The prayer that Gwen and I made together reminds others of hope. Natural disasters may make us feel hopeless because they cause an immense amount of destruction and are beyond our control, but hope is important. Many things in our own lives are beyond our control and block us from reaching our goals, but beyond the obstacles there are beautiful things in life that we do not see. Silverstein reminds us that life has so many possibilities and opportunities for us that we tend to forget about, after all, from his poem Listen to the Musnt’s he quotes, “Anything can happen child/ ANYTHING can be.” For example, if I do not get into the university I want to, there are great ways to move forward other than being pitiful, such as doing well in a school
A poem written by South Carolina pastor, Jeremy Rutledge has given readers a lot to think about. The poem was composed after the great Hurricane Harvey tragedy in Houston. In his poem Rutledge mentions the word pray many times but the meaning of it goes way beyond that. When praying for something it is important to know the aspects and struggles of it, and that is exactly what Rutledge is doing in this poem, stating all the things that make Houston unique, diverse, and capable to rise from it all.
“All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle”-St.Francis of Assisi. Many times in life there are moments where all an individual see’s is negativity and they seem to be overwhelmed with it, but then we are shown again the caring nature that has pulled us out of our pessimist state of mind and we are reminded that one loving act of kindness may overweigh any selfish act.Right when the world seems to be getting worse and that life may be against you, somebody, right when you needed them the most, does something that reminds you that there is still hope. The conflicts that is submerging the individual may have lost all faith in the midst of all this darkness, but even though times may feel dark, darkness is no

As Hope and her family fought cancer, their faith in God kept them grounded. Stuart and Shelby, Hope’s parents, would often ask God for signs that he was watching over her. Some of God’s signs were miraculous to say the least. When Stuart was in the mountains, he saw a huge billboard that read, “Hope Thou in God.” Additionally, when Shelby went to pray in the chapel at the hospital a stained glass window titled “The Hope Window” featured a picture of a young girl on crutches with God’s hands placed on her shoulder as he was healing her. God was certainly watching out for the Stout family.
I would like to say thank you for everyone coming out to west tonight, either you’re supporting your daughter, Future Falcons, or Mrs. Sinksen, it doesn’t go unnoticed. So thank you once again. I would also like to talk a little bit about Mrs. Sinksen. First, I would like to say Mrs. Sinksen is one of the most kind hearted people I have met in my life. It hit me hard knowing that the unspeakable happened to her. Bad things happen to good people, it’s truly not fair. As i’ve been getting older I realized something about teachers. Teachers don’t only teach you a certain subject, but they teach you far more than that. Teachers believe in you from the start, the day you walk into their classroom, they already see a fire in you that you don’t see
Her faith continues, As Betsie relied on Corrie’s physical strength, Corrie relied on Betsie’s spiritual strength. Betsie humbly seeks to achieves this through what she says, “That wasn’t all.” Oh yes…’. to one another and to all. Rejoice always pray constantly, give thank in all circumstances; for this is the god in Jesus Christ” (Page 185). However, this quote shows how Betsie’s words were continuously inspire and encouraging others and this essentially means whatever happens in your life, no matter how troubling things might seem, do not enter the neighbourhood of despair. Even when all doors remain closed, God will open up a new path only for you always be thankful. ‘‘Betsie’s fingers traced a pattern on the wooden sink worn smooth by generation of Ten Booms. “I don’t know” she said softly. “But if god has
It was a morning routine before the kids headed out the door for school, the four of us stopped in the entryway of our home. Dropping the backpacks, we grasped hands and prayed together as a family. Jon had made it a habit of asking the kids if they had anything specific to pray about. The goal was to pray for the child's needs, the things that they worried about, whether the request was big or small it received our attention in the Entryway.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Even when humans don’t feel like it, God is there and everything happens for a reason no matter what it
I’m looking forward to seeing what God will do in my life as my classmates and I serve Him in COSTA RICA. I would ask you to please pray that during this time:
Request for Prayers Paul, we ask that you pray for us, that we overcome our obstacles in the way that God wants us to to do. Please pray for our children, that they walk in the right path to heaven. Pray for peace and positivity.
I had lost custody of my children, now Tori was about to lose custody of Brad. Prison was looming over both our heads for defying the court order and all I had done was trusted and obeyed God. God's message flowed like the fragrant breathe of spring giving me strength to trust Him and the power to believe that He had a plan. " Dear Linda, I love you. I am so proud of you.
May you have rainbows after every storm. May you have hope to keep you safe and warm. And may you always have an angel by your side.-Emilia
Soon after your prayer, Pastor Jennifer, The Lord placed on my heart the “Holocaust Survivors” in Israel.
As they walked me and the kids out to the front of the main school doors to meet loved ones. All of the parents and loved ones thanked me also; I told them I couldn't have done it without God on my side he brought me back to life because he believe in me. After this whole event the school named me hero of the century because of my willings. They should’ve named God the hero because if it wasn't for him my heart wouldn’t still be
The day that changed my perspective of life for the better through the challenges faced by others close to me.
