President AFGE Local 953 I write to advise you that I am resigning as Vice President Corps Relations AFGE Local 953, effective 5:00 PM Thursday, May 4, 2017. It has been my honor to serve the men and women who work diligently with the Army Corps of Engineers “ACOE”. These past three years have educated me in labor relations, and I am appreciative of the fact that Mr. Howard “Dave” Gassett saw fit to reach out and appoint me in 2014. Mr. Gassett mentored and advised me and for that I will be forever grateful. I have welcomed this assignment because of my commitment not to the political views of the union nor to serve as a labor Martyr for my own agenda. I welcomed this appointment because I care about the rights, working conditions and ability
Workers rights is not a usual topic in this day and age. Many people say that we have crossed that hump and it is not worry because of all of the progress that we have made. This is not true, many are denied these rights. A factory in Juarez fired 90 workers who were trying to form a union to get better rights(Document F). It is not a privilege to be able to form a union, it is a right of any worker to be able to form one. The are on the forefront of achieving change in the lives of people who don’t have a voice. It is crucial for them to have one to combat factories, a factory worker described her factory as, “the factory culture oppressive and demoralizing” (Document D). This is not far for the workers who work day in and day out on a wage
Robert and Steve have asked that I prepare a comparison of Woodhaven freight rates with United. To accomplish this, I would like to get the following information related to United upholstery shipments.
Today’s UBCJA is a modern union which fights vigorously for workers’ rights. The UBCJA is currently led by its president, Douglas J. McCarron. McCarron first joined the union as a carpenter in 1968 and worked his way up through the ranks until he was elected to the position of president in 1995. He has since won four more elections in 2000, 2005, 2010, and 2015. During his presidency, McCarron focus has been on training, providing decent benefits, and a living wage (“General President”). The UBCJA itself is currently focused on, “membership support, unmatched skills for our contractors, and a clear direction in leading the industry through this era” (“UBC”). The union has grown immensely in membership in size with 447,743 members within the United States as of 2015.

•The court stated that it had to give heavy deference to such decisions, because it is the right of the legislature to determine not only what the public interests require but also the measures necessary to protect such interests.
d. Do not voice your opinions or feeling about the union to the employees unless asked, if asked make it clear that this is your own personal opinion and that it should not influence anyone’s decision on how the feel about unions; ensure them whatever decision they make they do not have to worry about threats or fear of reprisals if they support the union. Finally do not make any implied promises to employees in exchange for their vote.
If we try to change our working futures as individuals, we will never have the best lives we are capable of having, but if we unite as a union to stand up for what we believe in, we can successfully, positively define our futures. Without the union, the working citizens will always be treated like animals, but with the union, workers can one day be treated appropriately. One way in which the union will improve workers’ lives is by giving benefits, which means a worker take a day off of work without getting fired. This also means if someone happened to get hurt on the job, they could take as much time off as they needed, without their position being replaced. Furthermore, the union will secure workers with less working hours, so they have more time to spend with family and doing personal interests. Along with these examples of what the union will do, it will provide numerous other benefits not mentioned. Together, if we unite as one, we can create a higher quality and optimistic working future through the
The Private Equity Partnerships (PEPs) agreement contains mechanisms to align the interest of general partners (GPs) with those of the limited partners (LPs): performance incentives and direct means of control. In the case of Accel VII, we are interested in how the performance incentives align both the interest of the general and limited partners. They include the terms of the general partners’ compensation structure and calculations of management fees and carried interest. These details can significantly affect the general partners’ incentive to engage in behavior that does not maximize value for investors.
More than seventy-five years after the enactment of the National Labor Relations Act, is there still a place for unions? The solution may lay in the definition of labor itself.
Trump is going to lose and he is going to lose badly. Many Republicans are of the belief that the polls are wrong, that the race is much closer than we think. The truth is Donald J. Trump will not be President; he will not even get close. From the second he accepted the nomination this was a foregone conclusion. Trump has failed to establish the necessary infrastructure in key swing states and has done everything in his power to alienate independents and conservative Republicans like me.
In conclusion, I have found that I both agree and disagree with labor unions. I think they can be very beneficial but also very limiting. I think that the right to work movement is a great opportunity for a lot of workers and businesses to be able to escape some of the cons of unions. Labor unions can be tough but they can be helpful, because of them people can more easily speak out about issues as a group rather than individually, but because of some issues in each union, the right to work movement was created as a
Throughout the Twentieth Century, the evolution of workers’ rights in the workplace has drastically evolved. Through the utilization of constitutional freedoms, workers across the nation came together to support the goal of receiving fair treatment from employers when it came to wages, work conditions, and benefits. However, this wasn’t achieved without great sacrifice from the average man as standing up for their rights was a brave act that usually resulted in consequences.

Lifespan development is a particular field of study which encompasses stability and change of behaviour, and examines patterns of growth that occur throughout the entirety of the lifespan of an individual (Feldman 2014, p.5). The study of human development is incredibly important, as it aids us in the understanding of ourselves, our children, our peers and genuinely any member of any society. Development is widespread and culturally diverse, not to mention ever-changing. Therefore, the human race is always providing new areas for research, as well as challenging the conclusions of previous studies. This report aims to analyse a single adult’s experience of development over the period of their life, using qualitative data. This analysis will focus on several aspects and theories of human development. In particular, it will discuss how a certain life event has impacted one’s life, as well as the concept of self-esteem and influential factors of this, and John Bowlby’s theory of attachment. Later, several conclusions will be drawn in regards to the participant’s life, such as how they have developed as a human, and what has perhaps enhanced or hindered their development and learning.
Capital punishment, seen by some as a justifiable way to punish offenders of a crime. Seen by others as an uncivilized and inhumane action carried out by the corrections system. Easily seen as one of the most controversial issues in society. There are many different factors that go into death penalty cases. One factor involves the burden that the death penalty puts on those involved in the case. The question lies in what is considered burdensome. A burden is subjecting a person to experiences that are unpleasant or hard to deal with. When a person is dealing with a burden, one may show symptoms of depression, being burnout, and anxiety. By asking target driven questions, a conclusion could be drawn as to whether one group has more of a burden than another group. The answers given by attorneys involved in death penalty cases compared to attorneys that never deal with capital punishment will be evaluated. The differences in these answers could drive the conclusion that the death penalty is too burdensome on society.
