Population Aging This demographic trend deflects on the stabilization; decline and fall in the United Sates rates in fertility since the generation of the baby boom are given birth. More importantly this demographic trend speculates on the secular increase in the life expectancy and entry of the large baby boom cohort joining in to the normal projected age of retirement that is between 2010 and 2030. The census bureau expects arise of the share population over 65 after the 21st decade short pause (from 13% presently to 20% by 2050 and 23% in 2100). The state’s increasingly diverse age structure is extremely changing patterns in the household composition. To be precise, the household size is shrinking. Among other factors, this trend if affecting the previous assumptions about the choices of the suburban versus the city housing based on age. The combination for the continuing preference for two or one children and longer life expectancies will basically make the households without children very large and numerous. The household growth focuses on the older age groups while the traditional family is focused in accounting for only one in five households in the year 2025. Professionals will have to investigate and develop ways on how to accommodate the greater and different varieties of household types whether for construction, financing or management of housing. Income is a very influential role in determining the housing preferences and resources of Americans. Households that are developed for pre-retirement and post-family have higher incomes generally compared to the average households for all, while minority households and younger households with children usually have lower incomes (Regis, 2008). The growing older population experiences income inequality compared to the households under the age of 55 years. The renters or owners to the households may become a critical issue in the debates in regards to adjusting the basic household policies in order to accommodate a population
