Everyone knows the character Ponyboy, but have you ever stopped and thought of the kind of person he is? Well I’ll tell you he’s brave, lucky, kind, and caring. Some traits you don’t really see in the other characters in the book, maybe that’s what makes him special. Maybe that’s why there is no other character like him. Ponyboy is the bravest character in book. One reason is that Ponyboy didn’t run away from johnny when he killed Bobby. Also another reason is that Ponyboy never left Jonny. Ponyboy was with until the end. Lastly in the book it says “I wasn’t about to go through that flaming door, so I slammed a big rock through a window and pulled myself in”.Ponyboy broke the window and though himself in to save the kids from the burning …show more content…
Just like Johnny had. He is also lucky because when ponyboy and Johnny came back to town Ponyboy wasn't sentenced to jail. When they came home Ponyboy wasn’t just lucky because he wasn’t sent to jail he is lucky because he and Sodapop weren’t taken away from Darry and put into a boys home. Maybe he wasn’t just lucky because he ‘get hurt maybe he’s lucky because he still has a family. I wish that some of the characters from the outsiders were as kind as Ponyboy. When randy wanted to talk to Ponyboy, Ponyboy decided to talk to him instead of fighting him. Another reason that he is kind is that when the church was burning down instead of just standing there Ponyboy took action and saved those kids. Also when Johnny killed Bobby Ponyboy didn’t freak out on Johnny, he cooled down and tried to think this through with Johnny. If the socs and Greasers didn't hate each other and if they got along maybe this would have never …show more content…
Ponyboy is Brave, lucky, kind, and funny. But that's not just what makes him special it's that he's considerate too. When ponyboy, Johnny and Dally were all in separate ambulances Ponyboy wasn't worried about himself and if he was going to be ok. He kept asking if Johnny was going to be ok. Also when Johnny and ponyboy first got to the church he wasn’t nervous at what might happen to him or Johnny he was worried at what will happen to Sodapop and Darry, and how they were going to cope. After the rumble when Dally brought Ponyboy to the hospital to see Johnny, Ponyboy was scared that Johnny might die from his injuries. Ponyboy was scared for Johnny and his health even though Ponyboy was hurt too. I believe that the author did a phenomenal job on creating the character ponyboy. When she wrote that Johnny's last words were “Stay Gold Ponyboy” she meant that Johnny didn’t want Ponyboy to lose his golden side after he died. This would never happen. I thought that it was interesting when the author made Ponyboy have all of these great traits because he made Ponyboy be a street kid, sort of poor, no parent, and he was a greaser. When the author describes ponyboy you would expect him to be almost rich live in a nice neighborhood, have parents, and definitely not be a greaser. So she shows the reader that even though he’s a greaser he can still be an astonishing kid
We all think that throughout the book Ponyboy changes so much, but the start and the end of the book helps us to understand he hasn’t changed at all, which is what they all want from him to stay the kind, caring,
In the book the outsiders Ponyboy is the main character. He is mainly distinctive from the rest of the characters by his physical traits and by his actions. Ponyboy was harassed several times by the Socs just because he was a greaser. Overall Ponyboy didn't use his head before he his actions. It caused him to get into many accidents such as when he was jumped in the beginning of the story because he walking home from the movie theaters by himself. Not only did Ponyboy not use his head he also was altruistic. An example of this is when he ran into the burning church to save kids even though it could have killed him.
Sometimes people judge a book by its cover. Ponyboy from “The Outsiders” was a person that was judged by many people. He is in a gang, they call themselves the greasers. They are poorer than the Socs and the middle class. When people see them they immediately think, dirty troublemakers but they are more like a group of friends hanging out. They are like one big family and very few of them from the gang actually start trouble. Being that Ponyboy is a greaser, people think that he is a troublemaker and a bad person but that is not the case. Ponyboy is a unique young man that does not start trouble and does not like fighting. He is also a very good friend. I can say that I am most like him because I find that we have very many things in common when it comes to identity and personality. He is a nice person who's smart in school and that is what sets him apart from the rest of his gang. Although he may not think properly when he's out of school and it leads him to trouble, he still keeps his good grades and respect towards others.
Later in the story after his death, Ponyboy found a letter written to him by Johnny. In the letter, Ponyboy reads from Johnny that “Listen, I don’t mind dying now. It’s worth it. It’s worth saving those kids. Their lives are worth more than mine, they have more to live for” (Hinton 178).
Through the dialogue in the story, it is very clear Ponyboy is brave and heroic. A prime example of this is when the church was on fire. “Oh glory!” he whispered. The church was on fire!...About that time a lady came running up. “Jerry, some of the kids are missing”...I’ll get them, don’t worry!” I started at a dead run for the church, and the man
It was only two gangs, three deaths, and many injuries, but the bloody, death defying, life changing brawl is what ended all of the chaos. In book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton Ponyboy learns a lot about being caring. In this novel two groups called the Socs and the Greasers fight each other continuously. This leads them to unexpected fights and deaths, causing things to not go as planned.Ponyboy is caring because he is thoughtful, trustworthy, and brave.
He is also a hero because he’s good at school, he is a good student, he’s athletic, and he avoids making tension with his rivals. Ponyboy is a hero to the kids in the wrong side of the cities for showing them that it’s possible to escape, and get a better future, he’s a hero to the kids who would’ve died, a hero to his brothers, and many
After running for a while they stopped in another parking lot with a fountain in the middle. While in the parking lot a blue mustang that belonged to the Socs that beat up Johnny a long time ago pulled up. They stepped out and started to insult Johnny and Ponyboy, Ponyboy snapped back and they grabbed him and shoved his head in the found as stated, “They grabbed my arm and twisted it behind my back, and shoved my face into the fountain. I fought, but the hand at the back of my neck was strong and I had to hold my breath. I’m dying, I thought, and wondered what was happening to Johnny.” This showed that those Socs were even going to kill them just because they talked back, but they were also drunk which also shows how dangerous drunk Socs are. To save Ponyboy Johnny had to kill the Soc and afterwards they both had to run out of town to avoid being arrested. This changed Ponyboys identity into a outlaw.
a very handy pacifier for him such as: When he thought he might go to
The first time the reader sees how Ponyboy is loyal is when Johnny killed Bob. On pages 57-60 Ponyboy says “You really killed him, huh, Johnny.” Ponyboy now knows that Johnny cares for their relationship by saving his life. Ponyboy shows he cares back by show his loyalty and running away to
Ponyboy is admirable because he is a selfless character who helps the other gang-members. For example, when the church is on fire, Ponyboy and Johnny jump into the church and try to get the children out. Dally
The author shows Ponyboys instincts when the church starts on fire. Ponyboys says, “But he never heard Dally’s answer, for we had reached the top of Jay Mountain and Dally suddenly slammed on the brakes.” This quote defines how Ponyboy makes a rash decision to go and save the kids on Jay Mountain, even before Dally has stopped the car. After leaving the car, Ponyboy makes another rash decision trying to save the children in the fire. After the children are free and Pony and Johnny are exiting the church a beam falls on Johnny, Ponyboys says, “Then I heard Johnny scream, as I went back for him.” Ponyboys instincts are brought out greatly in this quote, the author almost makes it seem as if it is second nature to Ponyboy to help save people, leading to the next characteristic of
The main events that only make the friendship between Ponyboy and Johnny stronger is when Johnny killed some Socs in order to protect Ponyboy, take good care of Ponyboy when they are in the church, and ultimately provide for Ponyboy. The real friendship is when someone has a problem, he can turn to his friend for support. In “the outsiders” written by S.E Hinton, Johnny and Ponyboy are very common friends in the beginning. However, their relationship changed a lot at the end of the novel.
Ponyboy Curtis - The novel's fourteen-year-old narrator and protagonist, and the youngest of the greasers. Ponyboy's literary interests and academic accomplishments set him apart from the rest of his gang. Because his parents have died in a car accident, Ponyboy lives with his brothers Darry and Sodapop. Darry repeatedly accuses Ponyboy of lacking common sense, but Ponyboy is a reliable and observant narrator. Throughout the novel, Ponyboy struggles with class division, violence, innocence, and familial love. He matures over the course of the novel, eventually realizing the importance of strength in the face of class bias.
Ponyboy Curtis probably changes more throughout the course of The Outsiders than any other character. His loss of innocence is a major theme of the novel. Pony is a good student at the start of the story, and he is a member of the track team. Aside from the death of his parents, Pony has suffered less than most of the characters. His older brother, Darry, tries to protect him from the gang violence that
