On January 30, 2018 President Donald Trump was applauded as he made his way down the United States Capitol. In the beginning of President Trump's speech he urged both parties, the republicans and democrats, to have an open mind in order to present unity as a nation to the citizens. President Trump wanted to clarify up front “The state of the Union is strong, because our people are strong.” Throughout President Trump’s speech, he addressed many issues present in our nation such as the economic status, immigration, and infrastructure. President Trump also went on a tangent declaring the accomplishments achieved this past year, such as 2.4 million new jobs, lower tax rated for hard working Americans, and trading relationships becoming fair. President Trump was definitely pulling at some heartstrings as he told Congress to “finally close the deadly loopholes that have allowed Ms-13 and other criminal gangs to break into our country.” Furthermore, President Trump highlighted infrastructure saying as Americans we built the Empire State Building in less than a year in 1930 to 1931. Today, it takes ten years or more to get a permit to build a road. He called for Congress to produce a bill of at least $1.5 trillion for the new infrastructure investment. He highlighted in order to rebuild infrastructure, both parties will need to work together to provide reliable and safe infrastructure citizens and our economy earn. President Trump was very effective in his delivery of these ideas, his rhetoric speech touched hearts as he mentioned those suffering from loss and he brought attention to our American heritage as builders in improving infrastructure. What stood out to me in his speech was how he began his speech. He bluntly stated to the two parties, “I call upon all of us to set aside our differences,to seek out common ground and to summon the unity we need to deliver for the people.” Although, he
To conclude, Bush’s use of rhetorical devices allows him to reach his audience. It allowed him to grasp their attention and make his points clear. Each device that was used within the Address helped his purpose. The President united the nation together with this Address. Today our country is stronger than ever because of
“Make America Great Again,” the overarching theme of Presidential Candidate Donald Trump’s campaign brings to light the blunt arrogance of our beloved Donald J. Trump. Trump: a billionaire businessman, entrepreneur, and part time reality TV monkey, started his presidential run as of June 2015. He has, since his declaration of his run, been the frontrunner for the GOP Poll breaking out above the other candidates of Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz and many others by consistent double digits. His run so far has been filled with all things Americans lovingly refer to as in its entirety, Donald Trump: arrogance, controversial pursuits, and lack of explanation to anything he has planned. Though Trump himself has decades of experience with economics,
The presidential inauguration is uniquely sacramental: the peaceful transition of power is representative of the strength that has made the United States the oldest democracy on Earth. Every 4 years, a new or incumbent president delivers this address to the nation, setting forth the principles that will guide the new administration, and uniting the nation under shared commonplaces. Each president is given the opportunity to establish themselves as distinct from the presidents before them. In the past decade, we have seen two unique presidents with two drastically different visions of America deliver their message to the United States of America. While both call upon shared national values and the unity of the nation under difficult circumstances, they differ in terms of inclusion and diversity within America. Both presidents deliver compelling arguments that encourage the American people to serve their country in diverse ways.
President Trump said he would repeal and replace the ACA “Affordable Care Act”. Additionally, President Trump has promised to reduce the $19.5 Trillion (and growing) debt by cutting spending on all non essential government agencies and add-on expenses that were senselessly added over the last administration. He also said he would convince companies to bring factories back to America, in essence “Make America Great Again”. These are just some of the many promises President Trump has made to the American people. But many of his promises will take a while to come in affect as his plan to alter the course of our country unfolds.
Trump also pointed out that he wants to end the visa lottery and making it easier for people that want to come to the United State, who are willing and able to work. Even though, he made some comments that offended people and they do not like Trump, he is still our President and he has a lot of responsibilities. Overall, this first year for President Trump has been good and I believe he will carry on pushing the United States to a new
Historically, this speech is going to last forever, therefore, it is important to look at the overall effect. Trump begins the speech with a very sorrowful tone. Hitting major topics such as jobs going overseas, the education system and corrupt politicians. To then slowly transition to a more hopeful and prospering future. The transition focuses on
We as citizens of the United States of America are lucky enough to live in a nation where we are free to make our own decisions and pursue our dreams really without any government interference. However, while this is a blessing, at times it can be quite a curse. A perfect example of this would be the ability for anyone to attempt to become President even if they aren’t in the least bit qualified. If you haven’t figured out who I’m referring to I’m talking about one Donald J. Trump. Trump is a business man who has made billions of dollars through real estate and other means. While successful this man has no business running a country, especially one as powerful as ours. However, for the past few months Mr. Trump has lead in the republican polls.
Trump victory ‘incredible’ reads the front page of The Journal Gazette, and yes, effectively that’s the way it was. Sad was the final result of the presidential elections 2016. Ever since he announced his candidacy to become president of the Divided States of America, Donald Trump was heavily criticized and was never given credit or remote chances of winning. We were too busy criticizing his incoherencies and dumb ideas he had to become the next president of the Divided States of America. The truth of it is that we did not pay attention that, while he was working trying to enamor the voters of the people that had never participated in a presidential election, we were too busy criticizing, judging and laughing at the images that constantly showed the racial tensions and hatred prevalent in most of his political campaign rallies toward the
In the past few months that Donald Trump has been the President of the United States, there’s no denying that there have been questionable actions he has produced. The first things to catch the eye was the firings of his administration of Sally Yates and now James Comey, solely on the purpose that those two did not do something that he agreed with or expose him. Trump has not been a man of his own words exactly. He will say one thing, and the next day he has no recollection of stating it.
On January 20th, 2017, President Donald J. Trump was sworn into office after a tough year and election. Many people believed that he would not be able to win presidency, they said that he wasn't capable of winning an election since he was against very acknowledged candidates such as Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. People believed that Hillary would definitely win but by surprise Trump won the electoral vote with his prize being a whole nation to lead. After being sworn in and officially becoming the president, Trump gave his moving but controversial inaugural speech. Through the longevity of the speech, Trump uses various rhetorical devices in order to get his point across to the audience.
Donald Trump, a once controversial political candidate, gave his 2017 Inaugural address on January 20th, 2017 when he was inaugurated as the 45th president of the United States. Through appeals such as syntax and diction, religion and patriotism, and logic, Donald Trump was able to generate a unifying speech toward his audience. Amidst the growing violence and repercussions of the 2016 election, Donald Trump, in his 2017 Inaugural address, sends the message that he will put America and its citizens first to unite the country and change America for the better.
To Start off, Trump is Trump. What we’ve seen for the past 18 months is Donald Trump. Remember the debates? He was totally unprepared and cannot back up any of his data and more down the list, but leaving all that side: The speech sounded well written and sounded inspirational even though my standards for him are low. The first thing I noticed was that he kept his character valid as in he managed to not yell out an insult and to speak using intelligible language. He is clearly not a charismatic speaker as previous performances he has given, but he kept it together; However, who cannot read a prompter without any emotion, without any passion. I kept that in mind, there were certain points that got my attention it started when he began his speech.
“Make America Great Again,” started Trump’s campaign to become the next President of the United States.Yes, Donald Trump has some flaws, but he can win the Presidential Election. Even with all the hate and rumors, Donald Trump is the only candidate fit to be the President.
From the very beginning of his campaign trail, Donald Trump piqued America’s interest with his blunt and oftentimes shocking statements. With his candidacy came exclamations of making America great, building walls, deporting illegal immigrants, and keeping jobs in the United States. A Google search
To begin with, on this historic day Americans and the world watched the transfer of power from one administration to another. It is not a secret that the country is divided over the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. As compared to former president Obama’s inaugurals, the crowd for Trump inauguration was not as much as it was for Obama. Nevertheless, a new president was sworn in, and that is in the name of President Donald J. Trump, the 45th president of the United States of America.
