When a police officer catches a minor committing a crime, they could do a few things. What that police officer does depends on what is best for the minor and the community. They could just release the minor with a warning, that could happen right there, at the police station or at the Juvenile Center Intake Unit. Another thing a officer could do is take the minor to a community program or to the Children’s Shelter for abused and neglected children if they see any signs that may indicate that they are in need of help. Writing a citation is a very popular choice because the minor and their parents sign a promise to see a probation officer at the Juvenile Center or the officer could just take the minor to the Juvenile Center Intake Unit. A minor
As crime rates keep rising in the United states, the demand for more law enforcement will also rise. I chose to follow this path because its is a path worth following. I want to be capable of making a career out of this field of work. I am fully prepared to handle the physical and emotional stress this career as to throw. Being prepared to enter the work of a Police Detective or a S.W.A.T. member is key.
Every time a police officers puts on his/her uniform his/her life becomes dangerous. They put their lives in harm’s way to protect the citizens of their town/city. Unfortunately, not every Officer lives to tell their story. Some of them die heroic deaths while others do not. These officers are a symbol of hope for some people, and a symbol of control and tyranny to others. Some honor their code, while others abuse their power, entirely. We all owe a great debt to those who die in the line of duty. In this paper I will be telling you about Chief of police, Steven Eric DiSario. Steven DiSario, was born in Salem, Ohio on February 2, 1979 and died Friday, May 12, 2017. The 38 year old was the Chief of Police in Kirkersville. Eric was married and had a
I shall be able, to then go into the police academy, and use the skills I learned to make this country safe
Police Academy and policing are some of the most controversial things in today 's world. This particularly pertains to our society, in which it seems that there is a different incident involving the police every week. It is extremely controversial, the media uses its power of manipulation to “expose” the police often abusing their power. This is leading to a division of our nation. There is a large clash of who 's to blame in this situation, we can even see this in class based on the various opinions of my fellow students. Some of my classmates and many others blame things like police academy, methods of policing, and the cultural separation between police and the community. I interviewed somebody who lived through both. He was in the police force for 21 years and continued on to teach and direct police academy for 25 years.
For some reason I am one of those police officers that like to watch cop shows. I have always been a fan COPS even before I was a policeman. Since becoming a police officer in 2006, I have since realized that there are a lot of citizens intrigued with police officers. I am not saying this because I am a police officer, but a lot has got to do with the climate change of law enforcement over the past few years. I think people assume that we are not like everyone else, however it does take a special type of person to a proper officer.
I also agree that the perspective is very drastic. However, this position is from members of the African American community, and other ethnicities who have observed years of discrimination against them by white America and law enforcement. It is the mentally of a group of people who feel as though their voice is being ignored when it comes to the inhumane treatment of minorities in the United States. These feelings have been expressed to me numerous times throughout my law enforcement career. However, not wavering I accept the task and will spend countless hours trying to change that outlook. The statement regarding white and black police officers did not come from any research or study. It came from my numerous conversations and interviews
Professional policing is a theory that advances authoritative methodologies, which bolster the orderly utilization of associations and critical thinking strategies, to proactively address the quick conditions that offer ascent to open wellbeing issues, for example, crime, social issue, and dread of wrongdoing. On like Bohm and Haley, 2014 (pg 243) reflects on this aspect professional police agents focus on a narrow goal of reactive crime control, in which the police isolate themselves from the community as the experts on crime fighting.
The role of police officers is very significant to American history. Police work toward protecting citizens’ rights and helping America become the land of the free. The United States of America is built from the U.S. Constitution Bill of Rights and police play a major role in making sure American rights are met. Evolution has changed many of American history for the better; policing is part of those changes. As new issues in society arise, police must change and adapt to protect and serve the public.

Starting In 1829, Sir Robert Peel began developing his theory of policing. These nine principles are as relevant today as they were in the 1800's. Peel established the Metropolitan Police when he served as Home Secretary of England. Since Sir Robert Peel introduced his principles of policing in the early 1800's, our country has continued to follow his ideas of effective policing. Community policing is based on Peel's concept of prevention.
Police officers have a very reputable job, meaning they must be professional at all times. The job of a police officer is to protect and to serve the public. Since most of their time is spent in the public eye, they are expected to maintain professional behavior. The first step in projecting their professionalism is their dress. They should be dressed neatly,
"Changing view and role of law enforcement in society" was my topic and my thesis statement was, "The Justice System is becoming corrupt because less law officials are doing their duty to serve and protect, enforce the law, and support victims. " I argued that the Justice System is not all for Justice. I talked about how the police like to combine their authority with force to get respect. There are good cops out there, but they are put in the dark because of bad cops. Something that surprised me about my topic, was how many police actually suffer for their crimes.
The earlier development of the law enforcement was developed by a man named Sir Robert Peel also known as the “Father of Modern Policing” (Bennett & Hess, 2007). He was born February 5, 1788 in Chamber Hall near Bury in Lancashire (Bloy, n.d.). He was the one who greatly influenced and set forth the fundamental principles of the police force. He developed an organized force called the London Metropolitan Police in 1829 that protected the people who were victimized due to high unemployment, poverty, and crime. An organization is “an artificial structure created to coordinate either people or groups and resources to achieve a mission or goal” (Bennett & Hess, 2007). The police’s goal is to protect and serve their community. Although the term of a police officer is mixed up with a peace officer “all police officers are peace officers, but all peace officers are not police officers” (Walker & Katz, 2011). The principles that Sir Robert Peel set for the police include:
If I was elected president, there would be many things that I would like to change but one of the most important one to me, would have to be how police officers operate.
Patrol accounts for the biggest portion of police work in most police agencies. The terms “patrolling” and ”on patrol” generally refer to what officers do while not handling calls for service—officers do this mostly in patrol cars, but sometimes on foot, on bicycles, on horseback, or the like. While on patrol, officers may look for traffic violations, suspicious behavior, disorder, and unsafe conditions. They may also look for opportunities to interact with the public in casual or more formal situations. This is all considered patrolling.
