Some of the greatest presidents out there are the ones that no one knows about. It’s not every day that we experience our thoughts drifting to a president unless we are listening to a droning history professor or a raving newscaster. Presidents are long worshipped and long forgotten, recently revived and ready for revision. No matter what good he has done, there is always scandal it seems. Washington was The First, Kennedy was a first, Obama was a first, Clinton was a scandal; these are the presidents we think of. The unsung heroes of the Oval Office are missing. President Calvin Coolidge was one of the greatest presidents, one of the forgotten, one to be remembered. Especially, to be remembered for his value of contemplation. Thought and
The first 15 presidents of the United States were essential in building up such a new nation, though not all contributed to it’s prospering. Making successful judgements about the Antebellum presidents’ effectiveness and overall legacy in office required specific criteria. Analyzing their roles in forming a more perfect union, their accomplishments, and economic management while in office could carve out the best president during this time. Those who asserted peace, freedom, and unity among the nation, ultimately made significant contributions to their name or the state of the country, and established or motivated the economy while in office were considered successful and a valuable president that could possibly earn the title of best. I feel
Throughout history, humans have decimated miles and miles of rainforests, which has led to multitudinous changes in the structure of these tropical ecosystems. As rainforest size diminishes, organisms in the Amazon have less space to permeate, which can ultimately influence trophic cascade in the ecosystem. Habitat destruction can entirely wipe out certain types of species, destroying nutrient cycles in the ecosystem. Essentially, trophic cascade is prevented by the presence of specific organisms in the rainforest, but overpopulation of one species can have calamitous effects.
Calvin Coolidge. A man born on Independence Day, left a legacy that lasted a lifetime. Coolidge came from a humble background and worked his way up to being President, accumulating many traits and values that distinguish him as a man and that demonstrate how he got to the place that he did. Although he had many admirable values, the value I found most important was how cautious and self-disciplined he was. Cautious is not always seen as a positive trait, but in the terms of Calvin Coolidge, he was cautious in a favorable way in which he did not waste time, was a good listener, an insightful advisor, and got things done. His had a philosophy of “don’t do” and was known as ‘Silent Cal’, a nudge at his shy and cautious demeanor. He was considered the ‘great refrainer’, and this differentiated him from other presidents of his time, because being a refrainer allowed him to get results that other men of action had wanted but couldn’t achieve. He was a skilled and effective public speaker, but in private he was a man of few words which he later explained as “The words of a President have an enormous weight and ought not to be used indiscriminately."
Calvin Coolidge’s idea of a President was one that “represented the glory and dignity of the United States,” but that differs immensely from what we see
From reading the “Autobiography of Calvin Coolidge”, an extremely important Coolidge value was his strength. As the 30th president, he re-established American trust in the executive branch of the government. After the presidency of President Harding, the American public has lost their trust in him due to the scandals such as the Teapot Dome Scandal. The people were tired from World War I and the roaring twenties were just around the corner. From 1923 to 1929, Calvin Coolidge’s presidency was one of great accomplishments.
Theodore Roosevelt was one of our greatest presidents. He created the FDA and improved the position of the presidency greatly. Before Theodore came to be president, the position of presidency was slow and wasn’t very interesting so he made the executive branch more powerful by starting new reforms and a strong foreign policy. The life of a president is hard. It is full of stress, responsibilities, and a strong dedication the welfare of your country. Theodore had to deal with all of these presidential stresses, taking up much of his time. Do you know, though, that despite being a president, he led a life of excitement and freedom that many other presidents had never before experienced? Theodore, “Teddy” as his first wife Alice called him,
Calvin Coolidge led a life of public service, throughout his career he wore many hats. Serving his community as a lawyer and mayor and our country as a senator and , eventually, President. He had many defining qualities that contributed to his success but the most important was his belief in people to do the right thing. Being able to have such faith in others takes courage. Oftentimes it is this courage to believe that gets us through challenging season or situations. In his autobiography, Coolidge recalls times when his faith in people saved him in times of crisis, “In time of crisis my belief that people can know the truth, that when it is presented to them they must accept it, has saved me from man of the counsels of expediency” (Coolidge 67).
Everyone wants to be remembered after they die. For an American president, they are guaranteed remembrance. However, the main concern becomes how will their presidency be thought of? Will a positive or negative light reflect on their pages of the history textbooks? The last six presidents have left lasting legacies for the American people. Whether for good or not so good, these presidents have shaped the future of America.
William Jefferson Blythe III, also known as Bill Clinton was our 42nd president serving his terms from Jan. 20th, 1993 too Jan. 19th, 2001. Bill Clinton was a great president he accomplished many things that have never been done or have not been done in many years, but everyone has their flaws as he did he was the cause of a lot of controversy between '95 and '98 involving white house intern Ms. Monica Lewinsky. He might have a lot of defaults thrown his way but, in the end, he changed America for the better.
One of the most admirable men who has ever held the office of President of the United States invested his time in learning from the people around him, adhering to his convictions, and leading by example. This natural-born leader was Calvin Coolidge. He was named for his father, John, who profoundly impacted his life. Calvin valued the strong relationship that he had with his father, and always strived to please him. Like President Coolidge, I believe that it is invaluable to surround oneself with people who are dependable and wise. Ultimately the influence of people around you will shape the person you become. The villagers of his hometown were commendable examples of the importance and necessity of a good moral character. Like Coolidge,
Over the years there have been some heated disputes regarding Bill Clinton’s presidency. Bill Clinton’s scandals and impeachment are key reasons as to why his presidency is highly questionable. Bill Clinton is a good president because he lowered the unemployment, lowered debt, and he lowered crime rates during his two terms.
The president’s legacy is most known for taking on the country at the lowermost point, economically, in U.S. history. The Great Depression had made factories close, over 13,000,000 unemployed; workers were laid off in enormous amounts and people were in panic. The roaring twenties world was
There have been over 40 presidents in the history of the United States. There have been 43 presidents to be exact. Of these 43 Presidents of the United States, there are only about 15 of whom the average American might know. However, the most famous of these Presidents are George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. These two amazing leaders of our country have shown the world what it really means to be a good example to those who follow them. They are men of honor and made this great nation a beautiful and free place to live. Their love for their country and the steps that they took to becoming amazing and passionate leaders are ideas that we, as citizens of the United States, should be aware of. The childhood, the steps they took to careers
The name of my President is Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States of America. Bill Clinton was born on August 19, 1946, in the small town of Hope, Arkansas. Bill was named after his father, William Jefferson Blythe II, who had been killed in a car accident just three months before he was born. Bill’s birth name was William Jefferson Blythe III. His mother, Virginia Cassidy Blyth, moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, to study nursing and find a way to support herself and Bill Clinton, and he stayed with his grandparents in Hope. Eldridge and Edith Cassidy taught Bill strong values and beliefs teaching him that everyone is created equal no matter how different of skin or race they seemed. His mother returned in
Poe starts out with a man, by the name of Montresor, wanting revenge on another man, named Fortunato. Most of the story takes place deep in the Montresor family catacombs. As Montresor lures Fortunato into the catacombs, he chains Fortunato up to a small hole in a wall, bricks it over, and leaves Fortunato to die. Even through the traits of anger, hatred, and revenge, as the story progresses on, Montresor, the main character in “The Cask of Amontillado”, starts to show signs of feeling guilty for wanting to murder Fortunato.
