Showing the video to new inmates is a good idea because it gives them a real small insight of what prison is like. The video serves as a study guide for future inmates. It opens the eyes of people and makes them realize that actions that could be considered “normal” on the outside, in prison these actions are red flags. It is important for people to understand that in most cases inmates are not doing favor because of their kindness or just because maybe they went through the same situation before. In prison, everything is different and is very likely that every favor regardless of how small it is, it comes with a huge hidden price tag that must be paid somehow at some

The church was not instrument to measure the popular belief. It was an instrument to repair the principles of the civilization. Whenever they act the city was troubled calling them disturbers. But they were so intoxicated in Jesus that they have the conviction to not obey to human but to God. As a result, they reversed many evil organizations. The city is notoriously known for having one of the highest homicide rates, rapid street crimes, and prison system filled with citizens. In the film, the psychoanalyst emphasized that Wayne County Jail is targeting female offenders that are recidivist, full of rage, and simply out of control. The correction system is perceived to be the “last hope” for many of the female offenders because their life of criminality could lead to life long prison sentences or even worse death. Many of the women are in the film have been convicted of robberies, drug trafficking, prostitution,

Summary: Chapter 2 discusses correctional history. Two French visitors were able to compare and contrast their experience in an American prison. Early punishment in the western countries consisted of whipping, branding, mutilation, drowning, suffocation, execution, and banishment. The first correctional facility were jails and influenced by Catholic Churches in the middle age times. This chapter introduces two individuals that were very influential to the correction system, John Howard, and William Penn. John Howard could persuade the government to lighten the punishment, separate jails for females and males, provide sanitary, food, and water. William Penn served jail time but was released due to wealth. Later in life he was given the opportunity to propose laws & he used this moment to fix how inmates are treated. He was against harsh punishment.
By showing the reader the harsh circumstances of his lockdown despite their good behavior, they are all affected. We are able to empathize with the inmates on a more personal level.
This article discusses the issues about the use of restraints toward the inmates in the federal penitentiary in Lewisburg Pennsylvania. The article goes on into the story of Sebastian Richardson and how refused to have a cell mate that he saw as threating and potently dangerous based on his nickname “Bam Bam” and “The Prophet”. The two would have had to share a cell no larger than a parking space says the article. Richardson refused to accept “The Prophet” as a new call mate, and then was taken out of his cell thirty minutes later was taken to the laundry room and stripped and put in paper clothes and shackles. I think the group presentations were good. The students that where in a group with me seemed to worked very hard on the presentation and gathering information on Al Capone. Pretty much everyone in the group was really active on coming up with ideas on the presentation and figuring out ways to make the presentation more exciting one of the member of the group decided to put pictures in our presentation to make it more lively and not boring with just words and facts of author’s they have written on Al Capone. we also consider a more graphical documentary video on Al Capone to open up the class to be interested on our topic but i really think Al Capone group could improve on a couple of things too. for example one of the my team mates gave me
When you think of Burmese Pythons do you think of vicious killers who wap around their prey and squeezes the life out of its prey. The pythons are invading the the Everglades right now and people need to get them out because now there is changes in local animals, changes in the people, and changes in the ecosystems. So people need to get these snakes out.
By earning the prisoners respect, this officer’s life was saved. This is an important life lesson to all law enforcement and corrections officers. Another thing I want to point out briefly is that inmates have a code of things you can and cannot do. For instance, sex offenders generally
When looking at the history between the United States and Latin America, you see many interactions between them, all that aided the relationship that they have today. Despite that the United States and Latin America are in the same part of the world, the beliefs in which they govern may differ. This difference has often been seen playing a major role in the disputes that have occurred in past. The United States and Latin America have faced many social, economical and governing barriers in forming a strong and positive relationship in the early twentieth century, this is due to the differences that the two had between cultures and the constant demand for power. However, the two countries have found ways to meet in the middle of their cultural differences, to form an equally fair relationship.
As I was watching the episode I had this intense feeling of compassion for the inmates. There was a sense of frustration that I felt I shared with them. Their feeling of helplessness came through in the episode, you can feel their desire for a better life. However, their hands seemed to be tied useless in the prison’s system. When the inmates went to the Oakwood psychiatric hospital, they appeared to succeed with their battle of their disease. They enjoyed their quality of life better in the hospital than in the prison. It was quite frustrating to watch them have to return to the prison because of the lack of space or what not at the hospital. My personal desire to assist was intensified when watching the patients request to stay at the hospital and not return to prison.
