Polar Ice And Climate Change Affecting Humans

Decent Essays
The polar ice and climate change is not only affecting the arctic, but it is affecting the human race, too. The ice melting as we all know, but what we don’t know is what is the after affect of ice melting. While the ice is melting it thins out and that causes the ice to spread. The ice has gone through Russia and now to Canada in four- five years. This distance of ice spreading used to take six-seven years. This means the ice is now melting more pushing the other ice faster! What some people may not know is that as the ice moves it carries pollution, and when it is spring and summer all the ice melts and pollution goes into the ocean. This not only will affect the ocean, but as ice melts this will affect animals in the arctic such as the polar bears. The polar bears will have a less; access to food, body condition, and a loss of access in…show more content…
The largest year-to-year decreases have happened within the summer and fall months. The warmth from melting glaciers, sea ice, and permafrost. Is causing rising sea levels. There are also icebergs that are formed after they break off of glaciers. In theory, the icebergs fall into the water also causing the sea levels to rise. In September the sea ice reaches its minimum amount. Every September the arctic sea ice declines at a rate of 13.4 percent per decade. The glaciers have estimated to have been losing mass since the 1970s. Antarctica has been losing about 134 billion metric tons of ice per year since 2002. In 2007 the arctic ice decreased dramatically, but around 2013 the sea ice started to recover. The Arctic sea ice is now decreasing, and with the sea ice decreasing it will affect the human race and the ecosystems underwater or on land. All the arctic animals will die off if all the ice is to melt away from the arctic. The poor animals won’t have a home to live in or places to catch prey. Do we really want
