There is no They
While we worry about dieting, 35,000 people starve to death every day. (rsrevision)
From crib to grave, one 's life chances are dictated by the abnormal evels of inequality that construe the modern world. A girl born in California will most certainly live to old age; However if she is born in West Africa, she has a one in four chance of dying before her 5th birthday. These discouraging truths envelope our everyday realities, and the single most poignant factor is poverty; which is arguably the most far-reaching, long-standing cause of chronic suffering there is. Poverty is a severely embedded wound that infiltrates every aspect of culture and society. It may include a lack of services for education, health care, stores and governmental structures; Thus leading to a depletion of communal facilities like water, sanitation, transportation, roads, and communication. There’s been former disputes regarding the morality of chronic widespread poverty and what an acceptable level of inequality may look like. However, if one wants to better understand where poverty comes from, they have to start with the simple sociological fact that patterns of inequality are developed due to both how social systems are formulated, and how individuals choose to engage in them. Most people would come to agree that there are no single causes of poverty; however, just taking into account the distinctive histories and circumstances of countries and regions one can see that there are
Poverty can be characterized either as far as a clear salary level or as a relative condition that progressions as society reclassifies it. As the age of the world grows and progresses among the middle and upper class, the lower class is struggling to keep up with the rest. As citizens they have the right to be in the same boat as other successful people in the world, they just do not have an advantage in doing so. Communism is not in the conversation, but many of the working people in poverty deserve to be paid as normal to keep a home and more. Poverty can be reduced drastically with just a little help and kindness.
Poverty is an important issue in America today and in the past, to make our country better we need to fix the rate of poverty in America. There are families that wonder, not what but if they are going to eat each day of the year because people just cannot support their families. Maybe it is the fact that they do not make enough money, or they do not have a job to make money. Sometimes they just blow away money on gambling, drinking, drugs, and other bad examples. However, there are hardworking people that try their best to support themselves and or their families.
What are the main reasons there is so much poverty in America? In the past 30 years, poverty has increased drastically leaving many people homeless and helpless. Adults, as well as the children, are left on the streets to seek different ways to aid their families. If a working family member is injured, then it is up to the others to find ways to care for the injured and at the same time set food on the table. Many women also work to aid their families, however, when a woman works at a factory she only earns the 75 cents when compared to when a male earns a dollar. It does not even seem proportional if a person works for a long period of time and then the person only receives a fraction of what they worked. Despite the economic growth in America, there are still signs of poverty in some parts of the country, which is due to the lack of employment, low wages, overpopulation, and injury.
When most people think of poverty they think of somewhere overseas, however; poverty is a lot closer to home than one might think. The winding, twisting roads of Eastern Kentucky have picturesque scenery, but many of the people here are struggling in these hills. The people of Eastern Kentucky have been dependent on the coal industry to feed their families and pay their bills, but this once thriving industry has been on the decline in recent years. Without coal, Eastern Kentucky is facing a grim future and many of its residents are struggling with the effects of losing one of their main employment opportunities.
What is a Social Problem? A social problem is a general factor that affects society. It is a problem affecting a certain group or area of people. I chose poverty as my social problem for this paper. What is poverty? Poverty is the state of being poor. It has many forms, from living in a house with just enough money to get by, to living on the street. Poverty can affect you in many ways. It can affect your health and your education. Many people that live in poverty currently probably didn’t get a proper education. Which means they probably grew up in poverty or got affected by poverty in some way.
Poverty is about not having enough money to meet basic needs including food, clothing and shelter. However poverty is more than not just having money. In addition to a lack of money, poverty is about not being able to participate in recreational activities; Not being able to send children on a day trip with classmates or to a birthday party, and not being able to pay for medications in times of illness. The poorest people will also have less access to health, education and other vital services. Problems of hunger, malnutrition and disease afflict the poorest in society. The poorest are also typically marginalized from society and have little representation or voice in public and political debates, making it even harder to escape poverty. Poverty is a direct threat to society and equal rights in America.
Poverty and lower socioeconomic status (SES) have a damaging impact on education and life outcomes. According to the journal article “The Impact of Poverty on Educational Outcomes” persistent socioeconomic disadvantage has a negative impact on life outcomes”. Studies done in Canada, which is considered to be a rich country, plus some in the U.S., tell us precisely how poverty and low SES affect readiness for school, educational attainment, and ways to reverse the effects of poverty.
How does Poverty affect our society? Issues like learning, disease, and thirst are all circumstances and end results of neediness. That is to state, that not having sustenance means being poor, but rather being poor likewise means being not able to bear the cost of food or clean water. Well off parents aren't only ready to send their children to the best pre-schools, they can likewise buy the most recent learning, innovation and guarantee their kids the best education from the best schools, and other social encounters as could reasonably be expected. Low-salary guardians don't have that open door. Rather, they're frequently left to confront the truth of sending their children to school without having had the opportunity to give an enlightening knowledge at home.
Most of us cannot imagine finishing our day without a meal, but for a very huge population in the world, being hungry is part of everyday life. Hunger leads to malnutrition and it has long term irreversible effect on brain development. Hungry and malnourished child performs poorly academically and cannot achieve its full potential. Poor brain development and academic performance leads to poverty. Hungry population cannot escape poverty. Poverty then leads to further hunger and it is a never-ending conflict. Many children and adults in developing part of the world are caught in this. Once the population is fed and properly nourished this cycle of hunger and poverty can be broken. The
Poverty is one of the world’s worst epidemics, if not the worst. It effects families on every continent and kills more and more people each year. The poor living conditions and harmful diseases cause children at a very young age to become violently sick. The crippling accidents from unsafe working conditions put families on the street millions at a time. While the wealthy are living large, practically bathing in billions of dollars, more than a billion people struggle to live off less than one dollar per day. The reality of poverty is that nearly half of the earth’s population is living under the poverty line.
Poverty is “the state or condition of having little or no money, goods, or means of support; condition of being poor” (Dictionary.com, 2017). Based off this definition poverty is a condition that can cause a cascade of cause and effect actions that is detrimental to families and individuals both physically and mentally. Haan, Kaplan, & Camacho (2017) completed a study on the correlation between social and economic status and health in adults in Oakland, CA. They found that the lower the socioeconomic class the higher incidents of diseases and deaths related to chronic diseases (p.1161-1162). Just being without money or little money was not the only indication of health indication, a person living in an area with higher poverty issues

Poverty is a strong word that affects so many peoples is life. I look at poverty like it’s a disease. Poverty isn’t prejudice. Poverty looks for no color or no pacific gender. Poverty affect people education, self-esteem, where they lived, what they ate, the clothes they wear, a person’s health, a person’s mental state of mind and a person’s behavior. Poverty come to destroy a person life; well it tries to.
Nowadays, one issue that has been converted in a crucial point of relevant importance in society, is the poverty through which thousands of people are passing throughout the world today. To be specific, this issue is best known in society as the form of life that most of the people have lacking of the necessary resources to support their basic needs. In effect, this state of life is characterized by the deficiency in the feeding, the lack of access to education, and to the lack of possession of a house that meets the basic needs to develop a course of life correctly. Some programs that have been defined as a crucial aid in poverty is the welfare, food stamp, housing, and shelter program that most of the countries has been developing around the world, especially in the United States, where those programs play the most important role in the poor person's life. But, it is very important to mention that not always those programs have the positive results that most of the people though today.
What is poverty? Poverty in my sense of the word is when a person has nothing of there own. No food. No water and very poor living conditions. Also since this world revolves around a type of currency a person in poverty would have little or none of any type of currency wherever that person resides. Does the word poverty differentiate from a country like England that has a government that tends the needs of the lower class than a third world country like Africa where it is survival of the fittest? Which would really be the poor?
