Everyday animals are being locked up in cages and are being tested on. Animals in laboratories do not provide reliable results in human beings, and are going through cruel and inhumane tests. There are also alternative methods that replace the need for the animals. Testing animals has contributed to many life savings cures and treatments, along with animals themselves benefiting from the results of the testing. Animals are also similar to humans in many ways and are appropriate test subjects. Animal testing needs to stop because every year 100 million animals die. The animals have no say in this treatment being done to them. Animals cannot be tested in a variety of human procedures despite what the benefits are.
Animal tests do not reliably

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 5 million members and supporters. Peta states, “These modern methods include sophisticated tests using human cells and tissues (also known as in vitro methods), advanced computer-modeling techniques (often referred to as in silico models), and studies with human volunteers.” This explains the other methods used to research animals other than testing. Jon Klingborg is the president of the California Veterinary Medical Association. Like others who are in support of animal testing, Klingborg claims, “ Thanks to the last century of animal research, we have achieved life-saving treatments for people and animals” (Klingborg). Proponents of animal testing assert that research has played a large role in discovering treatments. The testing allows the scientists to see how certain drugs and methods react when given to the animals, which they can then use to treat humans. Although animal testing allows scientists to learn more about the animals, scientists need to refocus and begin understanding more of the biology in humans. Zerhouni also claims, “We need to refocus and adapt new methodologies for use in humans to understand disease biology in humans” (Zerhouni). Scientists moving away from testing animals, and move towards experimenting with humans. This
For many years, the field of science has used animals in medical experiments worldwide, because of this innocent animals are being killed everyday. They are being tested with new drugs, new treatments, and by many makeup companies. Connecticut recently celebrated the passage of the “Beagle Freedom Law”, a law that requires laboratories to work with charities and rescue groups to find homes for research cats and dogs. Animals are being tested so humans do not have to be but animal tests do not reliably predict results in human beings, although animals are the closest thing to humans. Most experiments involving animals are flawed, wasting the lives of innocent animal subjects. Over 100 million animals suffer a year from testing. Testing animals is a lot more expensive than alternative methods and it is wasting government research dollars. Animal testing is not only a bad idea, but it is also inhuman and it should not be tolerated. The FDA should stop allowing animal testing. An animal does not give out the same results on a test than a human would.
Do you know that the lipstick that we use to make ourselves look better but blinded millions of innocent animals? Do you know that the perfume we use to make ourselves smell better but poisoned millions of innocent animals? Do you know that the medicine we had to make ourselves feel better but killed millions of innocent animals? Animal testing is the ‘ugly secret of beauty industry’ and ‘darkness portion in medical field’.
Albert Sabin, the developer of the polio vaccine once said, “Without animal research, polio would still be claiming thousands of lives each year.” Polio is a deadly disease caused by a virus that spreads from person to person. This infectious disease renders the brain and spinal cord helpless while also ensuring a permanent case of paralysis to the victim. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “…13,000 to 20,000 para-lytic cases were reported annually,” before the 18th century. After the introduction of the polio vaccine, “…a total of 2,525 paralytic cases were reported, compared with 61 in 1965.” This dramatic decrease in the prominence of the polio disease can only be attributed to the success of animal testing.
Throughout history, animal experimentation has played an important role in leading to new discoveries and human benefits. However, what many people tend to forget are the millions of animals that are tortured or killed during the process of these painful, deadly experiments. Many people seem to misunderstand animal nature and the laboratory procedures and techniques that are executed on the animals. The procedures are cruel, unreliable, and harmful. Luckily there are more humane alternatives that have also proved to be less expensive.
There is much debate over whether animal testing should be allowed or not. Some people think that it is not essential to sacrifice animals for human benefits because they are being abused and tortured severely during experiments. Some others who stand against animal testing claim that humans eliminate many lives on earth in order to safe humans’ lives, so there is no justice because even animals have the right to live on earth, yet these people do not consider the truth that animals are being used in the food industry or in the laboratories. Thus, if someone asks how many animals are being used in the laboratory experiments around the world every year, who can give an accurate answer? It can be one, ten, or fifty million. It is difficult to find the exact figure on this question because people only read news through mass media such as having a new vaccine which can help human avoid uterus cancer or a new medicine help humans cure strokes, but they also need to know how many lives of the animals would have to take in order to get theses vaccines. Therefore, some organizes think that animal testing is one of the most disturbing experiments ever, and it should be banned. Despite many controversies with opposing opinions, a compromise can be made in order to reduce the use of animals in the laboratory experiments.
Imagine just waking up one day being stripped of your home, children, food and everything you own. You’re in the dark and all of a sudden these bright, intense, fluorescent lights flick on. A very large, unfamiliar looking menacing figure approaches you and prods you with needles and all sorts of drugs. Your barely fed and you're stuck here for the rest of your life. Now what if I told you that already happens today in the year 2017. These “people” i'm talking about are poor defenseless animals that have to go through these horrible conditions every day just for an experiment that might not even work. All animal testing should be banned, even if such testings would save human lives because, the process is painful, you’re endangering a species and haven't all cruel despicable nations tested on not only humans but also animals.
“The question is not, can they reason? Not, can they talk? But, can they suffer?” - Jeremy Bentham. Testing on animals was never the humane way to test new products or drugs on animals. The fact that there are companies out there that choose to test on animals is disappointing because those companies have options to replace such cruelty. Animal experimentation is not the only option; there is always an option.
Each year, about 100 million animals in the U.S. alone are killed by animal experimentation, (PETA.org). Can this be stopped? Animal testing is a nutshell is experimenting drugs with certain animals that could possibly be cured. Animal testing started about 150 years ago, (Understanding Animal Research). The practice of animal experimentation is extremely inefficient, has much better alternatives to it, and is absolutely cruel. The practice of animal testing needs to become to an immediate end.
Animal testing is a horrible event that occurs worldwide, killing and deforming millions of animals each year. (Pathos/Anger + Amplification) Animal testing is a monstrosity, which is done by monsters. (Aphorism) Testing on animals is unnecessary, cruel and unreliable (Thesis + Understatement). Mice, rats, primates and even cats and dogs are forced to live in cold, dark cages. Having these animals secluded in small cages is like having humans sit in a small room without any contact with the outside world, only allowed to sit there and stare at the wall for hours on end. (Simile) These animals are used to develop treatments, determine toxicity
There is nothing that angers me more, than people working in companies, factories, laboratories, and even in the comfort of their home to use innocent animals to test human products. They continue to test out these products on animals, even after it has been proven that in almost all cases, animal testing has no benefit on us as buyers or consumers. I have found that laboratories are using many animals that are considered as pets to families, such as mice and rats, rabbits, and even guinea pigs. They are forcefully using them to test out medical advancements, makeup products, perfumes, sanitation products, and even cleaning products, this all should be illegal. With enough awareness and a lot of support around the world, we can stop the
Peta is bad, your opinion is wrong, and the animals should die for science. Hold on, give me a sec,* clears throat* angry mob, put the torches and the pitchforks down, it's a joke. Clickbait and controversy aside, back in the space race animal testing was completely necessary. Many people disagree with this topic, and that's ok. Now that the angry mob has settled down a bit, let me tell you why animal testing was necessary during the space race. “Was the testing even necessary? Is winning the space race even important? And how will this help us as a nation?” Most people didn’t and still don’t think of these questions. They think, “NASA, the smartest and most responsible people on our planet are killing animals for science? Not on my
Do you like being pricked and prodded? How about having body parts removed and put on a friend? In this paper, I plan to prove that animal testing and experimentation is useless, by explaining that major medical advances were not discovered because of animal testing, animals hardly act as good models for the human body, and that testing deprives animals of their natural function. Many animals are wrongly killed daily because of animal testing and experimentation. Major medical advances were not discovered because of animal testing. There is absolutely no use in animal testing if it hasn't done anything for humans. “Experiments with mice and rats failed to turn up any connections between cancer and smoking. Epidemiological studies, not animal experiments, found links between heart disease and cholesterol” (Berlatsky). Many diseases
Today, animals are used in laboratory and tested makeups, medicines and other chemicals. In 2005, five hundred English scientists signed an appeal by the Research Defense Society supporting that animal testing plays a critical role in medical researches. Because they believe that animal testing is a worthy practice that has helped human medication progress more safely and fast. Beside some benefits from animal testing, animal testing should be stopped because it is unreliable, unmoral and there are alternatives for animal testing.
Scientists putting animals through suffrage through medical research, but in any case, it’s not contested, but on a scale it often is. Some people know that there can be an up and downstream of whether animal experimentation is a part of good science and also result in medical breakthroughs for humans. Depending on whether the progress may have achieved by any means. Millions of animals each year in the United States are experimented on for testing to help find cures and medicine for sick people/patients. Toxicity of medicine is put into animals and take the risk of whether the tests are successful or not so that people can research further more. Research is led into saving lives, but what about the ones that are tested for hours on end and
Animal testing has been going on for a long time. Many scientists believe it is necessary for scientific discovery, however, animal lovers like me, disagree with these so called "geniuses" and want to put a stop to this madness that makes us all disgusted. Animal testing isn't what it's cracked up to be at all! Humans just keep on taking advantage of the weak and it makes me wonder what scientists have done, and are doing to other species of animals in their brutal horrific tests. I personally have no idea how just a kid like myself could stop such a big issue in society today. Protesting against these evil scientists will most likely just cause a seine and even then no one will listen to just me.
