One can gain a better understanding of the process of turning a piece of writing from an inspiration into a craft. By examining the elements lined out in each essay can be beneficial in creating a piece of writing that is beyond a college or student level. Elbows essay lines out the importance of a strong prewriting regimen. That editing too early can ruin writing. He believes that by using the method of free writing, it can inspire ideas that may be limited when worrying about grammar. While Murray emphasizes the necessity to create many drafts to form writing into its full potential. Saying each draft is an opportunity to discover what the author has to say and they the best way to say it. By transforming writing into its maximum potential it goes from being an idea an inspiration a masterpiece.

Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre-writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. I never really thought about the prewriting process as being an invention until it was pointed out. When I start to put together an essay and piece different parts together I truly am starting to invent this paper. I am combing through different sections and decided what I like and what I don't and what really fits where. I try to play with my sentences and sometimes ill re-write a sentence a few different ways just to see how I like how each one sounds and looks to find the best one suited for what I'm writing.

Freewriting has been a strategy for me in previous classes as well as on my own. When I start to write a paper or an essay, I like to write down everything I know about the subject first, my own thoughts and information I have stored away. In order to choose certain ideas, I compare what I have already learned about the subject versus information I conduct research on. I tend to brainstorm as well and pick out the major ideas to the subject I'm writing about, so the reader can understand my concept. On my first day of English class when my professor discussed “Free Writing” I was still surprised that it was still relevant in college. I remember way back since elementary doing free writing. Free writing is a prewriting technique in which we keep writing for amount of time without paying attention to grammar or spelling errors, it produces raw material without be criticized. Free writing is used like a little journal for us to write anything that comes to mind. It can be anything that you want to jot down on that piece of paper. You can draw a picture, write down some music notes, or even just scribble some random thoughts it’s your own canvas for writing. Free writing plays a vital role in our writing process.

I like the method freewriting, because before I gather ideas in my brain, and as soon as the ideas start flowing, I put them on paper. When using the freewriting method, I forget all of the rules concerning order, grammar, punctuation or spelling. The main rule of freewriting is just keep writing, do not stop for anything. In this way, I can write many words in a short time so that I really enjoy writing. I just write things I want to write; I don’t need to worry about the grammar, structure or vocabulary.

However, I can “kill two birds with one stone” if I just go to Wal-Mart since there is a pharmacy and a grocery section available inside. There are many types of prewriting. The two the I like to use the most are Freewriting and Journal Keeping. Freewriting is filling up a piece of paper with any idea that comes to mind about a topic. Journal Keeping is another form of prewriting in which you write your most interesting thoughts and experiences in a daily journal kept for private use.

One essential step or process in becoming a better writer to me is thinking and planning. These are similar to whereas I can use them to further my knowledge in the beginning stages of writing.
