Pollution has become a major issue over the years because it contaminates the Earth’s environment and affects human health. While some environmental pollution is a result of natural causes such as volcanic eruptions, most is caused by human activities. The increase of various types of pollution has made cancer pollutant more prevalent among the people, raising the risk of getting cancer. After being exposed to theses pollutants, the effects may be immediate or delayed. Some of the delayed effects, due to the exposure, can go unnoticed for many years. Another major issue that pollution creates is the tremendous cost for preventing and cleaning it up. However, we can not regulate the pollutants to the extent where there are no more possible …show more content…
One possible way to control the carcinogenic pollutant is to get a bill passed by Congress, which makes it mandatory for industrial places to reduce the amount of pollution they create. By reducing the amount of pollution production, the exposure level of the carcinogenic pollutant will decrease. This law enforces the industrial companies to establish new methods and strategies to create their products with less pollution distribution in the end. As another preventive measure, there are products available to the population that contains carcinogenic elements that can be taken off the market until they are redesigned and approved by the government. One last effort to regulate the cancer pollutant is to increase the funds for research so that we can have a better understanding of cancer and how to cure it. Consequently, we can create better drugs available to the population, which can decrease the chances of people, with cancer, from dying.
Now that we have the regulations into effect, the next thing to do is determine appropriate levels of exposure and the risk level. However, this raises the question of how do determine what a human life is worth. There is no conclusive answer to this question, so we have to take risks. If we take the total number of deaths that occur every year in the world or a particular country and divide that by the number deaths
Every day when looking out a window, people see a beautiful earth. The earth is intriguing, but hinges on a delicate balance. Many natural resources keep the grass green and the sky blue. Man has made quite an impression on our world, and has transformed the earth's resources into tools to make life easy. However, mans' manipulation on earth has become detrimental to the health of our planet and the safety of mankind. Through the use and production of resources such as oil and energy, man is gradually poisoning the earth. Pollution has become such a dilemma in society; there is no real control or a feasible solution to society's recklessness. Without complete change, our system will collapse. The earth will eventually retaliate with disaster, or corporate control of our economy will cause hysteria and depression. Evaluation of the consequences and repercussion of worldwide pollution, may give people a better idea of what the future holds.
We need a solution to reduce pollution in the air. The risk of cancer has dropped because the government creates a program to cut air pollution (Barboza, 2014). The author provides this example to show that California’s government are working to solve this
Chemical pollution plays an important role in contribution. Compared to how the earth was like before, people started to notice how damaged the earth was and they took their responsible right away. To stop the chemical pollution crisis, the government have passed out laws to put the restriction on the use of toxic substances to protect land, humans, and animals. Those acts include the penalties if the companies do not follow and the improvement after each year. As a result, many of factories are enacted the laws and using different filters like scrubbers, to limit toxic amount into the air. The ozone layer once has been destroyed with a hole now is restored. Some solutions to eliminate pollution could be plant more trees and create more alternative energy that released less or no pollution. Schools, teachers, and parents should promote the effect of chemical pollution to the students and teach the students how not to overuse the chemical products. With all the solutions above, the health of the earth, animals, and humans will be restored and bring back the fresh air. Thus the future of chemical pollution this planet depends on human's action, starting from
The global pollution is one of the major hazards human civilization is confronted with at present. Few issues in the history of mankind had such a pronounced and universal effect on the entire population of our planet, its environment, flora and fauna. Pollution is a problem that also needs to be analyzed and handled in terms of its perspectives in the future, both short- and long-term. Pollution is defined as the process and result of the introduction of foreign, contaminating substances into natural environment that have a potential of damaging the environment or human health (Briggs 2). It has diverse forms including air, soil and water pollution, radioactive contamination, littering, thermal and some other kinds of pollution. Climate change is the direct and most alarming consequence of the global pollution, with greenhouse effect and global warming being its most evident outcomes. Global pollution has various forms and many negative consequences that should be recognized, studied and controlled by the global community.
Pollution refers to impurity into the environment of particles which has harmful effect on health. There are many forms of pollution, like air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution which impact health and environment. High air pollution level is responsible for health issues in Delhi. Over the last few years, the level of pollution has changed significantly in India and specifically in Delhi.Due to increased traffic on roads, traffic movement is slow which forces vehicles to move in lower speed which reduces efficiency and emission level increases. Another cause of vehicular pollution is increase in number of diesel vehicles, which is also a major contributor to ai
Air pollution is produced by different means, but one of the biggest producers of air pollution are factories, vehicles, and from burning things in general. Air pollution is caused by vehicle emission because while they are burning fossil fuels they are releasing a chemical called nitrogen dioxide, which has a possibility of causing harm to the human body. Factories cause air pollution by using exhaust vents is the working area in order to remove any chemical fumes from the workplace out into the atmosphere. Cancer is the second leading cause of death, but out of all the different types of cancers out their respiratory cancer and lung cancer is the deadliest of all the cancers out there today. This subject is important because the more the world gets industrialized the more pollution that would be produced due to all the factories that would be built in order to reach demands for their products. I have taken the approach of reducing the amount of pollution I contribute by walking to places if possible and by carpooling whenever it is possible in order to reduce the amount of pollution that is being thrown into the atmosphere. Here I will talk about the issue of air pollution causing cancer to people all over the world.
Did you know that your daily actions are one of the many causes of cancer to others, and can cause you to have cancer yourself? Humans make changes to the environment everyday many of these changes produce or use carcinogens. Carcinogens is a substance said to have the potential to cause cancer. Information found from “Environmental Cancer Risks” by all different kinds of opposing views. While some believe that the exposure to carcinogens are based on the people's lifestyle and choice of consumption, carcinogens are everywhere in any environment because it’s in the polluted air and it’s used in pesticides used to grow our food that we eat everyday.
Capturing and sequestering the CO2 emitted by fossil fuel combustion before it enters the atmosphere.
The purpose of this paper is to find the correlation between air pollution and society’s responsibility to promote a cleaner safer environment for its citizens. My research question is: How can society help keep the air we breathe safe? There are so many chemicals and other vapors that are emitted into the air that it becomes a chore for people with respiratory problems, i.e., asthma, to breathe without some assistance and in some cases of older individuals, carry an oxygen tank daily. Can some of these health issues be prevented if we managed our air pollution better?
Great progress has been made in achieving national air quality standards, which EPA originally established in 1971 and updates periodically based on the latest science. One sign of this progress is that visible air pollution is less frequent and widespread than it was in the 1970s.However, air pollution can be harmful even when it is not visible. Newer scientific studies have shown that some pollutants can harm public health and welfare even at very low levels. Epa to late A long time reconsidered principles to five of the six regular pollutants liable will national air personal satisfaction measures. Epa settled on the principles a result new, peer-reviewed experimental investigation indicated that existing principles were not satisfactory to secure open wellbeing and the nature's domain. (United States Environmental Protection Agency,2017). Today, pollution levels in many areas of the United States exceed national air quality standards for at least one of the four common pollutants:

Efforts to improve the standard of living for humans--through the control of nature and the development of new products--have also resulted in the pollution, or contamination, of the environment. Much of the world's air, water, and land is now partially poisoned by chemical wastes. Some places have become uninhabitable. This pollution exposes people all around the globe to new risks from disease. Many species of plants and animals have become endangered or are now extinct. As a result of these developments, governments have passed laws to limit or reverse the threat of environmental pollution.
According to the World Health Organization, approximately 7 million premature deaths annually are linked to air pollution. Air pollution is described as “a mixture of solid particles and gases in the air” (“Air Pollution” MedlinePlus). This form of pollution mainly occurs from the burning of fossil fuels, noxious gases from vehicles, manufacturing chemicals, ground-level ozone (a reactive form of oxygen and a primary component of urban smog), and tobacco smoke (“Air Pollution” National Institute...). These emissions suspend deadly particles around in the air that can remain in the environment for long periods of time. People exposed to high levels of air pollutants may experience “burning in their eyes, an irritated throat, or breathing difficulties” (“Basic Information”). Moreover, this pollution can lead to serious, long-term health concerns including accelerated aging of the lungs, lost lung capacity, decreased lung functionality, and developed diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, and possibly cancer (“Health Effects”). Air pollution poses a threat to the majority of Earth’s population due to the fact that the average adult breathes in 3,000 gallons of air everyday (“Basic Information”).
Each day our lives are changing due to the harmful effects of air pollutants. Air pollution is a public health issue and an environmental problem we must face head on, which causes extreme harm. In fact, one in eight deaths worldwide are a result of air pollution exposure (World Health Organization, 2014). This is only one of the side effects of air pollutants that are taking over our Earth. In order to put an end to air pollution, we must recognize what industries are causing air pollution and work to manage them. An ultimate solution of reducing air pollution needs to be established worldwide. Therefore, it can be seen that air pollutants have negative effects and a harmful impact on human health, which can be seen through the health risks associated with air pollutants, the industries that cause air pollution, and the solution of air pollution.
Pollution is everywhere! People even pollute without even knowing it. They simply throw their soda can on the ground, or even as small as throwing their cigarette on the ground. The point is that pollution is terrible and it needs to be stopped. I already knew that pollution was around. In fact, it's been around since about 1948, but of course that is only when smog came and pollution got very bad. Pollution has been around many years before 1948. I wanted to find as many possible ways to lower the pollution numbers, so I decided to look into it a bit more. I saw a few interesting facts and wanted more, a ton more. I now know multiple ways to stop pollution and a few ways to prevent it. I still had a few questions about pollution.
