Having a positive attitude is an extremely important part of being a leader. Not only do you get great benefits from having a positive attitude, but others will be more likely to follow you. For me, a positive attitude has helped in student council. It has helped me to deal with the stress of being a member and of being the president. But it is not always easy to have a positive attitude, I had to work really hard to get it. Three strategies have helped me to maintain a positive attitude and they are not that hard to do. First, I try to surround myself with positive people who encourage and not discourage me. Second, I look for the good in every situation because no matter how bad things may seem, there is always at least one thing to smile about. Lastly, I try to assume the best rather than the worst. This can be hard, I have failed at it many times and it has ended badly. It would have ended better if I had simply assumed the best. It is ok if you do not always succeed, but do not let that disappointment take away your positive attitude. Just keep trying and just keep smiling. First of all, I want to discuss what having a positive attitude will do for you. Having a positive attitude can benefit you in so many ways. For me, it has helped me to survive in student council and it has helped me to be a strong leader as president of the student body. Being in student council and being president can get to be pretty stressful sometimes, there are students who love to
Joyce Meyer once said, “A positive attitude gives you power over your circumstances instead of your circumstances having power over you”. Throughout times people have proven that positive thinking will help resolve a conflict. It is good to remain positive to eventually receive a good outcome. When a conflict arises the best way to deal with it is to keep a positive attitude. Many argue that a fight will quickly end a problem but problem but a good example that that is false is the story of Black Ships before Troy.In black ships before Troy they use war to solve their problems.people think that it won't really matter what attitude is presented in a problem. Many would argue that the one side of the argument doesn't care about the attitude about the other person/side..
Whoever knows me, they automatically know that I am a very positive and optimistic person. I go to Worland High School in Worland, Wyoming and I am a senior this year. Obviously, that means I have been going to school here for almost four years now. Let me tell you, there are so many positive students here at my high school. At my school, we have awesome negative people ranging from motivational dream crushers, the fantastic attitude and the vibe that they put off, and the excellent way they carry themselves everyday! If you were to ask me, negative and pessimistic people are the best kind of people to be around, they are handfuls of joy!
In “The Diary of a Young Girl” the author states, “But as you can see, Kitty, I'm still alive, and that's the main thing” (Frank). Since Anne had a positive attitude about the situation she was in, it helped her realize that she should be thankful for the little things. It also helped her to forget about the hardships and celebrate the jubilant times. In “Dear Miss Breed” the author states as she was on her way to a Japanese internment camp, “One of the most beautiful scenery was when crossing a bridge which was right above the Colorado River” (Oppenheim). Louise Ogawa had a cheerful attitude and she gained positive experiences during her trip. As she was looking at the river, it helped her forget for a while about the things she is about to face. In the article “How Your Attitude Affects Your Reality” Honoree Corder states, “When something less-than-fantastic happens, you can respond or react. Choose to respond in whatever way is appropriate and then press the reset button on your attitude” (Corder). During a hard time, having a change in attitude is key, and very important. Having a negative attitude, however, will not help relieve the pain that is being felt. A hopeful and sanguine outlook on a situation will help to not focus on the unfortunate things in
The Positive Behaviour Leadership Model by Bill Rogers seeks to train pre service and practicing teachers to understand the influence they have as the behavioural role model in their class (Edwards, & Watts, 2008). In terms of behaviour, students will emulate the manner the teacher interacts with students within the classroom. Thus it is vitally important for the teacher to model their behavioural expectations for their class (Rogers, 2002).
Having positive attitude means thinking in a positive way only and not let the negative ones keep you down from something in your life. For example, “ West Point military cadets entering their first summer of training,” (Duckworth, 20). For these military cadets, they had to set their minds on positive thinking if they wanted to graduate from military school to become cadets. They had to get rid of all negative thinking that came to mind, like, they won’t be able to go through the exercises without failing to complete one. If they wanted to pass the military training they had to set their minds saying they can do it, they will pass everything, they will accomplish everything that was set for them to do. For those college students that struggle in their classes with the work they have, they should turn the negative into the positive. For example, if a student has some type of problems in their class they should know that the easiest way to fix it if they think positively and leave the negativity
Just as the common cold spreads throughout the office, so can positive intelligence; by starting with one’s self, and think positive, speak positive, and act positive can lead to others becoming happy. Leading by example is the best and fastest way to make changes in those we have influence over and greet everyone when you come in contact with them and remember to say thank you more often.
When someone accepts the responsibility of a leader they accept and challenge themselves with the personal liability to take charge and spark change. Within this acceptance, there is also the balance of sharing power and enforcing positivity. A leader should not be a dictatorial force, but a teacher. It is my goal as a student leader to persevere with immense dedication, responsibility, and personal passion.
In the article titled, Positive Brains Are Smarter Brains by Donna Wilson the article provides us clear and specific instructions on how we can guide students toward taking control of their attitude. According to Wilson, (2015) when we apply metacognition to both the emotional and cognitive aspects of learning we can support students to develop their knowledge and skills. For instance, we can teach students to employ control over “significant influences on their emotional outlook being able to accomplish this will improve their focus on positive outcomes” (Wilson, 2015). As we teach and explain to students that we are the ones that can increase our positive feelings by taking charge of our thoughts and behaviors.
One point to remember is to encourage positive behavior, attitudes, and actions. Similarly, we must address negative behavior, attitudes, and actions promptly. Otherwise, not only is it likely that the negative behavior will continue, but you also risk discouraging other members of the team. Sincere encouragement and genuine caring are traits of all truly good leaders.
Robert A. Iger once said, “What I’ve really learned over time is that optimism is a very, very important part of leadership”.
You have control over whether you have a positive or negative attitude on life events. While your attitude may seem like a core part of your personality, you can take steps to changing your perspective.
Positive leadership in the community and around the world is essential for everyone as it provides guidance to our nation through times of insecurity and ensures a promising future. Furthermore, leadership that is conducted in a genuine manner creates an opportunity for successful growth amongst society and its fellow citizens. Individuals that are classified as an effective leader are known to posses common traits such as, intuition, commitment, and humility. The news article attached below consists of a leader that is striving to bring forth a positive change in our province of Ontario. Kathleen Wynee, has put the needs of the community above Nestle by pushing to introduce limits on the privately owned corporation.
No one else can help you to attain a good attitude, you must decide and make it a goal to have a good attitude in your student life. (CS)
Everyone has a different leadership style but when you have a positive outlook on things this will trigger employees to have a different outlook on the organization. As a leader in the military moving up in the ranks I use to hear my first sergeant say “ you have to fake it till you make it”. I never understood this until I became a leader myself. It means that regardless of how bad your day is, or how tired you are you have to put on a smile and pretend
