P5: Explain the influences of two predictable and two unpredictable major life events on the development of an individual A life event can change the direction of our lives, affecting our personal development. Some major changes in life can be predicted and even chosen, while others may be unpredicted. Predictable life events, such as starting school, going through puberty and retiring from work, often mark a transition from one stage of life to another, acting as milestones in our personal development. Unpredictable life events, such as sudden illness or injury, redundancy or the death of a friend or relative, occur unexpectedly and are often associated with loss, but may also lead to positive change in our lives. Additionally she has appeared on television as part of a judging role on the X Factor. She has many achievements to be proud of. On top of Cheryl’s achievements Ashley is a famous footballer therefore at the time there success together was on an enormous level. Intellectually they will have learnt alot about each others careers meaning that they had understanding of something new to what they were used to. Furthermore Cheryl and Ashley bought a house together and they had to get to grips of a new home and new financial responsibilities. This will have enabled Cheryl to gain information and life skills in this department. Emotional Development Marriage is a very emotional life event. Marriage is based on love and affection and about two people living their lives together. Marriage creates an emotionally fulfilling and intimate relationship and enhances the relationship that is already there. Marriage allowed Cheryl’s self esteem to be enhanced as she became a whole new person, living a more mature way of life. The relationship started off very strong and their intimacy seemed to on a high. On the day of Cheryl’s wedding she will have experienced several different emotions including happiness, nervousness and excitement.
