Abortion Why should any female be forced to carry a baby she does not want to keep? Abortions have been legalized since 1973 in the “Roe v. Wade” decision. And upholding that was the “Right To Choose” which referred to the pro-choice stance. With the evolving moral standards of society, abortions are becoming more and more justified. Abortions, the practice of removing a fertilized egg from a mother has become a controversial issue in the country, should be allowed because she might not be in the place for a child, could have an unsafe abortion, and may be a rape victim. First off, women that want an abortion might just not be in the right position to have one. As President Barack Obama said, “I would rather my daughters have an abortion then be punished for their own sexual acts, and have to screw up their lives with an unwanted child.” Over fifty percent of politicians are pro-choice, they believe that abortion is moral and should be legal. Some people can make decisions in the split second that they do not realize could impact the rest of their lives. If abortions were illegal, the death rate of women would increase due to unsafe black market abortions. 78,000 women have died each year since 1970 because of unsafe abortions. Whereas, legal abortions give women the chance to have a clean and safe abortion. There's also a higher rate of infection with unsafe black market abortions because there is no trained doctor in the practice of abortion. There is also other methods to abort a child like the day after pill. The day after pill works just like an abortion would. It causes the female to have a miscarriage. The day after pill will only work in a certain time frame though. Sometimes it is not the woman’s fault this is happening to
