Around the world, law enforcement agencies have common goals but each one performs their duties a little bit different from the others. This goes for Chinese and American police as well. Chinese police are comprised of five different departments and responsibilities. The most well-known is the public security police, which is the most common with America and other countries. Judicial police work as people’s procurators and judicial police in the people 's courts. State security police, similar to the FBI in America, and prison police, otherwise known as correctional officers. Judicial, State security and prison police comprise 14 percent of Chinese police, whereas public security police make up the other 86 percent (Li, 1997). These departments are subordinates to the Chinese Ministry of Public Security and they report to the Security Council, much like agencies in the U.S. are subordinate to the FBI and CIA. Both countries have the same mission to prevent crime and national security. Recently the Chinese government formed INTERPOL National Central Bureau, one in Beijing and the other in Macao and is headed by a Ministry vice minister (China). Chinese police forces have invested time and resources into deterring traditional and non-traditional crime. Each of the departments has the same ranking system and requirements for promotion. The departments all have the same uniforms badges. However, they do not have to report to the other departments (Li, 1997).

In the United States, there are city, county, state, and national police forces. They have very difficult and dangerous responsibilities. These public servants are required to perform many different jobs. They enforce laws and maintain order. They teach people how to help prevent crime and to protect themselves ( Mittleman, 2000). They offer assistance and take charge of many different situations such as car accidents, flooding, and hurricanes. Police
Many people know of the police officers of today’s world and that it is their job to enforce the laws set by their government, but not many people know the history of your typical everyday United States police officer or how they came about. The idea for neither your everyday police officer nor his or her department they work for or how a police department operates, originated in the United States. Over the years though America has made changes and adapted its system over the years to make it more suitable for its countries beliefs and practices.
communities in order to achieve goals and avoid conflicts. Racism, discrimination, and miscommunication have been the cause of countless police/immigrant community confrontations, and that in return diminishes the chances of recruiting Asian-American candidates towards a career in law enforcement.
The role of police officers is very significant to American history. Police work toward protecting citizens’ rights and helping America become the land of the free. The United States of America is built from the U.S. Constitution Bill of Rights and police play a major role in making sure American rights are met. Evolution has changed many of American history for the better; policing is part of those changes. As new issues in society arise, police must change and adapt to protect and serve the public.
Generally, the police forces of any given country are much more likely to be dealing with ___________ crime and much less likely, if ever, to be dealing with _________ crime.
The Nature of Policing in the United States will constantly change based on certain events that happen. The government will always look for ways to adjust, trying to make policing more efficient, fair, and effective. Unlike policing in other countries, the structure of policing in the United States is extremely fragmented. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, there are currently 21,000 federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in the United States. In different levels of the government, there are thousands of different agencies that are responsible for specific tasks. Due to a high amount of different law
The topic of police in general, and the brutal beatings, shootings, and arrests that have occurred over the past couple of years in the United States has hit the media full force, leaving many wondering what actions should be taken to keep the peace. Many question the system as a whole, and the training police officers receive, as well as their mental health. Across the borders, police are trained differently and follow various policies that may seem ridiculous or foreign, however, when comparing and contrasting two police systems, the similarities may be alarming, and the differences may be great, but knowing the strengths and weakness of each different system, can help towards progressing to have a better system and better training for police officers.
The principle role of police organizations is to uphold and enforce the law. Police organizations achieve this by safeguarding life and property, maintaining public order, and through detecting and preventing crime. Policing at the state level is composed of separate police organizations. At the state level we have the City or Local Police, County Sheriff and State Police, also known as Highway Patrol or State Troopers. The U.S. government gives each state the authority to self-govern so each state has its own Penal Codes and every state policing organization follows its own Penal Code. Policing at the Federal level is composed of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Secret Service, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). Federal policing agencies oversee all federal laws.
There are three different level of law enforcement within the United States who penalizes citizens who violate them. These agencies include federal, state, and local law enforcement who conducts operation on different levels. Each law enforcement agency is assigned specific duties within their jurisdiction. In order to maintain peace and order within the United States law enforcement officers are called to duty to serve day in and day out to protect public safety. Some believe that law enforcement is unorganized. However, these different agencies aide each other in certain situation to makes sure the mission is accomplished.
As I walk, I try and think of all the places I used to go to repair my lawnmower before my brother evicted me from the family business. There’s the hardware store down on Main Street, but it would be impossible to get there without getting run over by traffic. Lately more and more people are getting run over, no one seems to care much though. Sometimes I think people nowadays purposefully try to run pedestrians over. Then there’s the Home Depot by the highway, I’ve been there before, but they’re not very friendly. Every time I’ve tried to take my lawnmower there they end up calling the Police Department’s new task force to remove me from the property. Though, honestly I can’t figure out why the task force would bother dealing with me when there are criminals on the street who are the real nuisance, I’m just trying to keep my business going. I guess I could always go home if I’m really desperate. There’s a shed in the backyard where I keep odds and ends of my mowers and weed eaters, because you never know when you’re going to need odds and ends of things. Unfortunately, my house is clear across town from the shopping center and it would take me the rest of the day to get there. I pause outside to think on whether I should even try to walk home right now. My arms and legs ache terribly and my mower is getting harder to push, but I need to keep the business going. I must keep going.
Numerous police agency’s and police officials work on a distinctive local, state, and federal level and role. It has its individual area, sectors, and function, and work according to local streets parts inside policing. In order for any local, state, and federal police division to work successfully it must hire chiefs, deputy’s, and sheriffs who retain leadership and who uses creative thinking skills to teach comprehensive, and aggressive instruction to make the police division a tougher department by holding all its workers tasks for doing his or her job according to its agency’s guidelines and procedures known as code of conduct. “Municipal police work for municipalities such as towns or cities, county police and deputy sheriffs work for counties, state police work for states, and federal police work for the federal government. Some have the same duties as one another or very similar duties, and some have different or additional duties. Their jurisdiction is sometimes the main difference. For example, a municipal police officer normally has primary
Small town Holdrege, Nebraska is where I decided to look a little further into law enforcement on the State level. There are quite a few State Troopers in this area, or it seems to be that way anyways. I contacted Sargent John Wagner for an interview. I have to say these men/women in uniform are slightly intimidating. I’m not sure if it is the uniform, or the fact I grew up thinking these officers of the law are just that scary. I guess we shall see once we begin the interview.
I agree with you post, that if there wasn't good condition at work no one would be motivated to attend and actually do their job. The police departments need to have goals and plans to help motivate officers instead of punishing them. Police officers must have the right attitude, values, and drive but also having better working conditions and a good salary will keep the officer motatived to contuning do the great work they doing in their communites.
The psychologist serves a great purpose in the law enforcement as well. The police psychologists provide services that are used to counter police use of excessive force. The psychologists are there to characterize the types of officers who are known to abuse force and to recommend psychology-based intervention that could help police managers reduce cases of excessive force. Some think that the police departments should rely mostly on pre employment screening to identify violence-prone candidates.
Police is one of the important law enforcing agencies to control the pace of crime and law and order situation. Subordinate Police Officers are the key role players in this context. At present, crime is increasing; the criminal justice system is cracking under heavy workload; society’s expectations from the police are high but the police’s status and resources, working and living conditions leave a lot to be desired. Moreover, the law enforcers are encountering some humanitarian issues and limited facilities.
