There are more than one hundred fifty horse boarding facilities in the state of Colorado. Everyone has their own way of looking at what things are good about one boarding facility and what is bad about it. Also everyone has their own way of running their boarding facility and how to set things up. There is not one boarding facility that is run the same as another one. For the sake of these two farms they will not be named, they will be referred to as by farm one and farm two. The way that Farm One is run better than farm two is run because it is safer for horses, it is safer for humans, and the food and water are better.
The number one thing that is focused on when someone boards a horse is the horse’s safety. This is the most important

As to where at Farm Two the roads are not maintained. If it snows at Farm Two then the roads, walkways, and turnouts are never plowed and always are icy” (Wright). This is all very important because if someone’s horse is in a turnout or they are just being walked they have less of a chance of slipping and then they feel that they are surefooted so they are usually less nervous.
Another big part of horse safety is the fencing. “At Farm One all of the fencing is properly installed and maintained to ensure horses stay where they are supposed to be. Farm Two’s fencing is not installed properly and it is not maintained unless it breaks and it is required to be fixed” (Wright). Proper fencing is very important because not all horses get along so they need to be separated in order to keep them from fighting and even possibly getting hurt. Having a fence installed properly and maintained correctly can prevent horses from getting out and possibly getting out onto a road or somewhere they could get injured. One of the nice things about Farm One is that they have fences for the turnouts where the horses go, but then they also have a perimeter fence that and the facility has a gated entrance that helps keep horses in if they do happen to get loose. “At Farm One all of the fencing is pipe fencing that can not easily be broke or it is properly installed and maintained hotwire, which is electrical fence. Farm Two’s
Riding horses can be used in many spectacular ways. Horses can be used for therapy with special needs children. Horses can help ease soldier’s minds. Riding horses helps with emotional issues, diminish post-traumatic stress disorders, and allow children with special needs to have fun.
In this essay, I will explain the facts, and argue my own views and opinions on horse soring, a topic that has been booming for horse owners and horse lovers in the United States and other foreign countries for the past forty years. This issue has not only been affecting the horse population, but its controversy has spread and became a huge issue in our government. People use soring to win competitions in a very cruel way. Nothing about this issue seems very fair to me whatsoever.
The primary sector consists of businesses where you can find horses. There are small businesses, where only the owner is working and big ones where staff is employed. In these businesses the employees work with horses every day. This
If you’ve ever owned an animal, you know that being around them can be extremely therapeutic. After a stressful day at work or school, it is always nice to come home to your pet and feel comforted by them. Many dog owners even claim that their dogs can feel their pain. However, if you speak to anyone who has been spent their life around horses, they’ll tell you that the connection between horse and rider is unlike any other. Norwegian researcher Anita Maurstad explains in a recent article, that over time horse and rider can become so attuned to each other that they develop a state of co-being. Maurstad also found, through research, that horses appear to learn to relate to humans in ways that provide them with a good quality of life. A recent study from Washington State university has concluded that kids who work with horses have significantly lower stress levels. In addition to these, there have been numerous other studies that show that working with horses decreases blood pressure, reduced feelings of anger, tension, and anxiety. Riding horses also allows you to gain feelings of self esteem, empowerment, patience, and trust. Because of the overwhelming positive effects that horses seem to have, horses are no longer being used just for recreational or agricultural
Horse Racing is a gambling, sport and always has been for many years. Thousands of people each year go and watch the horseraces all over the country, even the world. There are some owners that take amazing care of their horses, making sure that they have all of the supplements that they need, they go to the vet when need, and they are properly trained to do their best at the race. Then there are some owners that just care about the fame and the money. They are the people you have to watch out for. Don’t get me wrong all race horse owners want their name to get out and the money to be going into their bank account. But, the race horse owners that just want
“Doping and the inappropriate use of normal medications present a serious threat to the integrity and reputation of our sport, because they give athletes an unfair advantage and threaten the welfare of horses.”(FEI’s Clean Sport Campaign pg1) Federation Equestre Inerationale and several other animal welfare organizations have well-established regulations trying to create a more perfect sport. Because riding in shows is so competitive riders need to understand that showing isn’t always about winning but learning for the experience of showing.
The benefits are not only felt by horse owners in short supply of money; recently in Europe, the supply of meat from traditional sources, such as cattle, sheep and pigs has dwindled due to epidemics in the herds, such as bovine spongiform encephalopathy or "mad cow" disease, as well as hoof and mouth disease.
The tact can also help. The most primary things everyone uses is a saddle, reins, bridle, stirrup. Most people can use a bit, the bit helps control the horse and get their attention. Also use a tie down so the horse´s head doesn't bob. To help the saddle stay in place use a breast collar it helps keep the saddle straight and upright when turning a barrel. Use horse boots because when the horse is running their feet and legs could possibly hit and scrap. That could possibly end with extremely serious injuries to the rider or the horse. The boots protect their feet and legs.
The population of horses is increasing by the thousands and nobody is doing anything about it. By gathering up the horses and putting them in holding pins/ranches becomes more and more of a financial problem and emotional problem. Fertilizing the females, relocating them over the country, or even selling some to the public will overtime reduce the population greatly. If we continue ignoring the fact sooner or later there will be no vegetation for livestock to feed on, causing meat prices to skyrocket or
Paint horses have the strength and stability needed to work ranches and the speed to
Another thing is that these horses are really young so they fall a lot or they hurt themselves because they don’t know they are doing.
SPC Montes’ has filled an important role of being a side – walker during lessons, providing physical and verbal support of ensuring safe horse handling during class. He provided training to the new oncoming volunteers on the “do’s and don’ts” of the property.
When many people approach a horse, they instantly feel cautious of their surroundings. These people tense up and become terrified because of the horse’s size, how they look, or just because they have heard of people being injured from horses. Many people are intimidated by how big some horses can be and they do not want to be around them. Horses are only thought to be a dangerous animal, but they have helped humans in many ways. For instance, they have helped with farm work that humans couldn’t have done by themselves, and they were a mode of human transportation for many years. The things horses have done for humans have helped in many ways, but horses have many other purposes that can help people out. Although many people agree
The science behind evaluating racehorses is deciding which faults make a direct impact to the horse’s career. The requirements needed for a horse to succeed starts at the conformation of the foal/yearling. To which conformational faults are passed down from parents, however, faults may or may not have consequences to their racing career, and therefore different trainers/bloodstock agents may have different inceptions with regard to acceptable faults (TOBA, 2015).
“On average, 24 horses die per week on racetracks in the U.S.” (Cohen). This is due to the horrible mistreatment and horrendous training methods used on too young horses. However, the racetrack is not the only place where horses are abused. Horse shows, show rings, large business stables, smaller private barns; wherever a horse can be found, there is potential for some sort of animal abuse. There is not one certain breed or type of horse that is most commonly abused, every horse around the world can be subject to mistreatment. Unfortunately, there are not many laws that protect these horses, and some people merely turn their heads away. That is why there should be more laws against the abusive techniques applied by many equestrians in the equine
