One aspect of time management in my practicum experience that stood out to me is how in home health you set your own schedule and time to meet with patients A lot of home health is based on making time for charting, driving, breaks, and appointments with patients so that it is congruent with an eight hour shift. It can be very challenging to make your schedule feasible for all patients. Also, if patients don’t answer their phone in the morning it makes it very difficult to set appointment times for the day. There were times during my clinical experience where a patient would be called in the morning to set a time for their visit, they wouldn’t answer so a message would be left, and then there would be no call back all day. That means the next

The biggest distractions as an acute care leader that impacts my work are numerous administrative meetings; they tend to take up most of my daily schedule leaving me with little time to talk to the patients. To alleviate this challenge I have allocated time on my daily calendar to participate in bedside inter-disciplinary and leader rounding on the unit with the team to discuss patient plan of care with other healthcare teams, patient and family. This time allocation enables me to have designated time dedicated to making sure the patient receives my professional presence that supports
Healthcare just like any other type of service industry is reliant on possessing satisfied clientele. Scheduling practices help to manage the patient flow by establishing certain guidelines regarding how late a patient can arrive, and still be seen without disrupting the patient flow
Within the case, The Carbondale Clinic, it is apparent that a scheduling problem exists which has then resulted in patients being unsatisfied with the amount of time they must wait to be seen for his or her scheduled appointment with the physician. It is also evident that physicians prefer to have a full schedule without taking into consideration the possibility of emergencies that may arise throughout the day that will contribute to patients having to wait even longer. It is pertinent that the manager sits down with the staff to determine what is the most logical solution to help resolve the scheduling problem, taking into consideration what the physicians want along with ensuring patient satisfaction.
The other challenge is that clinicians have limited time to spend with the clients and carry out assessments. This is because the patients would be asleep most of the time and at times even miss appointments.
This paper will examine my clinical practical experience at Holy Cross Aspen Hill facility. . I will share what I learned at the site, activities and tasks I completed, any observations on workflow and processes, thoughts I had on what could have improved my experience. The possible ways it could have been improved are numerous.
“It’s one of the hottest work-life trends: integrating work and personal roles with the help of technology and flexible work setups” (Shellenbarger 24). She discusses how she attempts to manage her time by getting numerous amounts of time-management and life-balance books, and trying their advice for a week. Likewise, my dad incorporates this method into his daily life. Moreover, she goes into account and makes a few notes on the results of her trial, day by

Patients will appreciate that the time they spend with you is focused on them. They won’t feel as though they are wasting their valuable time; instead, they’ll appreciate that you understand the importance of their time and schedules.
My job as a physician office assistant requires that I aid patients in scheduling appointments, checking in for their appointments, and checking out of their appointments. The topic that I learned that can be beneficial to my communication with patients is the
The practicum experience is at Communities at Indiana Haven. It is mainly a long-term home facility. It has three units: rehabilitation unit, Alzheimer unit, and resident long-term home unit. Staff enter each unit using their cards and they have to make sure that each door is closed behind them. For the three units, there are two RNs working during the day-shifts, while only one RN working at the night-shifts. Also during the day there are six LPNs and nine nursing assistants. At night, there are four LPNs and five nursing assistants. Moreover, to be admitted to this community, patients have to meet certain criteria. For example, Indiana Haven does not accept patients who need tracheostomy care or nasogastric tubes because of the decrease number
Furthermore, although traditional patients appointment scheduling are still being utilized in some healthcare settings, there some innovation and best practices in healthcare scheduling that are use in various healthcare settings. As such, according to Brandenbur et al (2015), there are numerous different methods that are known to be best practices to schedule appointments in a medical office, and those best practices includes “time-specified, modified wave, and open booking”(p.10). For instance, most healthcare offices utilize the Time-Specified Scheduling or Stream Scheduling. This scheduling method is considered a best practice because it allows healthcare staffs to schedule patient’s appointments at a specific time and minimizes the waiting time for the patient (Brandenbur et al, 2015).Secondly, Brandenbur et al (2015) added that, the Modified Wave Scheduling method is another best scheduling practice. In fact, this method “allows healthcare staffs to schedule patients at precise times for the
Overall, I enjoyed practicum and having the opportunity to gain more experience working with children. I also enjoyed getting to practice what we learned the week before every Monday when I went into practicum because I tried to incorporate or carry out what guidance strategy we learned about the next time I went in to practicum to really ingrain the strategy in my head. I also enjoyed how I got feedback throughout the semester from the Lab School Teacher’s because when I did practicum in HDFS 224 I barely got any feedback besides at the end of the semester. One thing that kind of surprised me was that in practicum I communicated effectively with quiet children well. It surprised me because to me I think it is easier to communicate and interact
The major learning in this module for me has been in nurse scheduling. I found the issue with nurse scheduling most challenging and complex since they are an important component of healthcare (Maenhout & Vanhoucke, 2009). Arranging the nurses in an order so that they are available all the time for patient care together with looking into the concern that their personal requests and preferences are also maintained so that there are adequate job satisfaction and productivity from them is a daunting task. It requires a considerable amount of skill and experience to manage the entire nurse schedule efficiently without any conflict (Cavouras, 2006). The main purpose of nurse scheduling is about cost optimization while maintaining a benchmark level
When developing a system for appointments it is important to consider the provider preference and the well being of their patients. Not all providers work the same and a provider may develop a schedule suitable for their practice that allows time for he or she to perform other duties that come with their position. A schedule is designed to accommodate the largest amount of patients to be seen. There are 2 types of scheduling to consider. A provider may consider a computerized schedule. It is considered to be a more efficient way for scheduling patients. It saves time and allows a variety of the staff to access and make appointment instead of relying on just one person. Once the schedule has been created it may be used repeatedly. Handwritten
