncle was sick and dying. He was on his way to see him, when Our Lady stopped him on his path. She told him his uncle had been cured. It was very true. His uncle had indeed been cured.

When Los Lobos perform in concert today, audiences in the thousands cheer them on. It’s hard to believe that the group started out as just another garage band playing popular rock-and-roll tunes from the radio. In 1974 four high school friends from East Los Angeles formed Los Lobos (Spanish for “The Wolves”). David Hidalgo and César Rosas played guitar, Conrad Lozano played bass guitar, and Louie Pérez played drums.

The Hohokam were native American tribes that vanished in the 1400’s leaving behind archaeological evidence of a sophisticated culture revealing advanced canal systems, and the “Casa Grande,” a big house in the Sonoran Desert valley. Missionary, explorer and mapmaker Eusibio Francisco Kino, was the first European to discover the site in 1694 and named it “Casa Grande”. After the railroad came through in 1879, travelers would scratch their names into the walls, some took artifacts, even pieces of the wall were taken as souvenirs. In 1889, Congress voted to take action to protect the site from vandalism and looting. A maquiladora is a manufacturing plant based in Mexico where foreign companies import materials and equipment, on a duty free and tariff free basis, for the purposes of processing, manufacturing, or assembling goods which are then exported to other countries. The idea behind these maquiladoras promises a prosperous Mexican society. On paper, it really does seem like NAFTA is living up to expectations; creation of more jobs and a much less unemployment rate. Urban legends are still told today because some people believe in certain legends, or want to scare others. One legend that is part of the Hispanic culture and is still told today is La Llorona/ The Weeping Woman.

Due to violence Mexico has been affected with a lack of tourist, revenue and its acclaimed bad reputation.

Despite Cabo San Viejo’s (CSV) start in the late 1970s as a “fat farm,” catering primarily to women, the resort is now operating in a more niche and exclusive market, providing for guests who are largely affluent with high expectations for the service. In terms of pure demographics, the business welcomes 3,500 new guests each year. Between new and repeat customers, 70% to 80% are female. In the high seasons of winter, spring and fall, the average household income (AHI) exceeds $150,000 for 82% of guests; in the summer an AHI greater than $150,000 applies to 59% of guests. Most customers live in California and the West coast region and are in their 40s or 50s. It is interesting and should be pointed out that between 1992 and 2004, CSV’s average customer age has increased by 10 years of age, from 47 to 57. Behaviorally, up to 70% of new guests became aware of CSV via word of mouth, while 30% visited as a result of travel agent referrals. The most common reasons for patronizing CSV (regardless of frequency) are rest, a healthy vacation option, fitness vacation option and spa activities and offerings. The average guest takes 3 to 4 vacations per year and first time guests returned to the resort within six years at a rate of 32% and 62% of initial return visitors returned again within 6 years.
