The topic of reproductive rights surrounding women in Texas has been a hot buttoned issue since the closing of many reproductive centers across the state. Recently damaging abortion restrictions were passed and therefor encroach on women’s reproductive rights even more by decreasing access to abortion care. Texas’ 84th Legislature, both passed HB 3994 as a law and had it Governor Abbott make it effective with his signature on July 8, or this year. Women’s rights have always been underestimated. One aspect of women’s rights that receives a lot of attention is reproductive rights. Often times, people think of reproductive rights and automatically think of abortion, but, reproductive rights can include many things like abortion and birth control/ contraceptives, etc. Although reproductive rights are for both men and women, women often have a harder time exercising their rights. The famous 1973 case of Roe v. Wade made history in women’s reproductive rights by legalizing abortion, its efforts for abortion to not be criminalized were reached and allowed women to receive abortions without being criminalized. Yet, since 1973 there has been many efforts that set up undue burdens which have strained the rights of many women. There have been many social groups that work towards both side of the spectrum of reproductive rights like: Pro-Choice and Pro-Life. Campaigns, which work as political or social organizers that strive towards achieving a particular thing or area, have made the efforts to fight for the reproductive rights that they believe in. Furthermore, there are many key campaigns that work towards a specific aspect of reproductive rights. For example, Planned Parenthood Action typically fights for birth control, while NRLA usually fights for the rights of women to be able to decided if they want the abortion or not, the National Right to Life (NRLC) fights for abortions to be illegal and tries to influence people into

Pro-choice describes political and ethical views that a woman should have the control over her fertility and the choice to continue or terminate her pregnancy. Pro-choice activists argue that an embryo has no rights as it is only a potential and not an actual person and its rights should not override those of the mother’s until after it is born. The right to choose to have an abortion is personal and essential to women’s lives and without this right, women cannot exercise their rights and liberties guaranteed to them by the Constitution. Without the right to choose an abortion the 14th amendment’s guarantee of liberty has little meaning for women. Another point made could include that a man can withdraw from a relationship when he finds out that his spouse is pregnant, it is only fair that women be given the same choice.

Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. Many people believe it is 100% wrong and even consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is; “The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth.” These pro-life believers do not support the idea of abortion and believe it should be illegal. Many of these supporters do not know that if abortion were illegal they would still be performed, unfortunately by an uneducated staff. Over 70 thousand maternal deaths occur every year because of unsafe abortions. These women die, so the idea of supporting pro-life is contradictory, this is why the nation should be pro-choice.

To have a complete picture of this debate, arguments from both sides must be heard and understood. One of the main tenets of the pro-choice movement is how reproductive choice empowers women and giving them control over their own bodies. To decide if or when they remain pregnant is extremely important to women from all walks of life, whether the circumstances are rape or incest, or whether they simply are not prepared to take care of a child at that time in their lives. Pro-choice advocates point out the possible negative effects of a mother bringing to term a child will constantly remind them of their attack, or serve as a punishment to the mother, all of which can be avoided when women are allowed to choose the right time for them. The US Supreme Court has declared abortion to be a "fundamental right" guaranteed by the US Constitution. The ruling in Roe v Wade was clear; women should have access to abortions if they want them. It has been proven that there is an association between unsafe abortions and restrictive abortion laws. It goes on to say that “Abortion-related deaths are more frequent in countries with more restrictive abortion laws (34 deaths per 100,000 childbirths)”

Pro-life are individuals who are not in support of abortion and pro-choice are those who are in favor of women having the right to have control of the decision concerning her body.

Out of the United State’s hefty population of about 320 million people, only about 68 percent of its citizens meet the voting age requirement. On the other hand, recent voting statistics indicate that only 146 million people are registered to vote, and even fewer of them make it to the polls. As a registered voter, it’s imperative to educate yourself through comprehensive research about the candidates, their views, and how they intend to run the country. Additionally, many sources confirmed my preconceived candidate choices by asserting Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders as the top contenders due to our similar ideals.      Pro-choice supporters on the other hand have been raised in a higher social class where more than likely both parents, but at least the father, have a college degree. They have pursued college and have married mate equal to themselves. They share beliefs with their mates that they are equal beings and want to give their children the best they can. Hence the fact, they would rather not bring a child into the world without being able to fully provide for the child the way they were provided for.

Most people are against abortion will never even become pregnant. So many people involved in government who happen to be men, have the biggest opinion on women’s right and what reproductive choices they should make when they will never carry a child within their body. I cannot why men have such strong opinion of an issue that does not directly involve them. They should put themselves in the shoes of a woman who has been sexually assault, or poor and is pregnant they would not keep the baby as much they advocate for children’s lives when they are born they do everything in their power to keep the mother without government

All around the world, unborn babies are being killed everyday. Abortion has become one of the most common operations in the US today. People that are “pro-choice” believe that it is acceptable for a woman to have the choice to abort her baby or not. They say that it is the legal right of a woman. They believe that a baby is not yet alive until it has been born. It is argued that a woman should be able to do what is best for her future, health, and body. On the other side of the spectrum lies people that are “pro-life”. They believe that human life begins at the time of conception and that killing what is unborn is murder. They defend this with arguments from science, as well as scripture. Pro-choice believes in abortion because it will benefit the majority of women and possibly families. They are looking out for themselves and their best interests. It is Utilitarianism as well as egoism. They believe it is morally acceptable to end the life of the unborn. It will provide the majority with an unwanted pregnancy and a way out of a tough situation. Pro-life is against abortion because of a religious authority and because it will benefit a majority (unborn babies). They believe it is morally unacceptable to end the life of the unborn.
