Ronald Reagan doctrine was the 40th President of the United States. Reagan famous doctrine came into effect in 1981 all the way to 1989, the doctrine played a big role on the collapse of the Soviet Union. The Reagan doctrine was the expansion of his prior President Carter doctrine. The Reagan Doctrine indicates overt and unashamed American support for anti-communist revolution. As stated in the past the Reagan doctrine delivered what it promise that it would by supporting the Afghan freedom fighters to ending the illegal occupation of Soviets in Afghanistan.

These opposing views led to tension between the two nations. As a result, in 1947, President Truman issued the Truman Doctrine which stated that the United States would supply aid to any country as long as they pledged to be democratic. The Marshall plan was enacted in 1948 and it was similar to the Truman Doctrine except it provided financial aid to these countries. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, the United States used its foreign policy to help countries resist communist influence.
