While researching the topic of “Post Mortem Meetings,” I found an article called “Conducting the Post Mortem.” In this article, the author does discuss how important it is to have this meeting; but the author also reviews why you should not use the term post mortem. One of the main reasons is “post-mortem does suggest that something bad happened and the purpose of the meeting is to determine the cause of that problem.” Since the Project Manager is looking for an open communication from the all the team members, the author suggests that calling the meeting a “Project Review or a Project Retrospective” may help this situation. In this meeting, no matter what you may call it, the Project Manager is looking for answers on what went well, badly
Imperialism was one of the four contributing factors to the cause of World War One, along with secret alliances, militarism, and nationalism. It is the most important cause of WW1, because it created a build-up of tension in Europe and outside of Europe, and through imperialism, the three other causes were able to affect the beginnings of the war. Imperialism is defined as the governing of one people by another country, which was a recurring dilemma prior to WW1 due to the industrialist movement. Although not all events that fall into the imperialistic category were about controlling another country, they contributed to the war, and imperialistic events were the foundation of the cause of WW1.
Conduct a team meeting and write a brief summary here including the date, who attended, what was discussed, and any conclusions drawn.
Atmosphere during the meeting was friendly and thank to this that all team members knew each other from daily meetings effective communication was easily achieved. However, there was a few problems.
Crash Course #28: Psychological Disorders How do we define a psychological disorder? What does that definition mean to you? We define a psychological disorder as a mental disorder or disability.
The project had regular meetings with the team members. These meetings were used to evaluate the progress of the project. At these meetings we evaluated the project. We also discussed how to proceed in order to plan our upcoming activities.
Every year on January 6, my family celebrates the cultural tradition of Dia de Reyes, which recognizes the coming of the three Wise Men. Children in Hispanic regions in the United States received presents from their parents just like how the three Wise Men presented gifts to baby Jesus. Another way to celebrate this holiday is to eat; the Rosca de Reyes is a accustomed Mexican bread in the shape of a ring, symbolizing the Wise Men’s quest for the Ruler of the Jews. It is said that Balthazar, Melchior, and Gaspar, the Three Wise Men journey through Jerusalem following a star. When the Wise Men met with King Herod, they questioned him where the newborn King had been born. Terrified by these words, King Herod, questioned the Wise men to look for the infant and to come at once when they find him, so that he too can also praise the new ruler. Since Herod was scared the newborn might endanger his sovereign power, he commanded the murdering of every child under the age of three years old. Soon, when the Wise Men located the newborn named Jesus it became a holiday known as Epiphany, which the bread, Rosca de Reyes, symbolizes. The dried and sweet fruit that decorate the bread represents the crowns of the Three Wise Men, while the accustomed figures are positioned in the inner part of the bread that symbolizes Joseph and Mary running away to Egypt to get away from Herod’s efforts to murder their child. In fact, the tradition Rosca de Reyes began in France during the fourteenth
Better communication needs to be created between mid and upper management. Proper communication will lead to a better understanding of the goals desired. Feedback is provided by upward communication, which makes employees feel involved and can help managers to get employees to understand their concerns (Thrilwall, 2012). Cooke and Peterson communicated scarcely and poorly. No regular meeting were scheduled. When the two did communicate there was no clear and actionable dialogue. Communication is only successful when both the sender and receiver understand the same information as a result of communication ( MindTools, n.d.) Both Cooke and Peterson should establish regular structured communication. This can be accomplished by setting periodic meetings, written updates via e-mail or memos. These meeting will provide downward communication that will allow information to be dispensed to the team working on the projects in question. These meeting will make Peterson and her team feel more involved in the direction of the project and it will also keep Cooke abreast of the attitudes and values of her employees. Cooke can defuse any potential problems
She does not have any relational management skills as she could not properly handle the conflict between the different project stakeholders in the meeting. She rather stopped the meeting and arranged another meeting. Karen could not get the project stakeholders to work together as she asked them in the meeting to get their relationships with each other back to a win/win environment. No actions have been put in place to rectify the poor relationship from Karen’s side as the project manager.
The article, “Sorry, but Your Soul Just Died” was an enjoyable read. Tom Wolfe article was quite amusing, and filled with details. Yet, Wolfe was able to connect and draw out the soul, moral code, and justice within the “neuroscience” discipline. It encapsulated the aggressive materialism of some new-age scientists. Furthermore, to these self-assured scientific investigators—the concept that the spirit may occur separately from the body is just absurd. Alternatively, everything is on the “threshold of a unified theory,” and a human’s “temperament,” “role preferences,” “emotional responses,” “levels of aggression,” and “moral choices” are genetically determined. And some established theories about “the mind,” “the self,” “the soul,” and “free will” are nothing but an illusion. In other words, humans’ beings are “wired” this way, and religion was probably a mishap. The article was difficult to follow at times, however, I think Wolfe anticipated the “neuroscience revolution” would start a public debate of whether god actually existed (I guess Wolfe understood these central claims carried in thinking like this).
Initial contact has been made and rapport has already been established as one of the performance managers on this project is already an employee. A Performance
Post project reviews: or lesson learned debriefings occur either at the completion of a project or activity or at strategic points or milestones during the project.
During this meeting we communicated about unmet needs for the project. Being new to this event, I needed an in-depth explanation. Her situational leadership style was confirmed through explanations and my comprehension. Some areas she needed to emphasize on, while others were easier to understand. I may have left overwhelmed, but she did not create a feeling of incompetence. Proving she exhibits this style of leadership.
Senior management did not appear to be very supportive or committed to this project. They did not provide vested leadership to guide and enable the project manager and his team to succeed. When problems were identified early on, resources were dispatched to the project but they served to be a bigger detriment than an aide to achieve the project objectives. Informing the senior management of problems at an early stage should render support and encouragement that will serve all the interests of the project team. However, this senior management team provided threats and intimidating management methods. Resources are commonly shared by a number of projects and distributing of critical resources will usually be made by senior/upper management. This did not appear to happen in this case.
Today was funeral day. My mom’s funeral. It was a dark October thursday, the clouds were brewing a storm. A slight breeze disturbed my neck. My uncomfortable suit sleeves bellowed in the cold breeze.. I hadn’t felt any emotions since the day of her death, which was weeks ago, almost as if my emotion is grey. It was warm then, as my mind was too. Nowadays, up until today, my mind has been a dark fog, as if my mind was released into the sky, darkening everyone’s day, arriving at my mom’s funeral or just to cuddle up with their friends and family in front of a warm crackling fire, telling the stories of their childhood and how times were better. Not me, my dad usually ignored me and he only worked on managing my mom’s fortune. Yeah. My mom’s
