Read the attached article "An Order of Influence Can Make a Difference." What leadership strategies are proposed by this author to overcome resistance to change? Compare and contrast this approach to at least one other assigned reading.
Answer
The author Steve Willis (2008) in his above named article seeks to discourage leaders from adopting a one dimensional approach to overcoming resistance to change. This approach is similar to the well know adage ‘my way or the highway’ which in some cases might work when there is autocratic or coercive power being applied. Usually however, this approach is not conducive as a long term strategy. He goes on to provide empirical data to buttress his argument in support of, rather adopting a

2. Project communication plans: What are the essential features of a project communication plan? You can describe the general components of a project communication plan, especially if you do not have PM experience, or you can describe the components of a specific plan from your professional experience.
If you describe a specific plan from your experience, how similar or different is it from what is described in the PMBOK Guide?
Answer
Communication has been described as one of the most important factors, if not the most important, factor leading to the successful implementation of a project. For a project communications plan to be effective it should be assembled very early into the initiation and planning phases of the project. The PMBOK Guide 4th Edition (2008), identifies five processes in communication management, namely, identifying stakeholders, planning communications, distributing information, managing stakeholder expectations and reporting performance. It is the duty of the Project manager therefore to harness these essential features or processes together and put in place a strategy to find out what the specific communication needs of the project are. They would
According to, A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) (4th.Ed.), “Project managers spend the majority of their time communicating with team members and other project stakeholders, whether they are internal (at all organizational levels) or external to the organization” (PMI, 2008, p. 274). The PMI also suggests that project managers should spend 90% of their time communicating. Statistics shows that 20% projects are unsuccessful because of ineffective communication (Figure 1).

The essential skill a group leader needs is to understand, group or team work is like the cycle of life (e.g., human, organize, and improvement). Therefore, the leaders must understand how individuals give up a measure of their independence when they join and participate in a
During the group work in the course it was apparent that a few traits stood out that would help a leader effectively lead the team. First, the leader must understand the project and be able to communicate that to the team members to improve commitment and ensure quality. Second, the team should have common goals as we set forth in our team charter. This provides measurable metrics which will help identify if the team is effective. Third, accountability is a priority from the very beginning. Everyone needs to know their part and the consequences if they are unable to meet the expectations set out by the group. Lastly, the leader must be able to create an environment of open communication to enable team members to give and receive feedback that will enhance the quality of the project.
The key to a successful project is in the planning. Creating a project plan is the first thing we should do when undertaking any kind of project. A project plan can allow a Project Manager to complete a project within a specified timeline and a specified budget.Reaching these important goals, will make the project customer happy and help the organization to build a good relationship with the customer for future projects. Project planning is fundamental in order to avoid failure and disappointment. In project management, effective planning is absolutely required if the individual or group wishes to deliver a finished project on time and on budget. From a Project Management article (http://www.brighthub.com/office/project-management/articles/40904.aspx) I read that during the project planning phase, plans are developed in the form of project baselines for schedule, cost, scope, quality and risks, all of which are components of the overall project plan. This gives the Project Manager basis for monitoring project progress and upon which to base decisions necessary for managing changes needed to help get the project back on track.
Abstract: There are numerous definitions of leadership, all of which contain elements related to people (the leader and the follower(s)), communicating in person or by the written word, actions (organizing, directing, coaching, and/or motivating), and for a purpose (meeting a goal(s) or accomplishing a task(s)) (ADP 6-22) (Fisher 2015) (Bolden 2013) (Hogan 2005). Additionally, everything done occurs within a given context. Effective leaders are poised, proficient, pertinent, and practical in the application of the art of leadership. This means leaders are ready to engage the group with effective methods and
Leadership effectiveness has little to do with matters of what to do or how to do it. As the book states, a good leader can start a process by adopting it, but is how they choose to proceed along the way that allows them to succeed. It was the fact they included their followers that allowed them to continue. They recognized that they could not handle all tasks and needed the talents of others to compensate for whatever strengths they may have lacked.
