Abortion should be Made Illegal
Hello my name is Ana De la Torre and today I will be discussing a very, if not the most, controversial topic there is; abortion. Currently abortion is legal in the United States after the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade in 1973 ruled that banning abortions is unconstitutional. Although it is technically legal, each state has its own set of laws that restrict abortions. For example, in Texas, the woman may not abort the baby at 20 weeks, must attend counseling sessions, and must have ultrasounds done before the abortion (Abortion laws by state). Instead of having restrictions, abortion should just be banned in every state.
Abortion is both unconstitutional and inhuman. Approximately 1.06 million abortions

About 10% of women experience complications right after the abortion and about one fifth of those complications are major (After Effects of Abortion). The minor complications range from “minor infections, bleeding, fevers, chronic abdominal pain, gastro-intestinal disturbances, vomiting, and Rh sensitization” (After Effects of Abortion). While the most common major complications are “infection, excessive bleeding, embolism, ripping or perforation of the uterus, anesthesia complications, convulsions, hemorrhage, cervical injury, and endotoxic shock” ( After Effects of Abortion). Research has also shown that abortion can lead to miscarriages in later pregnancies and about 5% of women who have had an abortion are left sterile (After Effects of Abortion). Not only do women suffer from health complications but they also have to deal with the psychological trauma of abortion. In a study of 500 women who had an abortion up to 10% of those women suffered from “serious psychiatric complications” (After Effects of Abortion). Studies also show that “within 8 weeks after their abortions, 55% expressed guilt, 44% complained of nervous disorders, 36% had experienced sleep disturbances and 31% had regrets about their decision.” (After Effects of Abortion). Teenagers who abort are more likely to suffer from depression and self-esteem problems due from social
There are two main political parties you can choose from in the United States, The Democrats and the Republicans. There are also third parties you can choose from. People can choose to be part of any party. We are divided by the left and right side on the political spectrum. The right are more conservative and the left are more liberal. These two political parties show philosophical differences through their viewpoints on major topics. With so many differences between the parties, finding topics or issues upon which constituents agree on can be difficult.
Since Roe v. Wade in 1973 the Nation has been divided into two schools of thought. Both sides have convincing arguments that are heard all around. The Pro-Life group believes that abortion is ultimately murder. Even if that human is not born you are killing the potential of a living homo sapien. The Pro-Choice group on the other hand looks at this not as murder but an infringement of our constitutional rights and that we are empowering women to make this a decision about their body and not to be obstructed by the government’s views.(Abortion Procon.org) Maureen Shaw is a feminist, writer, and a mother. She has wrote many articles for websites including, Quartz, The Atlantic, Huffington Post, and many others. Maureen Shaw a writer on social issues has wrote an article on how becoming a mother has “made her even more Pro-Choice.” on the website Rewire. This article describes how the conservatives in the United States and those of conventional thinking have a clouded view on why women have abortions and why they are getting abortions. Shaw’s journey into motherhood has strengthened her view on abortion and on the right-wing political ideologies to judge her motivations.
Abortion is one of those heavy topics that either side can be right or wrong. Abortion mostly gets divided into two sides; Pro-Life or Pro-choice. On the side of Pro- life a person believes that the government has an obligation to preserve all human life, regardless of intent, viability, or quality of life concerns. On the side pro-choice a person believes that individuals have unlimited autonomy with respect to their own reproductive systems as long as they do not breach the autonomy of others. (Head)
Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus. Some say that a fetus has the right to life, despite a woman’s opinion, while others strongly believe that a woman’s personal choice should trump all outside voices. Those who approve of abortion endorse the right of a woman to have a choice, backing the decision made in Roe v. Wade which states a woman may legally obtain an abortion under the Fourteenth Amendment under the United States Constitution. On the other hand, those who disprove of abortion claim ethical judgments relating to religion, specifically the Catholic faith. People who rebut abortion accept that a fetus has the right to live as soon as it is known to exist. Although both sides of the abortion argument have valid points, I support a woman’s right to choose because I believe a woman should have control of her own body.
Abortion is a very controversial topic in today’s society. Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks (Abortion). Many people have issues regarding this topic, while some support the idea. This paper will be covering the pros and cons, people’s attitudes, and how a researcher could possible change your perspective on the topic at hand.
Abortion is a subject that numerous people have strong opinions about; some believe that it is a form of murder and should be banned, yet others believe that the decision should be for the woman herself to make. In my eyes, the choice to abort or not abort is the woman’s, not the public’s. However, many men disagree with pro-choice.
Have you ever wondered why abortion is such a debated topic. How some politicians use it as a political ploy and others are completely against abortion? Also, if the supreme court says abortion is legal, why have many states added so many restrictions and rules to it. If abortion is legal, why does the government try so hard to make women feel like it isn’t. When did it become ok for the government tell women what and what not to do with our bodies and made our decisions for us? These new abortion restrictions makes it even harder for women to have an abortions, then it already is.
The rights of women have been debated time and time again, regardless of the fact that women are indeed people and should have as many rights as men currently do. The topics of numerous aspects regarding women and their health, personal choices, and even their own bodies are still being debated today. Men still have a higher pay than women for doing the same job. Despite the popular belief, women being able to vote did not mean that they were treated as equals in the working field, at home, or everyday living and this is still an ongoing debate.
“In 2013, 664,435 legal induced abortions were reported to CDC from 49 reporting areas. The abortion rate for 2013 was 12.5 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15–44 years, and the abortion ratio was 200 abortions per 1,000 live births.” (cdc.gov) Over half a million abortions in one year alone that happened in the U.S.A, and that does not even take into account the rest of the world. Abortion is the act of intentionally terminating a human pregnancy, usually done before the third trimester. The significant question is should abortion be sanctioned or should it be forbidden by law. Many argue that abortion is like murder and that it should be illegal, but the other view should not get overlooked. There are several pros and cons
There has been a recent study that shows many complications after abortion. 62% Higher Risk of Death from All Causes, 2.5 Times Higher Risk of Suicide Compared to women who give birth, women who abort have an elevated risk of death from all causes, which persists for at least eight years. Higher risk of death from suicide and accidents were most prominent. Projected on the national population, this effect may contribute to 2,000 - 5,000 more deaths among women each year.1 Southern Medical Journal, 2002. 65% Suffered Trauma, 31% Had Health Complications In this study comparing American and Russian women who had experienced abortion, 65% of American women studied experienced multiple symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which they attributed to their abortions. Slightly over 14% reported all the symptoms necessary for a clinical diagnosis of abortion induced PTSD, and 84% said they did not receive adequate counseling. 31% had health complications afterwards.4 Medical Science Monitor Medical Science Monitor, 2004. Even though safe abortion is used throughout the world it has a high risk of having side effects on your
Abortion is one of the most controversial topics and many argue that it's wrong, but I disagree, I am a strong supporter of abortions. An abortion is when a woman deliberately terminates a pregnancy, there are many medical methods used to perform an abortion. The techniques used for abortion have changed drastically over time and many cultures developed their own forms of abortions. Originally abortions were unregulated and many women performed abortions on themselves at home, which were very unsafe and many at home abortions resulted in injury or death. The two main methods of abortion as of right now are surgical and medical abortion, these are much safer than previous methods and rarely inflict any harm onto the woman. The surgical method is performed using a vacuum like device to empty the uterus of its content. The medical abortion can only be used early in a pregnancy and requires a woman to take a prescribed pill for the first seven weeks of her pregnancy.
Abortion has been a huge issue for many years, not only in the United States but worldwide. It makes up for more than 70,000 maternal deaths (Terzo). Women who define abortion as a procedure that simply rids a woman’s body of a glob of cells, do not understand the truth: the so-called glob of cells has a heartbeat, nervous system, and brain, and can feel pain. Therefore, the procedure of abortion is nothing less than murder.
“I’ve noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born” quoted our past president Ronald Reagan. Imagine that the year is 2025 and you live in California. Abortion is now legal in every state in America. There have been 1 million abortions the past 2 weeks alone. Coming from myself, a responsible student who is also an aunt, I believe that abortion should be illegal. For many important reasons, I feel that everyone could benefit if abortion is illegal. Listen up as I explain the many reasons why making abortion illegal is the best solution in the United States.
While this is the case of some pro-abortion individuals both in practice and in politics. This has been criticized by anti-abortion measure. According to Rachel Wong, a Women's Forum Australia Director of Research, Policy, and Advocacy. The measure concerning taking abortion out of the crimes act will remove important protections for women.
In an abortion the disregard for God’s creation, both infant and mother, is contrary to God’s role for mankind in the world order. Through it humanity attempts to become the divine by assuming the choice to terminate a human life. As we read in Genesis 3: 17 God punishes that kind of arrogance; likewise humanity can expect to be judged for its arrogance. The act of abortion does not spare the subject from God’s original punishment; on the contrary the procedure amplifies the female body’s pain as the child is killed, mutilated and finally extracted from the womb. The pain associated with this amoral act provides a foretaste of the pain endured in hell by the unrepentant.
