Characters are listed with their name in bold, followed by a physical description, mental description, and socioencomic background information. Flora A: Princess Flora is a young woman in her early twenties, who has brilliant red hair and fair skin. Due to her imprisonment, she has grown very thin and frail, and is forced to wear only a ragged dress instead of fine clothes and jewelery. Ideally, her eyes are large, colorful, and very expressive, despite the air of melancholy that perpetually surrounds her. She has retained various scars, especially around her wrists, due to the chains she is forced to wear while in her cell. Her movements suggest a desperate urge to break away from the post she is chained to, and she typically walks in a …show more content…
He is dark haired and very heavyset, further augmented by thick plates of armor and his sword. He holds himself with pride and arrogance, and walks with his stomach leading the way. He appears to be a very well kept man, shaven clean, with close cropped hair. His face is always locked in either a condescending sneer or stern scowl, though his handsomeness is readily apparent. His person should inspire a sense of arrogance and discomfort despite his conventional attractiveness, as opposed to the tenderness that Rossignol would express. He speaks in a clearly foreign accent, but appears to have a generally good grasp of the common …show more content…
He is very strong but has a lithe build, able to circle around his opponents with ease, much like a dancer. He appears to be unshaven and somewhat unkempt due to his time serving in the war, and bears a tired expression on his face due to a lack of sleep, easily expressed by heavy dark circles around the eyes. In short, while not particularly attractive, his mannerisms and warm voice make him appear as an inviting person. He is right handed, and so he holds his longsword in that hand and a metal shield in the other. He favors leather or chain armor that allows him to move more freely, as opposed to the Lord General's heavy plate
‘He stands up, tall and intimidating. He glares with real anger. And I can’t help but feel a blush of pride seeing it. I’ve been wrong about him’ (p. 204).
Serious, smart and calculated he's Riedel’s right hand man the guy will do anything to complete his mission easily the most diversely skilled soldier in the group.
The language that he uses is very eloquent and enunciates his words correctly which is apparent throughout the film. An example of M. Marin having a higher linguistic register is when he is asking his pupils to tell him words that they don’t know the meaning of from a text that they seem to be studying. Marin evidently
He is like Lesia; a hard worker and a proud person all together. He is handsome, tall, with dark hair and big muscles. He is Lesia’s older brother and he helped her decide to go to Canada. He is determined and goes to jail for trying to get into the army (when he is an enemy of the state) later in the story.
1. In the film, Lord Farquaad is the antithesis of what a valiant prince/knight-in-shining armor is expected to look like. Instead of a "Prince Charming," who would stereotypically be young, tall, and good-looking, Lord Farquaad is old(er), short, and although he has a strong jawline, which would be associated with rugged good looks, he comes off as sleazy and villainous. Lord Farquaad hilariously attempts to make up for his shortcomings by standing on stools in public and by wearing a suit of armor specifically designed to make his arms and legs look longer.
“He was a short, thick-set man, with coarse, commonplace features, and that swaggering air of pretension which marks a low man who is trying to elbow his way upward in the world” (3).
glamour, and fortune. He is an uncommonly great warrior and has performed many heroic feats.
Life in America for immigrants was destined to take a new turn after the 1924 national origins quota act legislation whose main target was to exclude immigrants who were considered undesirable. The undesirable immigrants were mainly those who had migrated to United States of America but could not pass the bar of eligibility to become American citizens. It is then that investigations on what was occasioning racial conflicts as well as what had motivated such immigrants to settle in the pacific coast were launched by a group of sociologists, and this is how we come to meet Flora Belle who is one of the interviewees and who strongly denounces her traditional cultural values. She portrays herself as a modern woman throughout her interview as well as her life and this paper will therefore seek to establish the ways in which Flora portrays herself as a modern woman alongside her take on traditional cultural as well as gender values. The first instance in which Flora takes a modern woman depiction upon herself is when her mother took to the shrine with her in order to worship there and also give a plate of food to their god. At this point and instead of her offering herself to the worship as per their traditions she slams down a plateful of rice intended for the idol and in its presence. “So long old top, I don’t believe in you anyway”, she utters in denunciation of their traditional religious faith. This of course she did not anticipate her mother to applause for and we are
Furthermore, his hall (‘atrium”) is painted with his story, showing that he came from simple roots. Still, the one thing he does that really showed that he is everyman, is when he talked about his bowels (“venter”) and his laxative (“malicorium”). All of this shows that even if he is a wealthy man, he is still a common
Chris communicates clearly as he is able to understand others who do not speak English fluently. He regularly receives calls from delivery drivers that have strong accents. Chris is able to accept the call and answer any questions they have.
This most fearsome warrior has proven himself from the youngest age as worthy of honor and respect. He is driven by his father's legacy of shame and has no use for unsuccessful men. But as he projects his image of strength, we
He is without doubt a man of high morals which is an important feature of a hero. He agrees to avenge his father even though he almost crushed with the burden. “oh cursed spite that ever I was born to set it right”. It is clear that he does not want to murder but accepts the task nonetheless “I have sworn’t”. He also apologises to
My benefits for this story is that I think its great. Because its how they put the old sports and how they rode on horses and all. In there time they didn't have what we have now. And to me I think that is very amazing to us because they I know they had some fun. And I know that they kind of sports was the best. And Princess Cynisca was the woman who led the way for other woman to go on to win the chariot races. So the womans have to give it up for her because maybe she was the one back then she probily was the first princess who played a sport. And the sport that I like of there's kinda is the javelin because that sport today is with a different name and with a ball. Witch is called the slingshot and with a ball. And with ball we have to stand behind a line and throw it to see if you got far.
After finding out that she is a princess, Mia's grandmother decides for her that she needs to look the part of a princess as well as act it. Mia is opposed at first but then learns to love her new look after all. This new look is acting like a new beginning for Mia, and she no longer needs to call herself, in her words, ugly. This makeover lets her princess side come out which has been hidden for most of her life. When word gets out that she is the next princess of Genovia, newspapers get her picture and describe her as “the statuesque beauty who is the product of Helen and Philippe's tempestuous whirlwind college romance” (150).
He clearly encompasses the conflicted modern and post-modern human mind. This is exhibited in his indecisive behavior and procrastination. Additional conflicted feelings about love, sexuality, marriage, family, when coupled with his narcissism, sensitive behavior and the ‘Oedipal complex’ that he’s experiencing, give us a strong and realistic example of the troubled and confused mind of the modern man. His grey personality is what differentiates him from the classical literary figures. He has flaws, most of which greatly affect the reader’s opinion of him. At times he is likeable, most often, he’s not. He’s a confused set of realistic humane traits that make him an archetype for the modern
