The activity that I am most involved in is playing the violin. It satisfies different aspects of my life. It pushes me to be competitive, while it also encourages me to collaborate. It permits me to be a teacher, while it also lets me be taught. In terms of competitiveness, as I have gotten older, seating in orchestras has become less based on the politics of age. Rather, it has become based on blind auditions. Unfortunately, the impersonalness of auditions where judges can not interact with the musicians is very unnerving--it has forced me to come to terms with fighting my anxiety. There is no sympathy I can get from turned backs. Also, playing the violin has taught me how to accept failure. From making a mistake in front of a whole crowd
In the short story “Adventure of the German Student” by Washington Irving is about a German Student going to France during the French revolution and ultimately going crazy and put into a madhouse. There are different theories on where the source of evil came from which are the French Revolution itself, Satan targeted him personally, or Wolfgang himself. The German student’s friends noticed that he had been acting weird so they thought a change of scenery was needed to help him. This is shown when it is stated that “His friends discovered the mental malady preying upon him,” (Irving,2). This quote shows that even before he went to France he was already showing signs of being mentally ill. Another example is how he lived which was in his books
Although I would say I do enjoy playing soccer the most. I can say it’s the hobby I enjoy doing best. I have played soccer since I was a little kid and this sport captures my attention whenever I see a soccer ball right in front of my eyes. Fishing is a thing I like to do when I am stressed out. It connects in a way because even though it takes strategy to catch fish, it also takes patience. While you fish, you need patience so I use that to relieve myself. Another thing I enjoy doing for a living is going outside, sit down on a chair and just enjoy the fresh air outside. This is also another thing I like doing when I am stressed out. You can consider me as a calm, peaceful person. That is what makes me who I
I have been a part of the FFA and have gone to state in Chapter Conducting as a Green Hand. I have been in athletics, played basketball, ran track and have been a varsity cheerleader. I have found that these competitions are not exactly “my thing.” For me, I love my involvement in UIL Journalism, National Honor Society and Student Council. I love to write, and I love leadership.
Throughout high school, I have participated in numerous school sports and activities. Cross county had a tremendous impact on my life and the lessons I have learned from the sport I will perpetually cherish. Another activity I have been a part of for three years is yearbook. I am the senior editor of the yearbook and have, thus, learned to engage my leadership skills. Additionally, choir is an activity I am passionate about. Singing is an escape from the chaos of my day and I revel in the joy it brings me. Furthermore, my two friends and I brought forth the idea of a cross country ski club at our school, and we initiated its formation.
At school, I like to participate in schoolwide activities. I enjoy fundraisers, donating, and other activities that benefit the community. I also enjoy participating in interactive activities because I want to be a leader in the classroom and also be a leader outside the classroom. I like working in groups to interact with others in my class.
One non-academic pursuit that best describes me is Soccer. The fundamentals of the beautiful game was instilled within me starting at a young age. What the sport and passion has taught me is the ability to lead others, working with others to achieve a common goal, hard work, dedication, self-control, and most importantly defeat. The game has also shown me that no matter what race, gender, or ethnicity. Soccer is something that unifies people all over the world for a common interest. Looking at my character and personality, I can see the traits of soccer within me. From leading a group of peers down the road less traveled, learning how to adapt to situations when facing new adversity, and the struggles of enduring defeat. The greatest challenge
What happens when you mix an accomplished Writer/Director, a gifted Composer/Pianist, and Youtube? You get Player Piano - a sensational duo made up of Tom Grey and Sonya Belousova. Together these two artists create music videos that put a classical spin on popular songs and soundtrack themes. Their YouTube channel has over 100,000 subscribers and well over 5,000,000 views. I had the chance to talk with them about their success, music, and the production of their music videos.
When a violin is used multiple times, the strings wear-out; for this reason, it is important to release pressure on the tuning pegs so that the string doesn’t pop. taking breaks and relaxing while doing stressful tasks is important, because like a violin string, you will pop as well.
Softball Out of all the hobbies out there, my favorite would be softball. Softball is my get away place from everything. Every day I ask myself “what can I do on this lovely day?” and every time softball pops up.
The most important activity I have done in my high school career is chorus. During school hours, we spend time preparing for concerts, and outside of school we have rehearsals, performances, extracurricular choirs, and concert tours in which we devote much of our time.
A person could lose approximately one-hundred-and-seventy calories just by playing the violin for an hour. In addition, if one were to play at a young age studies show they develop better motor skills (Lai-Tong, Brendan). How did this fascinating instrument come to light? The violin has been around for over five-hundred years; scholars have debated the exact origins of the violin. Although, most scholars agree that the violin evolved from the fiddle and the rebec from the medieval period, the early 15th century (Estrella, Espie). In its early years the instrument was not seen as being magnificent, but in time it became a huge phenomena all over the world.
Some of the most important activities that I am involved in include ECF Math Club, Student Math League, volunteering at SciWorks, and National Honor Society. After the years I spent in Math Counts in middle school, being a part of the math club in high school and the math team at Forsyth Tech has been especially rewarding and has allowed me to continue to appreciate mathematics outside of my regular classes. Our two math clubs have been some of the most enjoyable activities that I have participated in since my freshman year. I particularly enjoy participating in the different competitions that we enter, as well as working alongside my peers in the team competitions. I believe that it is important to challenge oneself whenever possible and I am able to fulfill this because of the ECF Math Club and the Forsyth Tech Student Math League.
Over past millennia’s, when music was first coming to be recognized, there were many different types of instruments. Over many years leading up to today, types of instruments were created and perfected, for the most part. The different instruments created over time were the woodwind instruments, brass instruments, percussion instruments, keyboard instruments, and one of those was the percussion instruments. The string instruments cover a multitude of instruments, there are orchestral types and even some that are plucked. Violins, viola, cello, double bass, harps, guitars, lute, and even ukuleles are just a few of the many other stringed instruments there are. The definition of a stringed instrument is a musical instrument whose tone is
As of right now there are many activities that I would love to continue to participate in, but if I had to choose only one activity, I would have to go with Golf. Golf is a sport that teaches integrity, honor, patience, mental toughness, and many more though playing the game. These learned abilities are a vital part as a participant in the workforce, for they may teach us to be realistic, optimistic, motivated, and the ability to trust ones actions. Furthermore, I enjoy playing this sport, either as a competition in tournaments or just for fun with friends on my free
When I think of what is my personal “Violin”, my room: specifically my bed comes to mind. This is because it's dear to my heart because it has always been there. There are so many memories in my room, created through all of my stages of life so far. One large part of why my bed is so special to me is that after a day filled with school, sport and just life I yearn for a soft, comfy bed to just throw my problems away and get to relax. In addition I can focus on myself. Even in the morning I hate having to leave my bed and it's one of the most difficult tasks of my day; I'm constantly hitting the snooze button over and over until I have to get up or I'll miss the bus. If I could I would lay there all day sleeping. While I'm sleeping no one can
