Preventing Fatal Driving Accidents by Teaching Teenagers How to Drive

In recent years, statistics show that over 5,000 teens per year are involved in fatal accidents, in the United States. Some of these accidents are as simple as lack of driving experience to quick access to full driving privileges at an early age, some of these collision are life change or result in death. To reduces numbers of fatalities, we most coach our youth to be safe driver. First step, as adult/parent(s) is let the child show "initiative in driving". This is important because the teen might not have an interest in driving, when you(as the parent/adult) thinking they should be learning to drive. Not want to overwhelm the teen with to much information dealing with the car, I ended lesson after 15 to 20 minutes. Giving him time to retain and apply to next lesson, to build confidence to drive with ease. The next lesson, I plan ahead to drive in a empty parking lot so he can learn to make left and right turn with his signals. This is showing him how to control a car by making smooth stop with the car, backing up the car straight and safely while informing the other car use of his next move. After many hours of no traffic in the empty parking lot it is time to upgrade to the road and to slow moving cars. Making the interaction with other cars means you need to learn some defensive driving skills such as; changing lanes, the intersection, and maintaining safe driving distances from other cars.You want to remember to do your lesson in the daylight in good weather because it make the teen more focus on your words and what he/she is doing. In conclusion, all adult/parent(s) should be active members in the a teen driving experience to ensure life in the old and the young. Teen should have a clear understanding that driving is a privilege and very serious situation that calls for them to be a safe driver.
