The majority of Americans have become apathetic when politics or the federal government are brought up in either the news, inside classrooms, or amongst friends and relatives. Nevertheless, people tend to have an ignorant state of mind towards politics and become so unaware about what the federal government does on a daily basis. Not to mention, Americans refuse to accept that the federal government has people working in the Senate and in the House of Representatives, recognizing and debating their top issues they have back in their districts. Congress issues many bills and legislates a numerous amount of laws that are appropriate for the problems that the American people deal with on a daily basis. Moreover, the ability to improve the Constitution by amending it has helped cooperate with Congress by fulfilling the needs of the American people. In the end, not only were states given rights by the Constitution, with the addition of the Declaration, which gave alienable rights to each American. Thus, American citizens apply to Civil Liberties; specifying how each individual has freedoms that are guaranteed to them, and no higher power has the right to restrain these freedoms. Without a doubt, Civil Liberties are the extreme freedoms the writers of the Constitution feared losing when leaning towards a democracy. This resulted in the Original dilemma, explaining the conflict between freedom and order, which is what the framers of the Constitution dealt with. Order brought fear
Having Civil Liberties meant everything to the Colonists. They wanted rights and free to settle anywhere they want. They didn't want to pay taxes for England or be part of England anymore. Civil Liberties motivated the Colonists to pursue independence because they wanted freedom and rights more than anything. They were all willing to sacrifice their own lives for freedom and rights. They wanted to be their own country and separate from Britain. Thomas Jefferson stated in the Declaration of Independence that all men have unalienable rights, rights that can not be taken away. Jefferson wrote this document because he wanted Civil Liberties. Civil Liberties drove everyone to having independence. The Colonists decision to declare independence over Civil Liberties was significant, even to this day because the country of the United States have freedom of speech, the right to vote, and unalienable rights. America is most free country in the whole entire world. We have the U.S. Army fighting for our freedom to this day. People born in the U.S are really grateful for having Colonists fight in the Revolutionary War for Civil Liberties back
Civil liberties is the individual rights and freedoms that government is obliged to protect, normally by not interfering in the exercise of these rights and freedoms. However, over the years the rights for the people have either have become open and free or it has become restrictive. The bill of rights in terms of scope in civil liberties protection has changed by three paths such three paths are increased in authority of federal government, the Supreme court shifted its interpretation of constitutional provisions in areas like freedom of speech, free religious practice, expansion and contraction of protections, and finally additional liberties to be protected beyond those specifically listed in the constitution.
From the beginning, the United States Constitution has guaranteed the American people civil liberties. These liberties have given citizens rights to speak, believe, and act freely. The Constitution grants citizens the courage to express their mind about something they believe is immoral or unjust. The question is, how far are citizens willing to extend the meanings of these liberties? Some people believe that American citizens take advantage of their civil liberties, harming those around them. On the contrary, many other people feel that civil liberties are necessary tools to fight for their Constitutional rights.
Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to be free from unreasonable searches of your home, the right to a fair trial, the right to marry, and the right to vote are all examples of Civil Liberties that every American is guaranteed under the Bill of
Civil liberties are our natural rights, such as freedom, equality and pursuit of happiness, which the government cannot modify by making new laws or by judicial interpretation. Civil liberties are important because it helps restrain the power of the government to dictate how we behave. This ensures that our daily life is not interrupted by authoritative figures that may just try to intentionally cause harm. Civil liberties contribute to the protection of our personal choices, such as the right to abortions. The bill of rights is important to civil liberties because it does not allow the government to govern our personal lives. Unfortunately, with this war against terrorism, we have given those authoritative figures the ability to mandate
In 1787, the Constitution of the United States was just written on September 17th. During this time, the common man was still under the power of the Articles of Confederation, a weak document that loosely connected the 13 former colonies. Although the Articles didn’t give the United States of America the strong centralized power that it needed, opposers to the new Constitution would argue that the Constitution took away the rights of the common man and gave that power, that the individual once had, to the federal government. Although this statement is correct, the federal government’s newly given power was used to protect the fundamental rights and liberties of its citizens and create a powerful government in the hopes that it would benefit
Without these liberties I would not have the right to freedom of speech, privacy, fair court, marriage, voting, press, and more. The right of speech and privacy are ones I take advantage for everyday, it is hard to imagine the starkly different world I would live in if those freedoms were stripped away from each American. Our rights are what enable our freedoms to shape this country into who it is. Meanwhile, Civil Rights cases have a greater influence on states as a whole. Their decisions dictate the actions of business, organizations, the government and people, It is through the Judicial sector of our government that actions are taken to ensure America continue to follow the laws and ideals set out by our founders.
One might ask the importance of civil liberties after so many years. The answer is that we are all touched by these liberties every day. Even though civil liberties were embedded into the Bill of Rights in the late 1800’s, we today, as Americans, still have the right to be protected against any abusive power used by the government (Bianco & Canon, 2015, p. 106). Although Americans are protected fully today, it took over a century for all civil liberties to be implemented. With several civil liberties in place, which is most important? Which liberty protects us as Americans, most significantly? I believe all of our civil liberties are equally as beneficial and lead to the safety of every citizen in the United

Definitions Civil liberties refer to the fundamental freedoms and rights that are secured by the constitution, or the Bill of Rights. They also refer to safeguards against the authority actions. For instance, the First Amendment assures citizens the freedom to exercise their preferred religion (Patterson, 2014). Therefore, the government cannot hamper the rights of an individual to worship. In this respect, the individual has liberty from government’s activities.
Civil liberties are rights for freedom of speech and religion, that are so significant that are outside government’s authority to regulate. Defined as protected laws allowing everyone to have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, abortion rights, and other right’s stated in the first 10 amendments, which are better known as the Bill of Rights.
However, one can contend that with the Constitution came its own adversities, leading to a federal government which possesses too much power, rather than the balance that it promised. The Constitution was written and expounded by federalist James Madison, and it became our nation's basic law. With the constitution, Congress was given the right to levy taxes, regulate trade between states and other countries, and there was the creation of a federal court system, an executive branch with power of checks and balances, and amendments were easier by being ratified if 2/3 of congress and 3/4 of the house passed it. However, the constitution does not restrict the central government enough, and states' rights are not sufficiently
Are you familiar with the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution? The Founders of our American government created the Bill of Rights to protect our individual liberties. They greatly believed in the significance of the overall creation of these particular rights, which happens to be the basic freedoms of us Americans. However, our government has compromised on these distinct liberties in the name of security and general welfare in various ways.
These liberties include freedom of thought, belief, expression, and assembly; protection against unreasonable searches and captures; and provisions for a court hearing prior to government taking of a person 's life, liberty, or property. Civil liberty is not absolute, it is subject to limitations in order to secure or promote the greater interests of the community. The State may protect civil liberty through its laws against interference by other individuals, or through its constitutional system against interference by any single part of the Government. But the State always possesses the power, through its legal power, to limit and shorten or even destroy civil liberty.
