Private and Public Partnerships in cancer prevention, obesity reduction and increasing access to healthy food The current state of public health in the United States is encouraging various initiative across the country to help in addressing issues in health such as prevention of cancer, obesity, and the access to healthy foods. Many organizations in the community have developed programs to help with eradicating health inequities and outcomes especially in the minority populations in the country with respect to access to healthcare and food resources, but with inadequate funds and technical assistance, these organizations have been faced with constraints that have rendered the implementation of their initiatives difficult to achieve. Therefore, Private organizations have opted to partner with governmental organizations in order to help fund their programs and they have also been able to receive technical assistance in the process. NCI community initiative The field of clinical and biological sciences is going through a change that would inevitably affect the delivery of health services especially to cancer patients (O 'Brien, Kaluzny, & Sheps, 2014). According to statistics provided in 2012 by the American Cancer Society, it is estimated that approximately 1.5 million cases of cancer are diagnosed and about 600,000 people die every year because of deaths related to cancer (O 'Brien et al., 2014, p. 18).
