Polar Bears
The polar bear waits patiently at the breathing hole, waiting for its prey. Seals are just one of the many things polar bears eat, from fish to seals, to beached whales. Polar bears are predators of sheer size and power.
One way that also helps polar bears hunt is their appearance. When hunting for anything other than a seal, the bear will use its white coat to get closer to the prey. Polar bears have huge claws and strong jaws with one pointed row of teeth. Polar bears also have small hairs on the bottom of their feet so they can have more friction on ice. The few things we can see on a polar bear that is not white are their eyes, nose, claws, and, paws. As you can see, the appearance of a polar bear helps them survive.

The polar bear possesses a low, flat skull with high-sitting eyes which is best suited to a semi-aquatic life. This also benefits the Polar bear by enabling them to put their heads into puppy dens or breathing holes.
The white phased black bear was said to have traversed barriers of the sea during the last ice age when glaciers covered most of northwest British Columbia. When temperatures started to rise, and glaciers started to retreat it is believed that the white bear was then isolated on the islands off the coast of BC. The white coats would suggest an adaptation to the white snow for hunting, however if that was the case, the evolutionary trail should have left the recessive gene behind when it was no longer useful to them in the temperate forests. Most research that is done on the Spirit bear is to try and understand the polymorphism of this species and how it has come to last among a low frequency in a minute area. Evidence now suggest that the reason for the white fur is actually a very important adaptation for the bear and is still very useful even in the array of
Polar bears are the top predator in the tundra biome. The polar bear mainly eats seals. Polar bears are the largest land carnivore on earth, their average weight is 990 for males, and 500 for females. Polar bears have white fur, but black skin. The black skin is used to absorb sunlight for warmth, while the white fur is used for camouflage.
Grizzly bears are a very unique type of bear. The bear has long sharp rounded claws. They also have large muscles in their back that help them dig. The bear has grizzled fur to help distinguish them from black bears. It is very important that we do everything to protect the Grizzly population.
White bears require a variety of physical characteristics to survive in the harsh environment of the Arctic. Large, wide paws with bumps allow them to distribute weight and grip more efficiently. Water resistant fur with a luminescent quality keep the bear warm and dry. Additionally, Sharp and powerful teeth have the ability to penetrate hard flesh. These special features allow not only the ability to thrive in a difficult environment, but also are important for communicating with other species and another bear.
The Polar Bear are found on the icy coasts that surrounds the North Poles and as far south as Hudson Bay. Around 60%of Polar Bears can be found in Canada with the remainings throughout Greenland, Alaska, Svalbard, and Russia where tend to be close to the ocean across the icy fields. The habitats are affected by human encroachment by hunting , and releasing chemical pollutants into the water. The Polar Bear eats Seals, Walrus, and Seabirds. Polar Bears can live up to 20-30 year. Polar Bears have a lot of fur and their fur is clear, white, or yellow. The Polar Bear is 6.5 ft-8.3ft. they can weigh up to 330lbs -1,322lbs and they can swim up to 25mph.
The polar bear lives up in the Arctic region where global warming and climate change are melting the ice caps that the bears thrive on. They use the ice as a platform from hunting and rest. The random pocket holes in the ice, where the seals pop up at, is where the polar bear catches its prey. With this reduction of ice, “the abundance of seals, and increases the amount of energy and time needed for hunting, leaving less energy for reproduction” (Endangered Species and Habitats).
Sun bears have a unique diet. Their dies consist of berries, insects, leaves and lizards. Sun bears favorite snack is honey. Cubs have very few predators. Their predators are snakes and large birds. Since cubs can’t turn their necks as far they’re more vulnerable than adults.
the last thirty years three quarters of floating ice cover has been lost, which has greatly affected the Polar Bears. This has been due to our use of fossil fuels. This photograph was captured in order to send the message that Polar Bears are losing their homes on the rapidly melting ice caps due to global warming and change has to be done.
A polar bear is one the most well adapted animals to its environment. They are very advance at hunting for prey like seals. Polar bears have white fur that can be used to be camoflauged when hunting for food, for its children and itself. Polar bears rarely ever seen when ever they are hunting for prey. Although polar bears need to eat a lot of food per day to be able to survive properly. The white fur can also be used to hide from predators. Polar bears could easily avoid predators with their fur and if they're seen they could also flee. Polar bears run can pretty fast on land but if they we're in the water they're a bot slow. Polar bears are great swimmers, it's just that they don't swim very fast. All polar bears need is a male and a female
The body of a bear is made up of their large head, long nose, and thick fur. Bears can’t see as good as other mammals their size, because there eyes are rather small. Their ears are sticking up out of their head which helps them hear well. Their sense of smell is better than their hearing. They use their sense of smell to catch food. Bears climb and swim to get their food. They are good at swimming and climbing, because of their tough shoulders. They have four feet and five toes. At the end of those toes are long sharp claws. They use their claws to dig for food or to attack prey.
I have always been interested in the big white polar bears When I was young, if I saw a polar bear on television, in a movie, or in a magazine, I thought they were so cute. Now that I am older I realize that no matter how adorable polar bears look, these animals are not cuddly! In fact, polar bears are ferocious hunters, and are the biggest carnivores among land animals. There are three things about polar bears that I have always wanted to know the answers to. What does the polar bear eat? How large can the polar bear get? And, what is their habitat like and what do they do all day?
They are to be found in the colors clear, white, and yellow Whenever polar bears are small they are called cubs. Polar bears normally eat ringed or bearded seals. Depending on their location, they also eat harp and hooded
A black bear eats feld grass and roots ,tuber, berries all kind of fruits and other foods and the polar eats seal, muskower ,small rodets,, sheli fish, fish ,eggs , kelp ,and berries. the eat fish and berries.
Polar bears are the most carnivorous of the bear family. Polar bears have large narrow heads allowing them to fit there heard in small spaces searching for food. They have a great sense of smell allowing them to sniff out predators form far away. They have the most sensitive nose of any mammal this allows them to smell a seal that is three feet under the snow, or thirty kilometers away. When they do find a seal den they jump and push all their body weight into the snow breakings free the seal from underneath the ice. This hunting tactic mastered by polar bears acts as a surprise attack, and the seal never knew what was coming. These bears incredible sense of smell allows them to pin point the exact spot where the seal’s den is under the ice, otherwise if the polar bear is wrong the hunt will not be successful. This method is so important because the
