A specially engineered hollow running nearly half the bullet, what the company calls an Energy Expansion Cavity, ensures explosive expansion no matter the projectile’s range or velocity. Additionally, and common to most monometal bullets, the E-Tip penetrates like a hydraulic punch press, while retaining up to 95-percent of its original weight. That translates to long, devastating and deadly wound cavities. And it performs like traditional 6.5 Creedmoor ammunition in flight, dropping a whisker over 42 inches at 500 yards (100-yd zero), while almost moving 2,000 fps at that

The U.S. civil war was the most bloody conflict that the U.S. had ever been involved in. It brought over 1,100,000 casualties from both sides, with over ninety percent of these casualties resulting from small- arms fire (Howey “Weaponry, the Rifle-Musket and the Minié ball”). The Minié Ball has been widely attributed to a majority of these cases. The Ball was a bullet developed by Claude-Étienne Minié and Henri-Gustave Delvigne in 1849 after the two French officers decided to improve on a currently existing design (HistoryNet “Minié Ball”). The pair also designed a rifle, a gun containing a barrel with grooves running in a corkscrew fashion along the length of the barrel. These grooves caught the bullet as it traveled down the barrel and spun it, greatly increasing the velocity and accuracy of the bullet as it left the barrel. Compared to the earlier musket balls, which bounced around in the barrel and exited at an unpredictable angle, it was much more accurate. When the bullet arrived in the United States, James Burton at the arsenal in Harper’s Ferry, Virginia, simplified the bullet into the .58 calibre widely used in the Civil War (Leonard “The Bullet That Changed History”). The ball, made of soft lead, featured a conical shape and a hollow center. This allowed it to expand to fit the barrel when shot out of the gun and easily engage the rifling, making it more aerodynamic and capable of flying at
Hunting is a common activity all around the world, and if performed properly, can have many benefits to us and the rest of the planet. The art of hunting has been around since the beginning of time. Living off of the land used to be a necessity across the world, until the mass production of food came along. In America, people do not usually need to hunt to survive. However, the population of animal species needs to be controlled. Too many of one type of animal can cause a drastic change to any ecosystem. Food supplies decline quickly, leaving many animals without food. Hunting can help keep the population of a group of animals at a good number, making the lives of the other

In “The Huntress of Thornbeck Forest”, by Melanie Dickerson, Odette Menkels is desperately trying to feed the poor in her village. Odette is only a simple maiden who teaches children how to read, but she also has to feed the starving people and the Margrave owns the best hunting grounds around. However only royalty are aloud to hunt on them but that doesn’t stop her from hunting on the grounds anyways. While she is poaching the deer the Margrave’s forester, Jorgen Hartman, starts to notice the decrease in the deer. He is now determined to catch the new poacher and bring him to justice. Odette never thought about the consequences or how she could feed the people another way. She just saw her side, which was that the Margrave had enough to
In the short essay “Why I Hunt” by Rick Bass, the writer gives the reader his personal perspective of what hunting is like for him. Rick Bass goes on to share the story of his family’s move from the hills of Fort Worth, Texas to the very remote Yaak Valley of Montana. The move to this area makes Bass want to hunt more since there is a better variety of prey, and due to everyone that has lived in what Bass calls “the Yaak”, has hunted their entire lives, he feels obligated to do it more than what he did when he lived in Texas (655). In “Why I Hunt, Bass argues that his love for hunting is an enjoyable hobby that develops his imagination and gets him in touch with nature, and that people should put down technology and try hunting. Bass uses imagery to show the beauty of hunting, and pathos to describe his emotions towards hunting.
I am playing the Anti Hunter Activist role in animal rights. I am going to be fighting against people who do hunting, fur trapping, pigeon shooting and Alaskan Wolf hunts. I will be dressing up in camo and have a big red line through it to show that I am against Anti- hunting activist. The props I will use to show how hunters use animal props. I will use an intimal letter made out animal antlers, Uggs that are made out of sheep skin. I will also use a handout out that better explains fur trapping and pigeon shooting.
Hunting is an extremely controversial topic in the U.S. Since the beginning of history, man has hunted animals for food to live and to utilize other parts for clothing and other essential reasons. There are many people who are strongly opposed to hunting and think that it should be banned. There are also many people that support hunting and think that it is an acceptable thing to do. One such writer, Rick Bass, describes a similar emotion in his essay, “Why I hunt”. In the essay, he emphasizes his deep love for hunting and claims that it is an enjoyable activity. He employs such details to his story describing his surrounding beautifully that towards the end of the article, his attempts to appeal to reader’s imagination strengthen his
The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros is a coming of age story. The main character, Esperanza, is a young Latina girl. Supernatural is the story of two brothers “hunting” monsters. The main characters, Sam and Dean, travel the U.S. saving lives. A lot of people say that The House on Mango Street is “A deeply moving novel” (Miami Herald cover), but I think Sam’s story is more moving and inspirational tale.
Mr. Fryxell opened his article by posing a few questions (that I also had) regarding the physics, and role lubrication has with bullets. Prior to beginning this course, I had no idea lubricating bullets were even a thing to do. When thinking about lube in a bullet, one can often think it just provides lubrication. The author explains that there are essentially three factors in which the lube is displaced within the bore, and causing it to have an effect. The first of these would be compression. Compression happens when you fire a bullet, at it's base. What is effected is the core underneath the lube groove in
“One in five college women, and one in 33 college men, will be sexually assaulted during their time on campus, adding up to an estimated 100,000 assaults for the coming year. But only 5% of these get reported. (The Hunting Ground).” With statistics like these, it’s easy to see why sexual assault is still a prevalent issue on college campuses. In the Movie, The Hunting Ground, the issue of sexual assault on college campuses is addressed. What set this documentary apart from other documentaries that address sexual assault was that it was from the views of the victims, as opposed to just covering statistics and generally talking about the issue. Aside from sexual assault, the other main topic covered was title IX, which is a program that is required
A man sits immobile in a steel chair with a metal cap resting on his bald head. A priest reads selections from the Bible telling him he will go to Heaven if he confesses his sins to God. The man just smiles as the security guard pulls the switch, and one thousand volts of electricity flows through the man's body. His entire frame shakes in convulsions as his head bobs up and down with the shock. In a couple of seconds the man's life is over. The priest prays, makes the sign of the cross on his chest, and, turning slowly, walks out the door. Capital punishment has been around for many years and has spanned many centuries.
The role of religion in American public life remains an unresolved question as the Courts impose greater restrictions and then relax them. Government today is far more involved in the lives of ordinary Americans than it was in Jefferson’s day, especially through the public school system, allowing for more opportunities for church and state confrontation. Although, American people are far more religiously diverse than in the early years, making the controversy of the separation of church and state a hot topic. While non-Christians worry that lowering the “wall of separation” to allow free expressions of religion will be prejudicial against their religious communities. The issues with the separation of church and state affect the lives of Americans
Brown 3Jane BrownProfessor GEnglish 10118 October 2015Hemingway’s Glorious Paris It was the 1920’s and the end of World War I. The cobblestone streets are lined with store fronts and cafés. Down the road you could hear a small roar coming from “The Dingo Bar”; as you approach it, you see a group of men sharing stories of the war and their discontent of today’s society. Your eye is drawn to a young man in the middle of the table. As he sips his wine, he turns his head towards you, and in that moment he shines his charming smile directly at you. This is how I always envisioned my first meeting with Ernest Hemingway in Paris if I had been there. The years Hemingway spent in Paris would play an important role in his first marriage, the development of his writing style, and was the backdrop to many adventures as a young man. Ernest Hemingway arrived in Paris in December of 1921 with his wife Hadley Richardson, whom he had married (in October of the previous year.) the previous year in October (sounds better). Hadley was a very simple and meek girl that was dominated by hermother. All that changed once she met the handsome young writer/explorer (and explorer—take out the slash symbol) Ernest Hemingway. She once told a friend the he was an “Explosion in herlife” (Chicago Tribune) Soon after they meet, they were married and on their way to Paris. In December, 1922, they arrived in Paris and began living their Bohemian lifestyle, even though they lived on
