Found on “34 Facts about Pollution”, the text says 14 billion pounds of garbage are dumped into the ocean every year and most of it is plastic. It makes you wonder why people do it? To act cool or to act like a complete idiot? As a result for oblivious behavior, we won’t be able to drink anywhere without some kind of trash in our water. And we won’t even be able to shower ourselves with out some plastic coming out from the faucet.

Leaving plastic on the beach or throwing trash on the floor can cause it to go into the ocean, creating a dangerous environment for marine life especially since plastic never goes away, it can only get smaller. People do not realize that the trash that they throw on the floor , even if someone lives inland, can end up in the ocean. An estimated 299 million tons of plastics were produced in 2013, representing a 4 percent increase over 2012, and confirming and upward trend over the past years” This means that more and more trash is added to the 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic floating in the ocean. Almost everything around us is made out of plastic, this is later misused and ending in the wrong place. The Center for Biological Diversity wrote “In the first decade of this century, we made more plastic than all the plastic in history up to the year 2000. And every year, billions of pounds of plastic end up in the world’s oceans. Most ocean pollution starts out on land and is carried by wind and rain to the sea. Once in the water, there is a near-continuous accumulation of waste.” Our plastic is misplaced and it escalates from there. However, plastic pollution hurts us as well. “Trash in the water compromises the health of humans, wildlife and the livelihoods that depend on a healthy ocean;” wrote a non-profit group called Ocean Conservation. Water pollution has become a major problem in our water sources. People think that when they litter or dump in our waters that their little contribution will not hurt anything, but everyone’s little contributions add up to some major problems. Our water ecosystems and the species that reside in them are being destroyed and we need to take the steps necessary to stop this. Why would anyone use the source of most of the world’s food as a dumping ground for garbage? People need to start realizing what it is they are doing when they do not take the proper steps to dispose of their garbage and the problems they are making for the future.

Over the few years, humans have discarded millions of tons of garbage into the oceans. Ever wonder where the cup you threw out this morning will end up? Or the plastic spoon you used for lunch? How about the cap of a water bottle? The calamitous plastic ends up in the water, taking thousands of years to decompose. The consumption of plastic by the marine life is perilous and the leading cause of death for life on shore.

In conclusion, as stated earlier, most of our planet is made up of water and us as humans are slowly destroying it by dumping are wastes and unwanted items. Don’t throw trash in someone else’s house because you wouldn’t like it very much if someone did that in your house. Next time you are on a beach and are done drinking your bottle of pop, don’t leave it on the beach, bring it back with you and dispose it properly. Ocean

When a person is asked what water is, the first things that they say are; water is drinkable, used for showers, simple, washing, etc.. But people don’t really know how complex and important water is for our kind. Water is one of the most precious things we humans have, but we don’t realize it and we damage it without caring for the consequences. Water and water pollution are two things that we should all have in mind. Even though we see water as just a liquid, but there’s more to it than its form or state.

What is Water pollution? Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies. When I was young, I always think that most of trash gets burned or goes into landfills which are not healthy for our environment. A research was found that was told there were 8 million tons of plastic in most oceans the plastic is worse then not picking it up. The most problem is just that the plastic isn't the only problem is that most people has to at least commit to at least trying to pick some up and even just one piece of plastic or trash. There are some reasons for the problem. The first reason is that the effects of the thrown rubbish are very dangerous and extremely harmful. Another reason of that problem is that people have created all these disasters, which are connected with environmental pollution. The more modern technologies are created, the more unbelievable become wastes and remains of what is produced. From this, man is responsible for what he or she created and for the following consequences. Anxieties about the environment have made people more aware of their environmental footprints or the kind of waste they leave behind during their existence. The need for the ocean makes it essential to the human life. First off, the federal government is failing to make sure companies are not dumping waste directly into the water. In addition, the pollution in the water is killing sea life and causing many species to go extinct. Finally, the pollution that builds up in the ocean is dangerous because it can carry many diseases.
